VHBF – Chapter 7 The Playboy Daddy (Part 7)

The Villain is Happy Being a Father 10 min read 7 of 186 351

Just out of the hospital, the Zhang family’s illegitimate son and his scummy friend—the second son of the Su family—had barely stepped into the neighborhood when they got bitten by a dog. Bitten, and badly.

These two were, coincidentally, the ones who’d spoken the nastiest the other day.

The Zhang family’s illegitimate son was named Zhang Ming. He was the hidden son of the chairman of the Zhang Corporation. The legitimate wife of the Zhang family had two sons and a daughter, so this extra child born outside the marriage was naturally unwelcome.

But Mr. Zhang was a traditional, conservative man who couldn’t bear the thought of his bloodline left wandering, so he brought the boy home.

Predictably, although Zhang Ming had food and clothes, his life in the Zhang household was far from pleasant.

Luo Sheng was the envy of many. Born into the Luo family, which was even more powerful than the Zhangs, he was an only child. Even if he didn’t inherit the family business in the future, he would still live a life of luxury. A life too good not to stir jealousy.

When word got out that Young Master Luo had returned to the country, and that there was even some drama about him acknowledging a child as his own, the social circles buzzed.

Zhang Ming heard about it and suggested to a few friends that they go check out what kind of person he was.

As for the Su family’s second son, he was no better. A notorious degenerate known for eating, drinking, whoring, and gambling—one of the most toxic figures in their circle.

And now, these two scoundrels had been bitten by a dog early in the morning, fresh out of the hospital. When people heard about it, they practically cheered with joy.

Zhang and Su families claimed it was the Bai family’s three-year-old toddler who had sicced the dog on them. Who would believe such a thing?

A three-year-old child with no grudge against them would unleash a dog just like that?

Clearly, the two of them had done too much evil, and Heaven had sent a dog to punish them!

Now, this three-year-old from the Bai family had been taken by the Zhang and Su families. With only a few servants left in the Bai household, even Aunt Zhang couldn’t stop them. She could only watch as they took the child away.

At this moment, both families were gathered in the Zhang residence.

A circle of adults sat around while the three-year-old stood alone on the floor.

The toddler, dressed in an adorable little dress and sandals, had a bunny backpack strapped to her back. Her big pretty eyes were red from crying, and she glared angrily at the two young men beside her.

They were, of course, the dog-bitten Zhang Ming and Su Yu.

Each had been bitten on a leg, and their clothes were torn to shreds. They sat there with their legs outstretched while a family doctor tended to their wounds.

When the toddler glared at them, they glared back. Zhang Ming even reached out to pinch her cheek—only to get bit himself.

“F**k! That hurts! Let go of me!”

The little girl bared her teeth proudly, as if to say, Serves you right for yelling at me! Serves you right for hitting my daddy!

Zhang Ming looked at the little girl, so fierce yet tiny—like a kitten flashing its claws at an enemy. She was undeniably cute. Then he remembered the massive Bai Group behind her and joked, “Hey, why don’t you just acknowledge me as your daddy, and we’ll pretend none of this happened?”

The little girl’s face turned red with rage. “I only have one daddy! And it’s not you!”

Luo Sheng had just walked in when he heard that. The little one stood alone in the middle of a crowd of adults, looking helpless and pitiful.

Her tiny fists were clenched. Though she looked fierce and feisty, Luo Sheng noticed how nervous she was—her little legs kept fidgeting.

Zhang Ming was stunned by her outburst, and Su Yu chimed in mockingly, “Luo Sheng? That loser? A freeloading bum who doesn’t even like kids! What’s the point of calling someone like that your dad? What’s in it for you?”

He and Zhang Ming exchanged a glance, and with a sleazy grin said, “You’d be better off with us. Two daddies who’ll give you whatever you want. Sound good?”

The little girl was about to explode with fury. Her fear of the strange environment and strange people was completely forgotten.

She planted her chubby hands on her hips, puffed up her cheeks, and yelled like an angry little cub, “My daddy is not a loser! He’s the most amazing person in the whole world! I only want my daddy! You’re the losers!”

The tiny toddler barely reached an adult’s thigh, yet here she was, standing her ground and yelling at two grown men. The scene was both absurd and hilariously cute.

The Zhang and Su family members sitting nearby: “……”

Mr. and Mrs. Luo, along with Luo Sheng, had arrived and seen the entire scene unfold. Upon hearing those words, Mrs. Luo’s heart melted. She wanted nothing more than to scoop this daddy-defending child up and take her home.

Clapping her hands, she beamed, “Well said!”

“Yinyin, come to Grandma.”

Everyone gasped. The little golden treasure had chosen a father? And Luo Sheng actually accepted?

The Zhang and Su families felt a chill in their hearts and rushed forward to greet the Luo couple. “President Luo, Mrs. Luo—you’re here?”

Mrs. Luo was blunt. She immediately snapped back, saying that if she hadn’t come, her poor little granddaughter would’ve been bullied!

When the little girl saw her daddy, her eyes lit up and she rushed over, tears flowing. “Waaah! Daddy, they bullied me!”

The sweet little bundle of energy slammed into Luo Sheng’s leg and clung to it with both arms and legs, seemingly trying to climb him.

Luo Sheng paused. Mrs. Luo gave him a push, and he bent down to pick her up using his uninjured arm.

