“Thank you.”
Song Yunfei smiled and pulled the coat tighter around herself.
He probably worried that she might get sick again and end up needing care, which would delay his trip to the exhibition.
Thinking of the exhibition, Song Yunfei suddenly asked, “By the way, how big is your exhibition? Will there be many people going?”
Chu Jinhan watched the cartoon on TV and replied indifferently, “It’s not small. It’s an international exhibition, and quite a few companies in the industry should be attending.”
Hearing that it was an international exhibition, Song Yunfei became even more nervous. “So… will there be people from all over the country?”
“More or less.”
Song Yunfei grew uneasy. Based on the original owner’s personality, she would definitely not have allowed him to go.
With so many people, it would be crowded and unpredictable—there might even be someone they knew.
But she couldn’t bring herself to tell Chu Jinhan not to go. The company must have already arranged it. Even if she acted unreasonably, he would likely agree—but that would only make things difficult for him.
Song Yunfei suddenly had an idea. “Then… can I go too?”
Chu Jinhan finally turned to look at her. “Don’t you have work?”
“You’re going on the weekend, right? How many days will it last?”
Chu Jinhan thought for a moment. “It seems to be three days.”
Song Yunfei fell silent briefly. Counting the weekend, she would only need to take two days off.
Zhang Tao usually didn’t mind leave requests—she just had to inform him; no formal leave form was even required.
Song Yunfei hooked her arm around his and said in a slightly coaxing tone, “Let me go with you. I’ve been really tired from work lately—endless calls, constant scolding. I want to take a break and relax a bit.”
Chu Jinhan lowered his gaze and looked at her pleading expression. After a moment of silence, he finally nodded. “Alright.”
Song Yunfei’s face immediately lit up with joy. “You’re so nice. Should I go with you directly, or go on my own?”
“Either works.”
“You’ll probably go with people from your company, right? Then you go first. I’ll come after I take Mr. Zhao to look at houses. It wouldn’t look good if your colleagues saw us together.”
“Mm. Then take care of yourself.”
Song Yunfei made an OK gesture. “Don’t worry, I’m not a child.”
Since she couldn’t stop him from attending, she would go as well. That way, if anything unexpected happened, she could handle it.
After three episodes of the cartoon finished, the neighbor had quieted down.
The two returned to bed and lay down again. With the air conditioner on, it felt a bit cold, so they needed a blanket.
There was only one blanket, so each of them took half, leaving a large gap between them.
That was how they fell asleep.
When they woke up, Song Yunfei stared at the face right in front of her, feeling slightly awkward.
She wasn’t the only one—Chu Jinhan was also looking at her, equally at a loss.
Their current position was that she was resting her head on his arm, her arm wrapped around his waist.
One of his hands was on her back, and they were essentially holding each other.
After a strangely silent minute, they both let go at the same time and sat up without a word.
“I’ll go make breakfast,” Chu Jinhan said, tossing out that line before getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom.
Song Yunfei got up, picked up the remote to turn off the air conditioner, and took out clothes from the closet to change.
Throughout the entire morning, the two of them didn’t speak again.
They silently finished breakfast, silently left the house, and silently rode the electric bike to work.
Ever since they got the air conditioner, for the next three days, when they woke up in the morning, they were almost always in the same position.
They had already gone several mornings without speaking, feeling awkward.
Until Saturday morning, when Song Yunfei woke up in Chu Jinhan’s arms.
She rubbed her nose and said softly, “I think… we shouldn’t keep the air conditioner on at night. It wastes electricity.”
Previously, when it was too hot, the two would still end up holding each other, but they would quickly separate due to the heat. By the next morning, they would still be far apart, so this kind of awkward situation wouldn’t occur.
Now that the air conditioner was on, it would get colder in the latter half of the night, and the two would unknowingly end up holding each other.
Chu Jinhan responded with a quiet “mm,” got out of bed, and put on his shoes. “Set it to turn off at three.”
Song Yunfei replied softly, “…Okay.”
He had to meet up with Mr. He early in the morning, so he didn’t have time to eat breakfast. After changing clothes, he left the house.
Song Yunfei also went out to buy a simple breakfast for herself, then drove to the company, wandering around for a while.
Around 9:30, she went to Mr. Zhao’s home.
Seeing the car she drove this time, the couple was visibly much happier.
Mrs. Zhao sighed, “Who would’ve thought, Xiao Song—you’re so young and already driving a luxury car.”
Song Yunfei smiled. “This is the company’s car. I couldn’t afford to buy one myself.”
Mrs. Zhao still smiled on the surface, but inside she felt more balanced. “You’re still young—you’ll be able to afford one sooner or later. I’ve heard people in your line of work make a lot of money.”
Then she asked, “If we buy a house, how much commission would you earn?”
Looking at Mrs. Zhao’s smile, Song Yunfei felt it wasn’t very friendly.
She understood this feeling well. If she were to state her commission openly, Mrs. Zhao would likely feel she was at a loss, as if the agent were making too much money off her.
Song Yunfei smiled helplessly. “Mrs. Zhao, to be honest, I can’t really answer that. The commission depends on many factors—it’s not a fixed amount just because a property is sold.”
“For example, the development you’re looking at is selling quite well. For such in-demand properties, our commission is actually relatively low.”
Although she didn’t find out how much Song Yunfei earned, hearing that the development was selling well made Mrs. Zhao feel a sense of urgency.
She asked again, “How much of this development has been sold so far?”
Song Yunfei replied, “About sixty percent at the moment.”
Mrs. Zhao nodded and didn’t ask further. “Then let’s go take another look.”
After all, it was a small county and the project was still under construction—sixty percent was already quite high.
Song Yunfei invited the two into the car and drove them to continue viewing properties.
Last time, they only looked at one layout across five buildings. This time, they wanted to see other layouts as well—it would likely take quite a bit of time.
The couple had clearly done their homework; they used many technical terms that Song Yunfei almost couldn’t keep up with.
However, she hadn’t been idle these days either and had done plenty of research herself. She managed to handle all of Mrs. Zhao’s questions.
It was a pity that after viewing everything, they still said they needed to go back and think about it.
What could Song Yunfei do? She could only smile and agree, then send them back.
Without delay, she drove back to the rental apartment, quickly packed a few clothes, and headed straight to the high-speed rail station.
Huai City wasn’t far—about two hours by car via highway. By high-speed rail, it required a detour and took nearly three to four hours.
At this point, Chu Jinhan had already arrived at the hotel with Mr. He and the others.
Hu Yao dragged her suitcase over to his side. “Chu Jinhan, do you want to go out and take a walk tonight?”
This time, there were four people: Mr. He, Chu Jinhan, a sales manager named Wang Qiang—the company’s backbone—and Hu Yao.
“No,” Chu Jinhan refused without hesitation.
Hu Yao wasn’t discouraged. She rolled her eyes and said, “There’s a very famous ancient cultural street here. It sells lots of small items girls like. Aren’t you going to buy a gift for your girlfriend?”
“Aren’t you worried she’ll be unhappy if you go back empty-handed?”
Chu Jinhan paused in his steps and turned to look at Hu Yao.
