“Too hot…”

Song Yunfei murmured softly and rolled over again.

Chu Jinhan snapped back to his senses and abruptly withdrew his hand.

He suddenly stood up and walked out onto the balcony. The scorching sunlight slanted in, falling entirely on him.

It reflected the panic and confusion on his face.

Chu Jinhan knew better than anyone that he did not like Song Yunfei.

At least, the him who had lost his memory did not like this woman.

Everything he had done was merely out of responsibility.

More importantly, he did not want to be a man who used amnesia as an excuse to be irresponsible.

That was all.

Song Yunfei woke up again at night.

She had woken up both from the heat and from hunger—she was thirsty and starving.

She hadn’t eaten lunch, so how could she not be hungry?

She propped herself up and sat, only to feel something on her forehead fall off.

Picking it up, she saw it was a folded towel.

Turning her head, she noticed Chu Jinhan sitting beside her, leaning against the headboard as if he had fallen asleep.

The bedside lamp emitted a soft glow, illuminating his slightly tired face.

He usually worked during the day and delivered food at night—he must be quite exhausted.

Song Yunfei didn’t want to wake him. She carefully got up, planning to step over him to get out of bed and find something to eat.

Unexpectedly, just as she moved her leg, Chu Jinhan suddenly opened his eyes.

Startled, Song Yunfei jerked in surprise, lost her balance, and fell straight off the bed.

Chu Jinhan reacted quickly, extending his long arm and pulling her back.

In the next moment, Song Yunfei ended up sitting across his lap.

The position was somewhat awkward, and Chu Jinhan’s expression changed slightly as well.

Song Yunfei froze completely, looking at the man in front of her in embarrassment.

“I—I didn’t do it on purpose. I thought you were asleep…”

While speaking, she tried to get off him.

But perhaps because she was too hungry or still weak from illness, she had no strength.

After struggling for a while, she still couldn’t get up. Instead, Chu Jinhan’s breathing began to grow heavier.

Sensing something, Song Yunfei didn’t dare move anymore.

She looked up in shock, meeting Chu Jinhan’s eyes in confusion.

A trace of embarrassment flashed quickly across Chu Jinhan’s eyes, but more than that, a suppressed undercurrent surged within them.

His gaze toward Song Yunfei carried a hint of possessiveness and danger.

“S-sorry.”

Song Yunfei panicked, trying to get off the bed in a fluster. But the more anxious she became, the more accidents occurred.

She lost her balance and fell straight into Chu Jinhan’s chest.

Her forehead bumped into his chest, and Song Yunfei felt like she could die of embarrassment.

She hurriedly pushed herself up, stammering incoherently in apology: “S-sorry! I’ll get up right away…”

However, before she could finish speaking, a large hand suddenly rested on the back of her neck.

Song Yunfei trembled all over and looked up in shock, meeting the man’s intensely oppressive gaze.

Her heart began pounding like thunder, and her fingers tightly gripped the bedsheet.

Chu Jinhan stared at her for a long time without making a move.

Song Yunfei felt extremely uneasy, her mind racing through countless thoughts.

The most vivid ones were images of herself strapped to an operating table for an abortion, or crying behind prison bars.

However, it seemed she had overthought things.

Chu Jinhan did not kiss her. After looking at her for a moment, he let her go.

His voice was slightly hoarse as he said, “Be careful.”

Then the hand that had been on the back of her neck moved to her arm, and with a gentle pull, he helped her down from the bed.

“O-okay, thank you!” Song Yunfei quickly put on her shoes and rushed into the kitchen.

Chu Jinhan also got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Shortly after, the sound of running water could be heard from inside.

Song Yunfei patted her chest and quickly poured herself a glass of water to calm down.

For a moment just now, she really thought the man was going to force a kiss on her. As expected, she had been overthinking.

She lightly slapped herself.

In her heart, she vowed to change this habit of wild imagination.

After calming down, Song Yunfei couldn’t help but click her tongue inwardly.

Given how things had just been, he had actually restrained himself—just how much must he dislike her?

Song Yunfei let out a long sigh, feeling deep concern for her future.

After drinking a large glass of water, her throat felt much better.

She then rummaged through the room, turning things upside down in search of food. She found a pile of snacks—these were probably bought by the original owner of the body.

Song Yunfei poured the snacks onto the table, sat cross-legged on the sofa, tore open a bag of chips, and started eating.

After a while, Chu Jinhan walked out of the bathroom.

He was wearing a light gray T-shirt and gray casual pants, holding a towel and drying his hair.

Seeing the pile of snacks on the table, he slightly frowned.

He quickly walked over to Song Yunfei, bent down, and packed all the snacks on the table into a bag.

Song Yunfei, chips in her mouth, stared at him blankly.

After finishing tidying the table, he even took away the bag of chips in her hand.

“What are you doing?”

Chu Jinhan tied the plastic bag, put it back into the drawer, and looked up at her.

“You’re sick. Don’t eat these.”

“I’m hungry.”

“I’ll go make you some noodles.”

Chu Jinhan turned and headed back to the kitchen. Song Yunfei looked at him speechlessly.

She wasn’t really in the mood for noodles right now—especially not the ones he made.

Sneakily, Song Yunfei opened the drawer again, took out a pack of spicy strips, and quickly finished them in a few bites.

Chu Jinhan brought the cooked noodles out and placed them in front of her. “Eat.”

Looking at the plain bowl of noodles in front of her—with not even an egg—Song Yunfei suddenly didn’t feel that hungry anymore.

“Aren’t you hungry?”

Reluctantly, Song Yunfei picked up the bowl and started eating the noodles.

She glanced at the man across from her.

Chu Jinhan sat opposite her, staring at her as she ate without blinking.

His damp hair hung over his face, giving him a somewhat youthful appearance.

Song Yunfei asked, “Are you delivering food tomorrow? If so, go to bed early. You don’t need to worry about me.”

“I’m not delivering.”

Song Yunfei nodded. “You’ve been working hard for so long. It’s good to take a break.”

Chu Jinhan hesitated for a moment before speaking, “I have something to tell you.”

Song Yunfei’s hand holding the bowl trembled slightly, and she became a bit nervous. She was already somewhat jumpy.

She feared that Chu Jinhan would suddenly tell her he had regained his memory.

“W-what is it?”

Chu Jinhan said, “My boss wants me to transfer to the business department.”

Song Yunfei let out a breath of relief. “I thought it was something serious. Go ahead—why are you telling me?”

Chu Jinhan replied, “Didn’t you say I should report these things to you?”

“Uh… did I? Then from now on you don’t have to report to me anymore. Do whatever you want.”

Chu Jinhan then said, “Then I want to buy stocks.”

Cough— Song Yunfei almost choked on her noodles.

She cleared her throat and said awkwardly, “Uh, that won’t do.”

Song Yunfei knew he was very good at stock trading—that was something he was most familiar with.

The doctor had said that exposing him to familiar things might stimulate his memory recovery.

Conversely, if he avoided familiar things, it would be harder for him to regain his memory.

Otherwise, how could the original owner have been living with such a poor setup, just relying on a broken fan? He could have easily made money through stocks and lived in a much better place.

Gritting her teeth, Song Yunfei explained, “Nine out of ten people who trade stocks lose money. We don’t have much money, so we shouldn’t touch that. The most important thing right now is to work properly and earn money steadily.”

Seeing that he remained expressionless, Song Yunfei added once more, “Did you hear me?”
