RMM -Chapter 342 Watching the Battle of Xi Zi

At this moment, Su Ruo was completely out of rational control. Her anger left no room for restraint, and soon enough, she tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth. Only then did she realize that she had actually bitten Xi Yuechen hard enough to draw blood.

Unconsciously, she released her teeth, then instinctively, as if verifying, stuck out her tongue to gently lick the spot she had bitten—only to taste an even stronger iron-like bloodiness. Panic shot through her, and she lifted her head in alarm.

“I…”

Su Ruo looked at the two crescent-shaped blood marks on Xi Yuechen’s strong arm and was suddenly overcome with guilt. She didn’t even know what to say. The anger in her heart had vanished somewhere unknown, replaced by overwhelming regret.

Right now, her only thought was to quickly bandage Xi Yuechen. She tried to turn and get out of bed, but before she could, Xi Yuechen firmly held her back.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

Xi Yuechen, of course, had seen the wound on his arm—but he didn’t think much of it. How many times had he come back from missions with injuries, some minor, some severe? He had always gotten through them. So a small, almost negligible bite like this was nothing to him. Only Su Ruo was visibly shaken by it.

Seeing her sudden movement, Xi Yuechen hadn’t reacted yet. He initially thought she was acting guilty and trying to sneak away, which made his face darken as he quickly stopped her.

“I’m going to get the first-aid kit! Can’t you see it’s bleeding? Hurry! Does it hurt?”

Su Ruo, unable to get out of bed, felt her eyes turn red with worry. She watched Xi Yuechen’s arm, heart aching, scolding herself for being reckless. How could she have bitten her commander hard enough to draw blood? It was too cruel. Why couldn’t she have just spoken calmly? She had truly been impulsive and thoughtless.

It wasn’t surprising that Su Ruo reacted so strongly. She had always been careful around Xi Yuechen, fully aware of the dangers of his profession, and knew he must have sustained countless injuries over the years—but all of those happened when she wasn’t watching. That was an unavoidable reality for a soldier, one she had to accept no matter how much it hurt her heart.

However, outside, her commander could endure hardship and pain. But at home? No. As long as she was there, she wanted to provide the absolute best environment for him—something she had quietly resolved long ago. Yet she never expected that one day, her commander would be injured not by any external threat, but by her own impulsive bite.

Of course she couldn’t remain calm.

Xi Yuechen initially thought Su Ruo wanted to escape, but after hearing her explanation and seeing the panic and distress on her face, he suddenly felt at ease.

He didn’t care about the wound on his arm. What mattered was her reaction. Seeing how much she cared, Xi Yuechen—ever the commanding officer—oddly felt that perhaps the bite marks could have been even deeper.

“It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry about it,” he said, casually and nonchalantly, as if the blood on his arm belonged to someone else entirely.

Su Ruo, seeing his indifferent attitude, was furious. She broke free from his hold. “What do you mean it’s fine? It’s bleeding! How can you be so careless?”

Xi Yuechen rarely saw Su Ruo lose her temper, yet today he had witnessed it several times. Honestly, he found it rather intriguing. When the little woman got angry, she resembled a spiky, bristling cat—or a prickly little hedgehog. She looked fierce and unapproachable, yet there was something undeniably cute about it.

Seeing Su Ruo now, angry, distressed, and on high alert, he didn’t stop her this time. He let her rush to the bathroom to fetch the home first-aid kit.

The commotion between them had already woken Xi Zi, who was sitting on his little bed, wide-eyed, watching the scene unfold on the big bed.

The little one wasn’t fully awake yet, so he wobbled upright and stared at the adults on the bed, utterly bewildered. After nearly three years of life, he had never seen his parents turn red in anger, much less get physically aggressive with each other.

Though Xi Zi froze on his little bed, he wasn’t exactly scared. He didn’t yet understand what was happening, and even though his parents were “fighting,” the atmosphere wasn’t tense or threatening. A child’s instinct told him that while it looked fierce, it wasn’t dangerous. So, the little one sat quietly, lips pressed together, eyes wide, observing the escalating “battle.”

Thus, Xi Zi witnessed his mother being spanked by his father and his father being bitten by his mother—all in one fell swoop. Tsk tsk, was it really appropriate for such a small child to be so close to this violent spectacle?

Finally, Xi Zi, who normally wore a calm expression like his father, showed some subtle changes. Especially when he saw his father striking his mother, his eyebrows furrowed, and his small face clearly showed a mixture of confusion and surprise.

Having never been punished or scolded before, and certainly never spanked, this was a shocking revelation for Xi Zi. He was realizing, for the first time, that a bottom could indeed be “hit.”

As Xi Zi debated whether to step forward to help Su Ruo, the situation took a dramatic turn.

When he saw his mother bite his father decisively, his eyes widened in astonishment. After a moment of surprise, he quietly withdrew his halfway-raised hand and swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue, continuing to silently watch the “battle.”

After Su Ruo rushed out of the room, Xi Zi timidly got down from his bed and took small steps to stand beside Xi Yuechen. He glanced at the bleeding arm, his pupils contracting instantly—clearly intimidated by his mother’s combat prowess. He had never realized that usually gentle and slightly sleepy Mom could be so formidable, even drawing blood from Dad.

In Xi Zi’s mind, Xi Yuechen was an indestructible, unparalleled figure—the strongest, most invincible person in the world. Seeing him in such a “pitiful state” inspired a bit of awe toward his mother. Xi Zi silently resolved: never make Mom angry.

“Dad, does it hurt?”

Xi Zi had rarely seen blood, so seeing his father’s arm made it feel serious. He frowned, tilting his head upward with concern, asking cautiously.
