“Yinyin, you’re still young, you don’t understand. If you go to the Luo family, the company your parents left behind will end up changing its name—turning into the Luo family’s property!”
“Do you think someone without ties would want to take in a little burden like you for no reason? It’s all because of your parents’ inheritance!”
The middle-aged man was still preaching like he was giving heartfelt advice.
Luo Sheng pressed his tongue against his molars, finding everything about that man unbearable. His hands itched, his feet itched, his whole body was filled with irritation.
If it were his usual self, he’d probably have grabbed a bottle and chucked it at the guy already. But Yinyin was here—fighting in front of her probably wasn’t the best idea.
The brown-haired young man stood at the staircase, bouncing Yinyin in his arms to hold her more securely. His sharp eyes locked onto the greedy middle-aged man.
“Get lost.”
Yinyin shivered slightly, her plump little body trembling as she whimpered softly, “D-Daddy, don’t fight.”
A large hand gently patted her fluffy little head, a calming motion. The coldness in Luo Sheng’s eyes seemed to freeze over, sharp and ruthless.
The Bai family relatives who came to stir trouble all instinctively backed away, even Second Uncle Bai, a burly man, subconsciously took a step back.
Snapping out of it, he started cursing, saying, “What business does a punk like you have meddling in this?!”
“I’m teaching my own niece, who the hell are you to interfere?”
Before Luo Sheng could say anything, the little bundle in his arms piped up in her childish voice, “Daddy is not an outsider!”
Her voice trembled slightly, but she wouldn’t let anyone insult her daddy. The moment someone did, she puffed up like a little angry beast, insisting on defending him.
Luo Sheng grinned and handed Yinyin to Mrs. Luo, who carried her away. In the living room, only Luo Sheng and a few Bai family relatives remained.
Rolling up his sleeves, he stepped toward Second Uncle Bai, one step at a time.
He was alone, facing several people on the other side—yet they all retreated. Word was, the Luo family’s brat fought like a maniac with no regard for consequences.
But Second Uncle Bai wasn’t convinced. To bolster his courage, he let his mouth run wild, saying everything he shouldn’t.
In the end, he was carried out.
He walked in standing and went out lying flat.
As the Bai family hauled him off, he wheezed and shouted threats about making Luo Sheng pay.
Luo Sheng flexed his wrist and watched the group of fools leave the house. Suddenly, a small, soft body hugged his thigh from behind. He looked down to see a pair of clear, wide black-and-White eyes blinking up at him.
“Daddy, your hand’s not hurt after all?”
Luo Sheng: “……”
The elite social circle of City A had been buzzing with excitement lately—scandals and gossip one after another.
First, the heads of the Bai family passed away, followed by greedy relatives scrambling to take in the little princess. Then, the golden child herself picked a daddy—none other than the infamous playboy heir, Luo Sheng.
And Luo Sheng didn’t disappoint. Just a few days after returning to the country, he’d already gotten into a fight and sent someone to the hospital. Then, not long after they were discharged, they got bitten by the Bai family’s dog. People were fascinated by the drama and eager for more.
Now something else had happened.
The Bai family’s relatives came knocking on the Luo family’s door to demand the girl back, only for Second Uncle Bai to end up carried out and hospitalized.
Word spread that Mrs. Luo had personally admitted the family would officially take in the Bai family’s little golden girl—and she would be registered under Luo Sheng’s name.
That little girl kept calling “Daddy” with such joy, and surprisingly, the two of them actually looked quite fitting as father and daughter.
Business rivals of both the Luo and Bai families began to panic. Those who had hoped to benefit from the Bai family’s downfall now found themselves on edge.
They had been waiting for the Bai family to fall into the hands of its vulgar, nouveau-riche relatives so they could easily lay traps and ruin them.
After all, those relatives had little education, and their only value in City A was their surname “Bai.” They were shortsighted and easy to manipulate.
But if the Bai family had the Luo family backing them—not only would it be impossible to profit off the Bai family, they’d also have to worry about the two families joining forces and squeezing them out entirely.
