The Luo household was in chaos. Mr. Luo hadn’t even made it to the office that morning, and Mrs. Luo was standing with her hands on her hips, scolding her son fiercely.
“You’ve just returned from abroad and already causing trouble?” she snapped. “Three years overseas and not an ounce of improvement. Still messing around every day! You’d better go to your father’s company and start learning something!”
“How badly did you beat that Zhang family boy? He’s in the hospital now! Luo Sheng, do you think you’re still a teenager, fighting and causing trouble all over again?”
Mrs. Luo was livid. Last night had been one long disturbance—several families had called to complain that her son had been in another brawl. People had been beaten bloody, and several ended up in the hospital.
Her son had also been injured, but it wasn’t too serious. His face had been scratched by shards of a broken bottle—looked worse than it was. Their family doctor had simply bandaged him up and left.
Was it a big deal? Not really. But fighting like that was inappropriate, especially since the ones he fought were all part of the same social circle. These were people they’d see again and again—how could they show their faces now?
What really troubled Mrs. Luo was that her son was already in his mid-twenties and still so unreliable. She was worried sick about him.
While the scolding went on, Luo Sheng was lying on the sofa, legs sprawled, his face dotted with several white bandages.
To appease the more seriously injured families, Mrs. Luo had insisted that the family doctor put Luo Sheng’s hand in a cast—now suspended with a sling around his neck.
To outsiders, she instructed the servants to spread the word that her son had been seriously hurt. Everyone had injuries, everyone fought—so why make a fuss about it?
At a glance, Luo Sheng looked pretty banged up—like he’d been beaten half to death.
Just then, Yinyin burst through the doors and froze in shock. Her wide, round eyes filled with fear. Tears welled up in an instant and started to fall.
Her daddy had really been beaten up by bad people!
Yinyin’s little legs pushed forward as she charged over, sobbing and shouting, “Daddy!”
When Yinyin arrived at the Luo residence, the servants didn’t stop her. After what happened yesterday, everyone knew she was from the Bai family and called the young master “Daddy.” Both Mrs. and Mr. Luo liked her, so no one thought to block her.
Mrs. Luo, in the middle of berating her son, didn’t have time to stop Yinyin. She watched as the child dashed in, saw her son like this, and broke into helpless sobs, throwing herself into his arms.
The little body, still smelling of milk and sweets, flung itself onto Luo Sheng. Her chubby form clung to him as she wailed loudly, sobbing out in a broken voice, “Wuwuwu… D-daddy, who… who hit you!”
She lifted her tear-streaked face, eyes red and brimming with grief and rage on his behalf. Clenching her tiny fists, she said in her milky voice, “Yinyin will hit them back! Yinyin will get revenge for Daddy!”
Luo Sheng had never, ever felt so certain that this little dumpling truly saw him as her father.
He wasn’t seriously hurt—just some facial scratches. But with all the bandages, it looked dramatic. Yinyin, seeing his face covered in white gauze, knew what that meant: Daddy was hurt, he bled, and the doctor had to bandage him up.
With that thought, Yinyin’s lips trembled and more golden tears rolled down. Luo Sheng instinctively reached out to cover her mouth and frowned. “Didn’t die, quit crying.”
What he meant to say was “I’m fine, don’t cry”, but it came out sounding like an impatient rebuke.
Luo Sheng frowned deeper. He truly didn’t know how to deal with this soft little dumpling. So he turned his head away to avoid seeing her tearful chubby face.
The room fell quiet. Luo Sheng curled his lips slightly, assuming the kid was finally scared into silence.
Serves her right. Kids had never liked him—even his cousin’s children were afraid of him. After getting yelled at so many times, this foolish little thing ought to learn her lesson and stop clinging to him!
Tch. Kids are just so annoying!
He shut his eyes, ready for a nap.
But then, a soft touch landed on his bandaged arm.
Yinyin had moved closer and was gently patting it with her little chubby hand. In a tender, concerned voice, she asked, “Daddy, does it hurt?”
“It must hurt a lot, right? Yinyin gets really hurt just from a little fall… and Daddy’s hurt so much more!”
“Daddy, be good, okay? Yinyin will blow on it so it won’t hurt anymore.”
She puffed out her cheeks and blew gently on his arm, whispering as she blew, “No more pain, no more pain… good Daddy…”
Even her breath smelled faintly like milk. The man’s body went rigid. He didn’t know if he was stunned or what—but he didn’t react for a long while.
Yinyin’s heart ached even more. She grew angry too. After blowing gently for a long while, convinced she had helped, she dragged over a small stool and sat down in front of him.
Tears still hanging on her cheeks, she looked like an angry little beast. “Daddy, who hit you? Yinyin is going to fight them!”
Luo Sheng had just been about to say, Don’t call me Daddy so randomly, but for some reason, the words got stuck in his throat. He turned his head to her and replied with a sneer, “You, with that tiny body, couldn’t even take two punches.”
Mrs. Luo had been watching from the side. She was so moved just moments ago by how the little dumpling sincerely cried for her “Daddy,” and how she vowed to avenge him with her tiny fists. It had made her eyes water. How could such a good child not be hers?
