Villa Number One at Golden Water Bay.
Before the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, the lake shimmered beautifully.
Although the water was still a bit murky and construction materials were piled along the shore, none of that stopped Su Wanyi from losing her mind.
Wearing her worn-out high heels, she carefully stepped across the imported Italian marble flooring, every step feeling like she was walking on clouds.
“Genuine leather sofas… Swarovski crystal chandeliers… fully automatic toilets…”
Su Wanyi clutched her chest, feeling short of breath.
“Little Yu… this really belongs to us?”
Su Qian was even more excited, like a chick freshly released from its cage. She ran around the several-hundred-square-meter living room before diving into a walk-in closet larger than her old bedroom and screaming with joy.
And yet, in this luxurious mansion overflowing with the decadent smell of money, the person whose vibe clashed the hardest with the surroundings was still Yu Xian.
He was currently squatting beside a six-figure leather sofa, fully focused on wrapping tape around the burnt-black toilet plunger handle.
Riiip—
Cheap transparent tape peeled away noisily.
He forcibly attached a twenty-yuan street-market fishing reel onto the so-called magical artifact known as the “Dragon-Subduing Whip.”
“Perfect.”
Yu Xian flicked the “Dragon-Subduing Whip” lovingly, his gaze even more affectionate than someone looking at their first love.
Su Wanyi’s mouth twitched violently as she covered her forehead in despair.
“You… really plan to take that drain-unclogging thing to the most expensive lakeside in all of Jiangcheng?”
“Shallow-minded.”
Yu Xian grabbed a frozen chunk of meat from the fridge. Wearing flip-flops and holding a toilet plunger, his aura somehow still reached two meters tall.
“Anything can be used for fishing. Let’s go test the waters.”
…
At the lakeside construction site, the blazing sun hung overhead.
Wang Dafu was currently spraying spit at the foreman while yelling:
“Who told you to pour cement here?! The Master said to plant reeds to gather qi! If you dare mess around again, I’ll seal you inside a concrete pillar myself!”
“President Wang, this is prime lakeside property…” the foreman said with a constipated expression.
As they argued, a lazy-looking figure wandered over.
Wang Dafu’s eyes lit up instantly. He transformed from a Tibetan mastiff into a lapdog and hurried over eagerly.
“Master! You’ve come to inspect the formation?”
The surrounding workers glanced over with strange expressions.
That’s the master?
Baggy shorts, flip-flops, and holding a… fire poker?
Wait, wasn’t that a freaking toilet plunger?!
Ignoring everyone’s stares, Yu Xian walked straight to the shore and glanced into the water, frowning deeply.
“The water’s too skinny.”
The newly dug artificial lake lacked microorganisms. The fish weren’t biting.
“Skinny?” Wang Dafu froze for a moment as his imagination instantly overloaded.
“The Master means… the financial qi is weak? The wealth can’t accumulate?”
Too lazy to explain ecological chains, Yu Xian casually ordered:
“There’s no life in the water. Go bring two truckloads of fermented chicken manure and dump it all in.”
“Chicken manure?!”
The construction foreman nearly jumped on the spot.
“President Wang! This is a luxury villa district! If we dump chicken manure in there, the smell will be unbearable! The homeowners will smash the sales office!”
Even Wang Dafu hesitated.
“Master, this…”
“You want this gameboard to come alive or not?”
Yu Xian hooked the meat onto the fishing hook skillfully without even looking up.
“This is called ‘lotus blooming from the mud.’ Today’s stink creates tomorrow’s fragrance. If you don’t understand, just do it.”
In reality, it was just basic water fertilization, but how would these country bumpkins know that?
Wang Dafu gritted his teeth and slapped his thigh fiercely.
“We listen to the Master! Dump it! We want that manure smell! That’s what grounding the qi and gathering wealth means! Go!”
The foremen looked at him like he’d gone insane as they went to arrange it.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
Standing by the shore, Yu Xian flicked his wrist.
The toilet plunger rod traced an unbelievably bizarre arc through the air.
Whoosh—!
To be fair, the plastic rod’s flexibility was absolutely monstrous.
The meat bait landed perfectly in a backwater bay over thirty meters away.
Yu Xian stuck the “Dragon-Subduing Whip” into the mud, found a brick to sit on, and closed his eyes to rest.
Ten minutes.
Twenty minutes.
The workers nearby began whispering among themselves with mocking expressions.
“He thinks he can catch fish with that? Looks more like he’s trying to catch ghosts.”
“Fishing with a toilet plunger? That guy’s definitely mentally ill. President Wang must’ve been scammed.”
Standing behind them, Su Wanyi blushed so hard she wanted to crawl into a crack in the ground.
Wang Dafu’s legs had gone numb from standing so long. Unable to hold back anymore, he cautiously asked:
“Master… will there really be any movement?”
“Shhh.”
Yu Xian didn’t even open his eyes.
“Haste makes waste. Those willing will bite—”
Before he could finish—
The toilet plunger rod stuck in the mud suddenly jerked violently downward!
Then it bent into a perfect full moon arc!
BZZZZNNNG—!!
The cheap plastic rod actually emitted a shrill vibration like a screaming erhu instrument!
“Holy shit!”
The foreman dropped his cigarette in shock.
“There’s really something there?!”
Yu Xian’s eyes snapped open.
The lazy salted-fish aura around him instantly vanished.
That feeling…
Heavy!
Ridiculously heavy!
“A monster fish! It has to be a monster fish!”
But this rod was specially modified—
No, wait, even modified, it was still just plastic and transparent tape!