Meanwhile, the gang of playboys wasn’t thinking that deeply. What shocked them most was the rumor coming from the Zhang family.
Their Brother Luo actually agreed to adopt a kid???
Luo Sheng had just arrived, tossing his car keys to a valet, when a few young men who’d been waiting came over.
The blonde, who was closest to Luo Sheng, asked bluntly, “Bro, is it true you’re really taking in that girl from the Bai family?”
“No way,” he answered his own question right after. “This is Luo Sheng we’re talking about—he doesn’t even like cats, let alone some soft little kid. Gotta be a rumor!”
Luo Sheng didn’t respond, but the blonde had already started shaking his head.
Having this guy be the dad of a toddler? Might as well expect the sun to rise in the west.
Everyone was watching him. Luo Sheng had always been decisive—he’d already turned it down before, hadn’t he changed his mind now?
They walked into the clubhouse, Luo Sheng trailing behind slowly. The younger guys scratched their heads, desperate for an answer, so they followed him step by step.
Suddenly, he stopped. He didn’t say yes or no—just said, “That little runt is under my protection now.”
The blonde: ???
So… was that a yes or a no?
If it was a yes, shouldn’t he start preparing a little gift for his new niece?
Currently, the Bai Group was temporarily being managed by Xia Yang, the former right-hand VP during Mr. Bai’s time.
When Mr. and Mrs. Bai first passed, Bai Group’s stock price plummeted. Fortunately, it later stabilized—Mr. Bai had a good reputation, and no one dared to strike so soon.
Even those with hidden agendas were waiting for the Bai family’s troublemaking relatives to mess things up before making a move. So the company was still functioning—for now.
But in the past two days, several major projects had been forced to halt. Either government inspections were suddenly announced, or partners abruptly pulled out of deals.
Several major delays in a row—even a company as big as Bai Group couldn’t handle it. Most of their working capital was now frozen.
But with no clear head of the family, interim manager Xia Yang had no one to consult. The shareholders, who only cared about their dividends and never the company’s actual work, were growing restless, pressuring Xia Yang to come up with a solution.
But Xia Yang couldn’t possibly turn to a three-year-old little princess, could he? Once the rumors spread, Bai Group’s stock began dropping again.
Business is war—any ripple spreads fast. The situation at Bai Group was brought up by Mr. Luo over dinner.
Because of Yinyin, the Luo and Bai families were now clearly seen as being tied together, even if nothing was formally confirmed.
He frowned deeply. “Some people are getting impatient.”
He also blamed Mrs. Luo for speaking too quickly during their visit to the Zhangs, announcing that they would adopt Yinyin. That naturally stirred those with ill intentions into action.
Mrs. Luo didn’t understand the business world, but she said one thing clearly: “You have to support her. We can’t let those jackals and wolves take what belongs to little Yinyin.”
Mr. Luo nodded. “There were two projects in Bai Group I’d been interested in. We can consider investing.”
Mrs. Luo agreed. With their funding, Bai Group would surely feel some relief.
At first, things went smoothly. Representatives from both companies met, and contracts were discussed. But just as things were about to be finalized—problems hit the Luo Group too!
Yinyin was crouching under the pink swing in the garden, playing fetch with Mao Mao, the golden retriever. These past few days had been the happiest of her time in this world, ever since Uncle System brought her here.
Every morning she could happily run over to the Luo house to see Daddy. No one kicked her out anymore. Though Daddy wasn’t exactly warm, at least he didn’t chase her off.
That alone was enough to make Yinyin feel content.
The little girl wore a sweet smile on her face, tossing the ball again and again, giggling with delight each time Mao Mao brought it back. She looked like she’d just stolen a jar of honey—pure happiness radiating from her whole being.
She had no idea what was happening with the company. Then suddenly, the system’s voice rang out:
“Little cub… your family’s going bankrupt.”
“And your daddy’s family might… be going bankrupt too.”