He had no experience holding kids, and it showed—his movements were stiff and awkward. The girl adjusted herself automatically, boldly wrapped her arms around his neck, and smeared her tears and snot all over him.

This same feisty little lioness who had just shouted back at adults now looked like she had suffered a terrible injustice. Upon seeing a familiar face, she couldn’t stop crying.

Between sobs, she whispered in Luo Sheng’s ear, “Daddy, they bullied me. They wouldn’t let Aunt Zhang in and dragged me away!”

“Daddy…” She pointed her chubby finger at Zhang Ming and Su Yu. “They said bad things about you!”

Then she broke into a bright smile, her voice soft, sweet, and nasal as she boasted, “But I scolded them!”

She leaned in and whispered in his ear again, her warm milky breath tickling his ear, making him go rigid.

Lowering her voice mischievously, she whispered, “Daddy, I even let Mao Mao bite them for you! I avenged you!”

Seeing her crying and laughing like that, with such a smug little face, Luo Sheng couldn’t help the smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He reached out and rubbed her head, messing up her neatly done little pigtails, sending flyaway strands into the air.

Mrs. Luo was all smiles as she turned to the Zhang and Su families. “This father and daughter get along so well. They’re glued together. Grandma doesn’t even stand a chance.”

The Zhang and Su families’ expressions froze. Cautiously, they asked, “So you’ve acknowledged this child?”

“The Bai family had no objections?”

Mr. and Mrs. Luo knew exactly what these two families were scheming. They were using this dog-biting incident to make a play for the Bai family’s assets.

Sure enough, before Mrs. Luo could reply, Mrs. Zhang said with a smile, “You know, even though Zhang Ming isn’t my biological son, he’s still a Zhang. First he gets beaten up by your son, then bitten by the Bai kid’s dog right after being discharged. Don’t you think that’s a bit much?”

She sighed, telling Zhang Ming and Su Yu to head to the hospital for rabies shots rather than waste time here.

Then she added, “If we let this slide, outsiders might say I don’t care about my children. He’s not my own, after all—people love to talk.”

Mrs. Luo waved her hand. “Let’s sort this out properly. It wasn’t right for my son to hit yours, but young people fighting—we shouldn’t interfere. Besides, Luo Sheng’s injured pretty badly himself—his hand’s practically useless.”

“And as for the dog bite—Yinyin is not even three years old. She doesn’t know Zhang Ming or Su Yu. Why would she have a reason to sic a dog on them? It just doesn’t make sense.”

“Don’t confuse the two matters. We’ll cover their medical expenses, and we even brought red envelopes to soothe the kids’ nerves. Let’s leave it at that.”

“And about the Bai family’s dog biting someone—now that Yinyin is part of the Luo family, we’ll take responsibility for that.”

She took out two more red envelopes, making four in total, and handed them over. “These are to calm everyone down.”

Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Su: “……”

After the Luo family left with Yinyin, the mood at the Zhang house soured. Everyone looked grim.

They had hoped to use this incident to squeeze something out of the Bai family—after all, there were no capable adults left in that house. But before they could even start, Mrs. Luo’s sharp tongue shut everything down.

Yinyin lay on her daddy’s shoulder, laughing joyfully. Her little mouth kept babbling “Daddy, daddy, daddy.”

The man snapped impatiently, “Shut up.”

But she was too excited. She clung to him and refused to get down. From this high vantage point, her eyes sparkled, and she stretched out her hand, “I’m as tall as Daddy now!”

Luo Sheng: “……”

Mr. and Mrs. Luo watched from the side. Strangely, even though their son was still the same irresponsible guy with the same sullen face, somehow, he and the little girl looked perfectly in sync.

Back home, Mrs. Luo was worried. It had been easy to say those things at the Zhang house, but actually claiming Yinyin wouldn’t be simple.

The Luo family was a powerhouse in City A. The Bai family, though up-and-coming, was new money. The Luo family was already enough of a threat—people would never believe they had no interest in Bai assets.

If her son publicly acknowledged Bai Yinyin, the Bai family’s remaining relatives would cause a stir. The rest of City A would likely try to interfere too.

As expected, after word spread about what Mrs. Luo had said at the Zhang home, the Bai family couldn’t sit still. The next day, they came knocking to take the child back.

Second Uncle Bai showed up, face twisted with rage. He was a thug at heart—anyone who blocked his cash flow was an enemy.

“My niece has nothing to do with you people! Yinyin is just three—how can she tell right from wrong? You must’ve tricked her into calling your son ‘Daddy’!”

These Bai relatives were all originally from the countryside. Mr. Bai had only brought them into the city after becoming wealthy, giving each a house to settle down.

What do rural folks excel at? Fighting! Their words were crude, their voices loud, and everything that came out of their mouths was vile.

Mrs. Luo was fuming, until a young man with brown hair came down the stairs, holding Yinyin in his arms. His voice was lazy and indifferent.

“Let me ask you—who was it that said she could choose whoever she wanted as her daddy?”

The Bai family froze and looked at Second Uncle Bai.

At the party, the girl had indeed asked, Can I pick whoever I want?

And everyone had heard it.

But how could anyone have guessed that a three-year-old would skip over all her relatives and choose some outsider—a playboy, no less?!

Second Uncle Bai was so angry his hair stood on end. He looked at the toddler in the man’s arms. “Yinyin, come back with Second Uncle, okay?”
