“Get up. I’ve just arrived here, and I don’t know much about the situation. I’ll still need you all to gather information later. Just don’t resent the hard work,” Zhang Jiaohua said.

Yuan Suihu’s face lit up immediately, and he stood up quickly: “In that case, Immortal, please stay at the Yuan family residence for some time. All our Yuan clansmen will mobilize to gather news for you.”

“Very well then,” Zhang Jiaohua nodded.

The Yuan hunting party was overjoyed. Yuan Suihu hurriedly urged: “The Immortal has spoken—why haven’t you packed up the prey yet? Quickly tidy everything and set off!”

The hunting team swiftly gathered their game. Despite the fierce battle, their spoils hadn’t suffered much loss.

Soon, everything was packed and they were ready to depart.

As Zhang Jiaohua was about to leave with the Yuan family, the wolf king suddenly got up and followed after them.

“What do you want?” Zhang Jiaohua turned to face it.

The wolf king immediately lay prone on the ground, showing a pleading expression.

“You want to follow me?” Zhang Jiaohua asked.

The wolf king wagged its tail like a dog, walked up to him, and even licked his shoe. Zhang Jiaohua’s leather shoes shone brightly after being licked.

“Alright then, you may follow me from now on. Whatever fortune comes your way will depend on you.” Seeing that this wolf king was the first spirit beast he had encountered upon entering the Immortal Realm, and knowing how difficult its cultivation must have been, Zhang Jiaohua decided to take it in as a spirit pet. In truth, given his current cultivation, taking in a spirit beast that had only just reached the early stage of Refining Essence into Qi was of little actual benefit.

The Yuan clansmen were even more awed, seeing that the wolf king, which had almost annihilated their hunting party, had now become the Immortal’s spirit pet. They revered Zhang Jiaohua like a god.

When Zhang Jiaohua arrived at the Yuan family’s settlement, he discovered it was a natural blessed land, brimming with spiritual energy. Especially where the Yuan ancestral home stood—there was even a spiritual vein, and the spiritual spring was on par with the secret hot spring at Meishan.

What puzzled Zhang Jiaohua, however, was that in such a rich environment, the Yuan family had produced only martial artists, but not a single cultivator.

He suspected something was wrong here, though he couldn’t yet tell what. For now, he decided to stay in Yuan Village to gradually probe into the Yuan family’s secrets, while also using them to learn more about this world.

Zhang Jiaohua knew this world was definitely not as peaceful as it appeared. Hidden dangers must be lurking somewhere unknown. Charging about recklessly would not be wise.

“Immortal, the meal has been prepared. Please, come and eat,” Yuan Suihu said, behaving like a servant.

“Alright. Yuan Suihu, you don’t need to be so overly respectful. In the next few days, I’ll choose suitable people from your Yuan family to pass down cultivation techniques. But whether or not they succeed—I can’t say for certain,” Zhang Jiaohua said.

“Please rest assured, Immortal. If my Yuan clan has no fate to ascend, we will not bear any resentment. We will still serve you with all our hearts.” Yuan Suihu immediately bowed low again.

Zhang Jiaohua chuckled. People in this world really loved prostrating themselves. Still, he didn’t bother to stop them—when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

The Yuan family prepared a lavish feast for him, and Zhang Jiaohua noticed that every dish was brimming with spiritual energy. With such an abundant environment, even plants carried spiritual essence. Yet, under these conditions, the Yuan family had not produced a single cultivator—this was truly baffling.

As for the wolf king, although it had nearly destroyed the hunting team and gravely injured many Yuan clansmen, ever since becoming Zhang Jiaohua’s spirit pet, it was treated with great respect and given plenty of food. The wolf king was not polite about it—within moments, it had devoured every piece of meat offered to it. After eating, it lay down beside Zhang Jiaohua.

With a flick of Zhang Jiaohua’s hand, the wolf king vanished.

The next moment, it appeared inside the Cultivation Diagram.

“Where did this little doggy come from?” the Leopard exclaimed, pouncing on the wolf king at once.

The Leopard had already taken human form, though still looking like a little child. Even so, standing before him terrified the wolf king into trembling.

“Leopard, I’ll leave this fellow to you. Train it well. Let it cultivate here for now,” Zhang Jiaohua’s voice echoed.

“Don’t worry, Jiaohua, I’ll teach it properly,” the Leopard said excitedly.

The Fat Cat, now a chubby little child, piped up: “Jiaohua, I’ll help too!”

“I’ll help too, Jiaohua,” the Fat Monkey quickly added.

Zhang Jiaohua ignored them—it would all depend on the wolf king’s own fortune.

With just a gesture, the spirit pet disappeared, startling the Yuan family. For a spirit beast to vanish like that—let alone an ordinary person—it was a terrifying sight. If Zhang Jiaohua grew angry, a mere stomp could wipe out the Yuan family. Instantly, they were all trembling and cautious around him.

But Yuan Suihu did not regret anything. If Zhang Jiaohua were truly a merciless fiend, why would he have saved the hunting party? To them, their lives had been returned by him. They revered him like a god; even if he commanded them to die, they would not hesitate.

“Why are you all so nervous?” Zhang Jiaohua asked in confusion.

The Yuan clansmen grew even more flustered, leaving him utterly perplexed. He hadn’t realized that his casual action had frightened them so badly.

Yuan Suihu quickly said, “All of you, withdraw. I will remain here to serve the Immortal.”

Only then did the Yuan people retreat in relief.

“Immortal, would you like someone to attend you for the night?” Yuan Suihu asked.

That startled Zhang Jiaohua: “No, no. Yuan Suihu, there’s no need for such unnecessary arrangements. You may leave too. If I need anything, I’ll call for you.”

Seeing his reaction, Yuan Suihu immediately withdrew. Still, he realized Zhang Jiaohua was not a bloodthirsty demon. Yet, the way the wolf king had vanished in an instant continued to puzzle him.

“Descending Immortal Mountain, Gathering Immortals Village…” Zhang Jiaohua murmured. These place names felt strange. His arrival here could hardly be pure coincidence.

The Yuan family itself was also odd. The next day, Zhang Jiaohua planned to investigate them carefully—to see whether they truly lacked the talent for cultivation, or if there was another reason.
