Ling Yue had no intention of telling Yu Ziqing about it.
Madam Jiang’s situation was a secret.
Once too many people knew, it would no longer be a secret.
“Brother Ziqing, did you need something from me?” Ling Yue asked with a smile.
Hearing that, Yu Ziqing took a letter from inside his robe and handed it to her.
“A few days ago, I went back to Xiangxi Town to collect some merchandise. Your eldest uncle asked me to deliver this letter to your eldest brother.”
“I was originally planning to take it to the Ministry of Personnel Residence, but when I went next door to check the accounts, I heard you were here.”
“So this works out perfectly. You can take it back yourself, and I won’t have to make another trip.”
“Thank you,” Ling Yue said politely as she accepted the letter.
She was about to tuck it into her robe and give it to Ling Yu when she returned home.
However, Yu Ziqing added meaningfully,
“You’d better read it first.”
Ling Yue frowned.
“Didn’t you say it was for my eldest brother?”
“It’s still your family’s business,” Yu Ziqing replied casually. “It’s not as if you’re forbidden from knowing.”
Then, smiling mysteriously, he added,
“It concerns your grandfather, your grandmother, and your Third Uncle.”
Ling Yue’s brows furrowed even deeper, and a trace of impatience flashed across her eyes.
What are those two old troublemakers up to this time?
“I’ve delivered the letter, so I’ll be going now.”
Without saying anything more, Yu Ziqing swaggered away, leisurely fanning himself with his folding fan.
After watching him leave, Ling Yue finally opened the envelope.
Zhao Xiaoyu’s expression changed, and she quickly reminded her,
“Miss Yue, Young Master Yu already said that letter is for Lord Ling. Reading someone else’s letter without his permission will make him angry if he finds out.”
Ling Yue remained calm as she continued opening the letter.
“You don’t know what kind of people my grandparents are. If you did, you wouldn’t be saying that.”
Ling Yu was now a high-ranking minister.
Many things were no longer convenient for him to handle personally.
If those two old people behaved themselves, that would be one thing.
But if they started causing trouble…
She didn’t mind dealing with them on her brother’s behalf.
No one—
Absolutely no one—
Was allowed to disturb the hard-earned happiness of their family.
Not even those two old people.
Ling Yue unfolded the letter and quickly skimmed through its contents.
The moment she finished reading, she slammed her palm onto the table.
“I knew they wouldn’t stay out of trouble!”
The letter explained that after hearing Ling Yu had become a high-ranking official in the capital, her grandparents had brought Ling Cangshun with them to seek him out.
Ling Cangshan had done everything he could to stop them.
But while he wasn’t paying attention, the old couple had secretly run away.
They had even sold their old house in Huanshan Village.
What kind of situation was the Minister’s Residence in now?
Countless people were watching it.
Ling Yu already possessed that extraordinary identity.
Meanwhile, Madam Jiang had replaced Gu Yanshuang as the Second Prince’s Princess Consort.
There were simply too many secrets hidden within the Minister’s Residence.
Yet those two old troublemakers had chosen this exact moment to stir up chaos.
If they noticed anything unusual…
There was no way those secrets would remain hidden.
Just thinking about it gave Ling Yue a headache.
Taking a deep breath, she read the letter again and calculated the dates.
Her grandparents and Ling Cangshun had left Xiangxi Town over two months ago.
That meant they had almost certainly already arrived in the capital.
Which raised the obvious question.
Where were they now?
She had to find them immediately.
Either send them away…
Or give them some money.
But…
Could those three really be gotten rid of with just a little money?
How annoying…
If only this world didn’t have such irritating flies…
The thought had barely crossed her mind before Ling Yue froze.
…How could I think something so frightening?
She had promised her sister-in-law that she would become a refined young lady.
“Miss Yue, what’s wrong?”
Seeing that something was off, Zhao Xiaoyu asked cautiously.
“It’s nothing.”
Ling Yue tucked the letter away, her expression complicated.
“You stay here and keep an eye on the craftsmen’s progress. I have something important to take care of, so I’ll be leaving first.”
With that, she hurried away, clutching the letter tightly in her hand.
