SAG -Chapter 180 Zhang Ran’s Intimidation

Starting as a Grandfather6 min read180 of 196

When Zhang Siyan and the others returned, they found Huo Zhiyuan sitting obediently on the hospital bed, speaking softly with Zhang Ran. There wasn’t the slightest trace of the domineering CEO everyone knew.

“Sis, eat something.”

Huo Xin placed the food she had brought beside Zhang Ran while speaking to her sister.

Seeing this, Huo Zhiyuan blushed faintly but said nothing.

Zhang Ran glanced at Huo Xin and instinctively stood up.

“Alright, then you feed your sister. I should go eat something too.”

Huo Xin froze for a moment.

She looked at Huo Zhiyuan.

Yet Huo Zhiyuan’s expression remained completely calm, without the disappointment Huo Xin had expected.

It was as though she had already known Zhang Ran would behave this way.

Huo Xin couldn’t understand their relationship at all.

Still, she dared not ask directly and could only obediently feed her sister.

Meanwhile, back at the original rehabilitation center, Huo San and the others had been locked inside a room by Zhao Hu and his men.

Even their phones had been confiscated.

“Brother Hu, what you’re doing is pretty unethical,” Huo Li said with an ugly expression.

Zhao Hu nodded.

“I know. It’s unethical, underhanded, and downright petty.”

“But I have no choice.”

“You offended someone you absolutely shouldn’t have.”

“Who exactly is that man? What’s your relationship with him?” Huo Li asked.

Zhao Hu snorted.

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that?”

“If I’d known your family had anything to do with Brother Zhang, I’d have to be completely insane to take this job.”

A trace of lingering fear flashed across his face.

Yet there was also relief.

People like Zhao Hu possessed an instinctive fear of Zhang Ran.

Even after twenty-eight years, that fear had never faded.

He had never believed that disappearing for nearly three decades meant Zhang Ran had become ordinary.

Though Zhao Hu understood far less about Zhang Ran than He Yong did, he still knew certain things—things he had deliberately kept secret all these years.

And the longer time passed, the more fearful he became.

Especially when bits and pieces of what he knew occasionally resurfaced in the news.

Huo Li fell silent.

By now, he understood who Zhang Ran was.

But he still didn’t know the full extent of his background.

“Brother Hu,” he continued, “what you’re doing is illegal. This is unlawful imprisonment.”

He had begun using the law as a threat.

But Zhao Hu merely shrugged.

“I know.”

“If you decide to report me afterward, I’ll turn myself in.”

His tone was casual.

His expression, however, was completely serious.

Huo Li hadn’t expected Zhao Hu to be so straightforward.

Still unwilling to give up, he lowered his voice.

“Brother Hu, give me a private room. I have something important to discuss with you.”

Zhao Hu hesitated.

After glancing at Sun Guilan and the others, he ordered them taken to another room.

At the same time, he deliberately left two of his subordinates behind.

More importantly, they were not his most trusted men.

In truth, this arrangement was a warning to himself:

Do not entertain any crooked ideas at a time like this.

He genuinely feared being tempted by Huo Li and making the wrong choice again.

Huo Li glanced at the two remaining men and gave up on secrecy.

Lowering his voice, he said: “Brother Hu, my second sister isn’t waking up.”

“She’s unmarried and has no children.”

“Everything she owns—her shares, her wealth—will eventually belong to us.”

“If you help me this time, I promise you won’t lose out.”

“Five hundred million yuan.”

The moment he uttered that number, Zhao Hu’s breathing became noticeably heavier.

At that instant, he felt even more grateful for the precautions he had taken.

Because he truly was tempted.

Five hundred million!

He could never earn that amount in his entire lifetime.

With that money, he could live in luxury anywhere in the world.

Not only him—even the two subordinates beside him turned red with excitement.

Looking at them, Zhao Hu sneered.

“Don’t get any funny ideas.”

“Do you know why I left the two of you here?”

“To remind myself.”

“Five hundred million is indeed a huge sum.”

“But if you live long enough to get the money and die before spending it, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

“Brother Hu, that’s five hundred million…” one subordinate muttered.

“Exactly,” Huo Li immediately followed up. “With that money, you could enjoy yourself anywhere.”

“And I don’t believe that man would really kill anyone.”

“If things got exposed, he’d be finished too.”

Zhao Hu laughed.

“You’re right.”

“With Brother Zhang’s personality, he absolutely wouldn’t do such a thing.”

“Forget five hundred million—even five billion wouldn’t make him break the law.”

“For him, it simply isn’t worth it.”

The subordinate’s breathing became even more ragged.

“But…” Zhao Hu continued softly, “Brother Yong is another matter entirely.”

“Do you know why I chose this path?”

“Brother Zhang didn’t say a single word.”

“What I’m doing right now is already illegal.”

“And even if the police investigate later, this is my personal responsibility. It has nothing to do with Brother Zhang.”

He sounded as though he were speaking to others.

In reality, he was reminding himself.

Based on everything he knew about He Yong, if he betrayed Zhang Ran again, He Yong would truly try to kill him.

And once He Yong found someone capable of replacing him, the methods he employed would go far beyond what ordinary people could imagine.

Zhao Hu knew one thing clearly:

Although He Yong appeared honest and gentle, he was anything but a good man.

In some respects, especially regarding matters involving Zhang Ran, He Yong was utterly ruthless.

He would stop at nothing.

Even now, Zhao Hu still couldn’t understand why He Yong was so fiercely loyal to Zhang Ran.

“And don’t forget,” Zhao Hu continued, “your parents are still the primary heirs.”

“And do you really think you’ll escape this?”

“Every single one of you is heading to prison.”

Huo Li chuckled.

“Brother Hu, I know nothing about what happened to my second sister.”

“Everything was done by my parents.”

“It has nothing to do with me.”

“When the time comes, only they will be arrested—not me.”

Those words left Zhao Hu stunned.

The man had already planned to sacrifice his own parents.

If everything unfolded as he described, with Sun Guilan and her husband taking all the blame, then Huo Li truly would become the sole heir.

Yet regardless of the promises, regardless of the guarantees, Zhao Hu firmly remained on Zhang Ran’s side.

He simply lacked the courage to oppose him.

And Zhao Hu’s unwavering attitude planted the first seeds of genuine unease in Huo Li’s heart.