Even if she wasn’t, just being so lovable and pitiful made Mrs. Luo want to adopt her!
But that touching moment didn’t last even three seconds. Her son just had to go and ruin it, acting like a bully with his smug, villainous look.
She was about to scold him and tell him to act more like a father—don’t take a child’s kind heart for granted—but Yinyin tilted her head and replied, “But Daddy, I’m not afraid!”
Her big eyes shone with childlike innocence. “They hit Daddy, so they’re wrong. Yinyin has to fight them for you!”
Yinyin didn’t know much at three years old. But she remembered when the bad kids bullied her, it was Daddy who scared them off. After that, they never dared to bother her again.
Now her chubby cheeks puffed up with resolve—she would help Daddy chase off the bad guys too! That way, they’d never dare hurt him again.
Anyone who hit Daddy was a big bad guy!
When you’re doing something you truly believe in, you become braver.
Luo Sheng, looking into her tearful yet bright and determined eyes, suddenly thought of that line.
And then, unexpectedly, he laughed. His face, covered in bandages, wasn’t exactly pleasant to look at—if anything, it was a bit grotesque and could probably scare a child to tears.
But Yinyin gasped with joy. “Daddy, you smiled! You smiled at me!”
Since coming to this world, Daddy had always been cold to her. He didn’t remember her, didn’t like her—but now he smiled at her!
Yinyin’s cheeks turned red as she grinned like a fool, whispering to the system in her heart: “Uncle System, I think Daddy likes me again!”
In Yinyin’s mind, only people who liked you would smile at you. So Daddy smiling = Daddy likes her.
The air between them was warm and gentle. Mrs. Luo thought this would be a touching father-daughter reunion…
But her son, as always, didn’t let the moment last. He clicked his tongue and said disdainfully, “That smile of yours is so stupid!”
Mrs. Luo: “…”
“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
Suddenly, a loud bark echoed through the room. A full-grown golden retriever with a shiny coat stood behind Yinyin, glaring fiercely at Luo Sheng.
Luo Sheng: “…”
He had just come back from three years abroad. Aside from his childhood friends, most people weren’t familiar with him. All they remembered was that he was a little tyrant—fierce and unpredictable.
Now with rumors spreading about how he beat people so badly in a bar that they ended up hospitalized, his reputation had gotten even worse.
“Just another good-for-nothing rich kid. Drinking and fighting all day—what else is he even good at?”
“Well, he’s got a powerful dad, right? The Luo family can afford to raise a bratty young master.”
These kinds of comments were circulating all over, and online, there were even posts saying some young master from A City’s top families was going around hospitalizing people—abusing his power…
Though those posts were eventually taken down, Mrs. Luo was furious. Mr. Luo had outright forbidden his son from going out, demanding he stay home and heal properly.
Luo Sheng didn’t care much either way and agreed lazily.
What he didn’t know was that someone else—a certain dumpling—had gone home and was secretly plotting revenge for Daddy.
“Uncle System, Daddy won’t tell me who hit him. Do you know?”
The system didn’t want to talk to the dumpling, but she kept pestering and nagging. It was driving him crazy.
Finally, unable to take it anymore, he snapped, “Why do you want to know?”
“To beat them up!” Yinyin waved her little chubby fists and declared she was going to get revenge for Daddy!
She was too young to understand her own limitations. All she knew was: You hurt my Daddy, so I’m going to hurt you!
The system’s light halo flickered. “Your dad was right. With that tiny body, one punch and you’ll fly.”
“Little brat, let’s just focus on our missions, okay? Don’t think about this anymore. Besides, your dad’s fine, isn’t he?”
What could possibly happen to a villain at this stage? He’d only get his comeuppance near the end of the story. Right now, no one could touch him.
But no matter what the system said, Yinyin didn’t believe it. She believed only what she saw—Daddy was hurt, his arm was in a sling, and his face had so many bandages!
The system refused to say more, so Yinyin thought for a bit and threatened, “Uncle System, if you don’t tell me, I’ll tell Daddy all about you.”
System No. 3: “……”
Humans. Even their little brats are as annoying as villains!
So, while Luo Sheng quietly recovered at home, not stirring up trouble for once, trouble found its way to the most well-behaved member of the Bai family—Yinyin.
And it was a big mess.
Yinyin was too young to do anything major. And with Auntie Zhang watching her, she couldn’t really get into trouble.
But she had a dog.
A golden retriever named Mao Mao, who was fiercely loyal to its little master. It seemed to understand that her two big parents were no longer around, and it treated Yinyin with exceptional gentleness and protectiveness.
One morning, while Auntie Zhang was walking Yinyin and Mao Mao, two young men happened to pass by—both wearing trendy streetwear, one still bandaged on the head.
Yinyin leaned in and whispered something into Mao Mao’s ear.
With a sudden burst of energy, the golden retriever dashed forward.
Auntie Zhang: “…”
Not long after breakfast, one of the Luo family servants came rushing in, face tangled in panic.
“Madam, young master… Miss Yinyin… she… she set the dog on someone. She’s been detained by the Zhang and Su families!”