If he forcefully reeled it in, the rod would definitely explode!
“Tch. Annoying.”
Yu Xian loosened the drag slightly and waved impatiently toward the stunned Wang Dafu nearby.
“What are you staring at? It’s snagged on the bottom. Send your people down to feel around. Be gentle. Don’t scare my fish, and definitely don’t snap my line.”
The moment Wang Dafu heard this, his entire body trembled as his imagination radar blasted into overdrive.
Snagged?
No!
This was clearly a hidden dragon lurking beneath the abyss, unwilling to emerge! The Master was borrowing human strength to “invite the dragon out”!
“Move! What are you all standing around for?!”
Wang Dafu roared like a battlefield commander, veins bulging in his neck.
“Get down there! The Master has hooked the Dragon King himself! If anyone snaps that line, I’ll bury him with it! Get down there and lift it up!”
Splash! Splash!
Though the workers were muttering to themselves internally, they feared their boss more and jumped into the muddy water one after another like dumplings being dropped into soup.
Yu Xian sat steadily like an ancient fishing sage, chewing on a blade of grass while yawning nonstop.
Definitely because Su Qian had been noisy last night and interrupted his sleep.
Holding the toilet plunger rod, he casually directed them:
“A little more left… yeah, deeper there… careful, it’s a tough one.”
Several strong swimmers dove underwater.
A few seconds later, chaos erupted on the surface.
“I touched it! It’s hard! Covered in iron scales!”
“I touched it too! It’s square-shaped… holy crap, why does this dragon look like a metal block?!”
“It’s too heavy! We can’t lift it! Bring a crane! Hurry!”
The shore descended into chaos as ropes were tied and cranes activated.
Watching the scene, Yu Xian’s eyelid twitched.
For one fish, was a crane really necessary?
Had fish evolved armor now?
“Lift—!!”
Amid the roaring crane engines and the synchronized shouts of dozens of workers, the lake surface churned violently as mud splashed everywhere.
A massive object covered in sludge slowly emerged from the water.
“It’s coming out! The dragon’s turning over!” Wang Dafu covered his eyes in terror, afraid the dragon aura might hit him.
BOOM!
The gigantic object, tangled with weeds and caked in mud, slammed heavily onto the soft shore.
Silence fell across the entire site.
There was no golden-scaled dragon.
No giant grass carp.
Instead—
It was a gigantic rust-covered safe, half the height of a man.
Yu Xian stared at the metal box.
The toilet plunger slipped from his hand with a clack.
His face darkened like the bottom of a pot.
His mentality completely collapsed.
No catch.
Another damn day with no fish!
So after all that chaos—workers diving in, cranes operating—they’d just salvaged a metal cabinet for him?!
“Which idiot threw this giant piece of trash into the lake?! Where’s your public decency?!”
Yu Xian was so angry he wanted to kick it twice.
Could this thing be boiled into soup?
Braised?
Of course not!
But before he could explode in anger, a heart-wrenching scream suddenly erupted beside him, sounding like someone had just lost their father.
“Dad—!!!”
Wang Dafu charged over like a mad dog, ignoring the mud all over himself as he frantically wiped the blurry steel stamp on the cabinet door with his sleeve.
“Th-this… this is the safe my father lost during the kidnapping back then?!”
His hands shook like a Parkinson’s patient. Tears and snot streamed down his face as his voice cracked.
“Inside… inside are the original land deeds our company lost ten years ago! Several prime downtown plots! They’re worth billions!!”
BOOM!
The entire crowd exploded in shock!
Every worker’s jaw hit the floor.
Ten years ago, the founder of Hongda Group had been kidnapped, and the missing land deeds nearly bankrupted the company. It had remained one of Jiangcheng’s unsolved mysteries.
Who could’ve imagined the safe had sunk into this underground river channel that had only just been opened?
And even more unbelievable—
This “master” had fished it out with a freaking toilet plunger, without even using any mystical energy, merely by directing a few workers?!
THUD!
Without hesitation, Wang Dafu dropped to his knees in the mud and kowtowed three times violently toward Yu Xian.
“Divine man! You are truly a divine man!!”
“This wasn’t fishing—it was fishing back my life! Fishing back half of Hongda Group’s empire!”
Yu Xian: …
Looking at the broken safe, then at the fat man crying hysterically on the ground, only one sentence echoed through his mind:
What the actual hell…
All he wanted was to catch a crucian carp and make some soup. Why was that so difficult?
“Master! I, Wang Dafu, will never forget this kindness!”
Wang Dafu was so emotional he could barely speak, his face full of fanatical worship.
“This lake! From now on it belongs to you personally! The villa will be transferred immediately! From now on, you’re my real father!!”
“Don’t randomly call me dad. I already have a daughter.”
Yu Xian sighed deeply and gloomily picked up the “Dragon-Subduing Whip,” his eyes filled with the despair only a top-tier fisherman could understand.
“Drag this junk away and stop polluting the water source. And remember the chicken manure tomorrow. Not one truck less.”
With that, he turned and walked away in disappointment, his lonely back looking desolate and isolated.
In the eyes of Su Wanyi and the others, this was the demeanor of a true master—someone who viewed billions like dirt and left after accomplishing greatness.
Only Yu Xian himself knew the cry hidden deep within his soul:
“Does the curse of the empty-handed fisherman truly have no solution… no matter before or after transmigration?”
Under the setting sun, his shadow stretched long across the ground.
And hidden within the nearby grass, several greedy pairs of eyes stared fixedly at the safe that had just been salvaged as they quietly picked up their phones…
