SFTD -Chapter 334 Missing Memory (Final)

As he spoke, Qin Tianhe reached out and lifted Wang Pei from the ground.

Wang Pei kept screaming, but her limbs no longer obeyed her. That feeling of being a helpless victim made anyone lose control; apart from screaming, she seemed unable to vent her terror in any other way.

The window was large. Although the gap wasn’t wide, throwing a person out was still easy.

Just as Wang Pei’s body was halfway pushed out of the window—headfirst—Wang Xuchao, who had been on the ground, suddenly sprang up. The spoon handle he had been clutching tightly stabbed directly into Qin Tianhe’s lower back.

The sudden pain made Qin Tianhe’s legs go weak, and he dropped to one knee.

Wang Pei, completely unable to control her body, continued sliding toward the outside. At that moment, Wang Xuchao rushed forward and grabbed her legs.

But that burst of movement had already drained his remaining strength. No matter how hard he bit his tongue, he couldn’t suppress the dizziness.

Qin Tianhe, clutching his waist while sitting on the ground, struggled to stand. He looked at the blood on his palm and broke into an excited, cruel smile—the sight of blood only made him more exhilarated.

He reached into the large black bag beside him, pulled out a metal baseball bat with a black-and-white checkered pattern, and swung it with all his strength toward Wang Xuchao.

If Wang Xuchao let go to dodge it, Wang Pei would fall. With no choice, he raised his left arm to block.

Bang!

His arm was struck into a grotesque, outward-bent position. Wang Xuchao groaned, gritting his teeth against the piercing pain, while his right hand still held onto Wang Pei’s belt, slowing her fall.

The attack also worsened Qin Tianhe’s own wound. He clutched his waist with one hand and leaned on the bat with the other, laughing.

“Heh… this is really touching. In that case, you can all die together!”

He swung the bat at the glass.

In an instant, the glass shattered. A whole panel collapsed inward like soft fabric, breaking into a web of cracks as the hot, sticky outdoor wind rushed in.

Qin Tianhe raised the bat again and pointed at them.

“Enough playing around!”

“It’s time to send you on your way!”

The bat came crashing down toward Wang Xuchao’s head—but at the very last moment, a loud explosion rang out behind them. The glass curtain wall shattered, and a tactical team kicked their way in.

The first person through was Huang Zhongsheng, who immediately fired at Qin Tianhe’s leg.

The pain made Qin Tianhe lose balance at once. The bat flew aside and smashed into the wall. The group swarmed him, pinning him to the ground and kicking the bat away.

Da Zhao grabbed Wang Pei and pulled her back from the edge.

Wang Xuchao collapsed on the floor, finally completely exhausted. Only then did he feel the pain in his arm, groaning continuously as he spat out blood.

“Ah—ah—ah— It hurts so much! Old Huang, kick Qin Tianhe a few times for me! That bastard is crazy—he drugged people, he’s trying to kill everyone!”

By then, Qin Tianhe had already been cuffed and dragged up from the ground.

Huang Zhongsheng waved his hand at Xu Jun and the others.

“Take him away. Don’t wait—bring him back to the bureau for interrogation immediately. Get a doctor to bandage him; he won’t die.”

At that moment, Zhou Hai had already entered. He glanced at the struggling Qin Tianhe and stepped aside as Xu Jun and the others escorted him out.

Only then did Zhou Hai walk straight to Wang Xuchao. Seeing him lying on the ground groaning, Zhou Hai squatted down and tapped his left arm.

That slight touch made Wang Xuchao jolt upright, staring wide-eyed.

“It hurts! I was drugged and you’re still bullying me? Is there any justice in this world?”

Huang Zhongsheng walked over and kicked him on the backside.

“You’re not dead, so get up! You’re already doing better than before. Aren’t you embarrassed? You got drugged twice—are you even a man? Trying to be a lone hero like in American movies? Your IQ is really worrying.”

Wang Xuchao grunted but didn’t argue.

He had indeed been too careless. But getting up wasn’t possible yet—the drugs were still affecting him and his body had no strength.

After briefly examining his arm, Zhou Hai stopped them from helping him up.

“Let him sit for now. Wait for the ambulance to come and fix his arm with a splint. There’s nothing here suitable for a brace. If we move him without fixing it, the arm could be ruined.”

Wang Xuchao leaned against the table leg, adjusting his position while gasping for breath.

“Zhou Hai, check on Wang Pei! Qin Tianhe injected something into her lower back!”

Zhou Hai gave him a cold glance and walked over to Wang Pei. After a brief examination, she was clearly under anesthesia, but otherwise not seriously injured.

Huang Zhongsheng crouched beside Wang Xuchao.

“You’re lucky. If we had arrived one minute later, you’d either have had your skull cracked open or fallen straight down like meat paste.”

Wang Xuchao nodded hard.

“Yeah… I should thank you. But how did you know there was danger here? Did you find evidence of Qin Tianhe killing people?”

Huang Zhongsheng shook his head and pointed at Zhou Hai.

“Zhou Hai discovered that after midnight on the 22nd, no vehicles or pedestrians left Golden Coast Residential Area. He had me check who among the related people owned property there.

I found that Wang Pei owned a unit in Golden Coast. Then we called you—no answer—so we rushed over. Luckily, we weren’t too late.

When we arrived downstairs, we saw a strip of tape with long hair stuck to it falling from above.

In a newly unused building, something like that couldn’t just appear by coincidence. Zhou Hai concluded you and Wang Pei were definitely in danger, so we rushed up with security.”

Wang Xuchao looked toward Zhou Hai, who was crouching beside Wang Pei. His lips pressed together tightly; that “thank you” felt too heavy.

As his gaze fell on Wang Pei, he saw tears streaming down her face as she looked at him with guilt.

She couldn’t speak because of the anesthesia and shock, but Wang Xuchao immediately understood what that look meant.

Perhaps Wang Pei hadn’t been completely unaware before this incident.

At least on the night of the 22nd, regarding Qin Tianhe’s alibi, she had lied.

But saving her wasn’t because of friendship or classmate ties. A life was a life.

Thinking this, Wang Xuchao’s expression eased slightly.

The sound of an ambulance came from outside, bringing a sense of relief to everyone.

Zhou Hai stood up, picked up the box containing the syringes, and placed it into a bag. Huang Zhongsheng glanced at him with some confusion.

“What’s wrong?”

Zhou Hai shook his head. Seeing that he didn’t want to explain, Huang Zhongsheng didn’t press further and instead directed people to guide the elevator access.

“Captian Huang, go ahead and start the interrogation. Don’t forget to search Qin Tianhe and Wang Pei’s residences, as well as related vehicles. I’ll go with the ambulance—I need to handle their injuries,” Zhou Hai said.

Huang Zhongsheng nodded.

At that moment, several people squeezed through the shattered glass entrance. The leader was the familiar Dr. He.

Seeing Zhou Hai and Wang Xuchao, he paused.

“Well, well… I just covered a shift in emergency duty, and I run into a scene like this?”

Zhou Hai leaned in and said a few words to him. Dr. He’s expression turned serious.

He instructed his team to carry Wang Pei down and brought a medical kit to Wang Xuchao’s side.

Zhou Hai helped stabilize the splint while watching Wang Xuchao’s grimacing expression with irritation.

“Once you reach the hospital, get his stomach washed immediately. He probably ingested some PCP. I’m not sure if his cognitive function will be affected later.”

Wang Xuchao’s eyes widened in shock.

Before he could respond, police officers lifted him up and carried him toward the exit.

From afar, his delayed shout echoed: “Ah! Gastric lavage—!”
