SAG -Chapter 173 Huo Zhiyuan Collapses!

Starting as a Grandfather6 min read173 of 196

April 1st, at the Kangshilan headquarters.

Today, Zhang Siyan arrived at the company glowing with excitement. As she passed by her project team, every employee wore a bright smile as well.

Today was the day they would sign the endorsement contract with Fang Hua. Once the contract was finalized, it would mean that their project was entering its final sales stage, and the time for rewards and recognition was finally approaching. How could they not be happy?

No sooner had Zhang Siyan sat down in her office than Meng Zixuan knocked and entered.

“Sister Siyan, Mr. Fang will be arriving soon. Should we go downstairs to receive him?” she asked.

At first, Meng Zixuan had called her “Manager Zhang,” but Zhang Siyan had insisted on being called “Sister Siyan” instead. Meng Zixuan hadn’t argued much, since she herself wasn’t very comfortable addressing her as Manager Zhang.

“Okay, I’ll head down right away. Everything has been prepared, right?” Zhang Siyan asked.

“Yes, everything is ready. We’re just waiting for Mr. Fang to sign the contract,” Meng Zixuan replied.

“Good.”

Zhang Siyan let out a small sigh of relief. This was the first time she had taken charge of such a major project, and she was still somewhat nervous.

“Don’t be so tense. President Huo will be coming over later,” Meng Zixuan reassured her.

“Mhm.”

At the very moment they were talking about Huo Zhiyuan, Zhao Jingyu was trying to call her.

The day before, Huo Zhiyuan had specifically reminded her not to forget today’s event. She knew this was Zhang Siyan’s first time handling something on such a large scale, so she wanted to be there to support her personally.

Moreover, if any unexpected problems arose, she would be able to step in immediately.

That was why, when Zhao Jingyu noticed that Huo Zhiyuan hadn’t arrived this morning, she began calling to remind her. But strangely enough, although the call connected, no one answered.

Zhao Jingyu frowned.

Huo Zhiyuan rarely ignored calls. Could she be taking a shower? Or otherwise occupied?

After waiting a while longer, she called again, but still no answer.

For some reason, an uneasy feeling gradually began to rise in her heart.

She quickly called Huo Zhiyuan’s private physician to ask about the situation.

Recently, Huo Zhiyuan had frequently complained of dizziness, but after examinations, the doctor had merely concluded that she was suffering from malnutrition and only needed some adjustments to her diet.

Zhao Jingyu had been mentally prepared for that.

After all, during the past six months, Huo Zhiyuan had gone to extreme lengths to maintain her figure and skin. The things she ate made Zhao Jingyu’s teeth ache just looking at them.

And strangely enough, the shrewd and wise businesswoman seemed to lose all rationality in matters concerning beauty and health. Every now and then, she would even trust random advice from public social media accounts, leaving Zhao Jingyu speechless.

Because of this, Huo Zhiyuan had even forced herself to consume all the health supplements that Sun Guilan had sent through Huo Jiaxiong, despite clearly disliking them.

Originally, Zhao Jingyu hadn’t been overly concerned. Given Huo Zhiyuan’s eating habits and beauty regimen, mild malnutrition seemed perfectly understandable.

But now, with her phone calls going unanswered again and again, and the sweet automated voice continuing to play from her phone, Zhao Jingyu could no longer remain calm.

Huo Zhiyuan’s private physician wasn’t answering either.

If Huo Zhiyuan herself failed to answer, there could be excuses.

But for her doctor to ignore calls during working hours? That made no sense.

At that moment, Meng Zixuan came over.

“Assistant Zhao, when is Aunt Huo arriving?”

Suppressing her growing anxiety, Zhao Jingyu forced a smile.

“She should be here soon… I think.”

“Should?” Meng Zixuan immediately caught the uncertainty in her wording.

Zhao Jingyu didn’t explain further.

“Come with me. Let’s go check on things first.”

She knew that neither Zhang Siyan nor Meng Zixuan had much experience. Since Huo Zhiyuan still hadn’t arrived, she had no choice but to step in herself.

Another thirty minutes passed.

Still, Huo Zhiyuan did not appear.

People were beginning to grow restless.

“Mr. Fang, I’m terribly sorry. President Huo may have been delayed by something urgent,” Zhang Siyan apologized.

Fang Hua remained relaxed.

“It’s fine. I have the whole day available anyway. I can treat this as an opportunity to see how a major company like Kangshilan operates,” he said with a smile.

“Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Fang.”

Zhang Siyan finally relaxed a little.

Ten more minutes went by.

Then, beside her, Huo Jiaxiong spoke softly.

“Manager Zhang, why don’t we go ahead and sign the endorsement contract first? My aunt is probably tied up with something and can’t get away. We shouldn’t keep Mr. Fang waiting forever.”

Zhang Siyan considered it.

He had a point.

Besides, Huo Jiaxiong was Huo Zhiyuan’s nephew—something everyone in the company knew. Especially recently, Huo Li had been showing up at the company so frequently that it was impossible not to know.

Just as Zhang Siyan was about to proceed with the signing, Zhao Jingyu suddenly noticed a trace of excitement in Huo Jiaxiong’s eyes.

The ominous feeling in her heart surged violently.

“Don’t sign it!”

The words burst out of her mouth.

Zhang Siyan and Fang Hua both froze.

Everyone turned to look at Zhao Jingyu.

What was she doing?

Even Zhao Jingyu herself didn’t fully understand why she had reacted that way.

She simply couldn’t shake the sense that something was terribly wrong.

After so much training and experience, she had developed a certain instinct for responsibility.

Turning to Zhang Siyan, she said, “Miss Zhang, could we postpone this a little longer?”

Though she didn’t understand Zhao Jingyu’s reasoning, Zhang Siyan trusted her. Zhao Jingyu had always taken good care of both her and Qian Li, so she chose not to question it and instead apologized to Fang Hua once more.

Had it been anyone else, even Fang Hua’s gentle temperament might have run out by now.

But because it was Zhang Siyan, he remained patient.

Huo Jiaxiong’s eyes flashed with irritation, though he said nothing.

Zhao Jingyu asked Zhang Siyan to take Fang Hua on a tour of Kangshilan while she hurried toward Huo Zhiyuan’s villa.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door repeatedly.

No answer.

The unease in her heart intensified.

Just as she was about to knock again, a passerby stopped.

“Are you looking for President Huo?”

“Mrs. Wang, hello.”

The two knew each other.

“I saw an ambulance come by this morning. It seemed President Huo had collapsed. She should be in the hospital now,” Mrs. Wang said.

Zhao Jingyu froze.

She had never imagined such an outcome.

The dreadful premonition she had been feeling had become reality.

“Thank you, Mrs. Wang. Do you know which hospital?” she asked anxiously.

“If I saw correctly, it should be First People’s Hospital.”

The moment she got the information, Zhao Jingyu rushed back to her car without another thought and sped toward First People’s Hospital.

She couldn’t believe that Huo Zhiyuan had collapsed—and even more unbelievable was the fact that, as her personal assistant, she hadn’t been informed.

Under normal circumstances, Huo Zhiyuan’s private physician should have notified her immediately.
