This lifetime…
“Husband, I’m ready!”
Tang Wan walked out carrying a small wicker basket on her back.
Her face was bare of makeup, yet the tiny tear-shaped beauty mark at the corner of her eye added a hint of seductive charm to her naturally cool and stunning features.
Whenever she looked at him, her eyes were always bright—
Filled with a gentle radiance.
Warm.
Tender.
Enchanting.
Little by little, they softened the heart that had been frozen for so long.
“I have nothing else to do,” Ling Yu said with a smile as he extended his hand toward her. “I’ll accompany you.”
The golden light of the setting sun fell softly over him, making him seem as dazzling as flowers in full bloom.
His breathtakingly handsome face was enough to steal anyone’s heart.
A trace of infatuation appeared in Tang Wan’s eyes.
Almost instinctively, she placed her small hand into his broad palm.
The handsome man and the beautiful woman together formed a picture of flawless perfection.
Even Wan Zhenxiang was captivated by the sight.
He secretly sighed to himself.
What a match made in heaven… They truly are an immortal couple destined for each other.
…
The young couple boarded a carriage and headed for the imperial palace.
Not long after they left, Ling Yue also went out with Zhao Xiaoyu.
Recently, she had been so busy that she was nearly dizzy, leaving early every morning and returning late every night.
The storefront for the gambling-stone workshop had long since been chosen.
It was one of the properties Madam Jiang had given her, located right beside Yu Ziqing’s cosmetics shop.
However, it was much larger than his.
The shop had previously sold antiques and jade.
After taking it over, Ling Yue immediately began renovations, personally planning every detail of the interior.
As Zhao Xiaoyu watched the young girl walking ahead of her—who wasn’t much older than herself—a deep sense of admiration welled up inside her.
Throughout these busy days, she had stayed by Ling Yue’s side.
No one understood better than she did just how hardworking and capable Ling Yue truly was.
At such a young age, she had already built such a large business.
Unlike herself…
She sighed inwardly.
Why is the gap between people so enormous?
Unaware of her thoughts, Ling Yue led her into the gambling-stone workshop.
It was a massive four-story building.
Since it had previously operated as an antique and jade shop, much of the interior was already in place, making the renovations relatively easy.
Ling Yue had come today because the third and fourth floors had finally been completed.
The master craftsman in charge immediately put down his work when he saw her arrive and respectfully came forward to greet her.
He personally escorted her upstairs.
“Miss Yue, the changes to the third and fourth floors were completed exactly according to your instructions. Please have a look. If you’re not satisfied with anything, I’ll make the necessary adjustments.”
“All right. Let me take a look first.”
Following the craftsman upstairs, Ling Yue carefully inspected every corner, overlooking nothing.
She had to admit that the craftsman’s workmanship was excellent.
Everything had been built exactly according to her plans.
His craftsmanship far surpassed that of the craftsmen back in Xiangxi Town.
The intricately carved beams, along with the pillars, doors, and windows engraved with drifting-cloud patterns, all exuded a sense of refined classical elegance.
Ling Yue was extremely pleased.
She first praised the craftsman generously before tactfully pointing out a few minor details she wasn’t completely satisfied with.
The craftsman carefully committed each suggestion to memory and promised to make the necessary improvements.
Just then, someone came upstairs to report,
“Miss Yue, Young Master Yu has arrived.”
“I’ll be right there.”
After giving the craftsman a few more instructions, Ling Yue took Zhao Xiaoyu downstairs.
Yu Ziqing was already downstairs, admiring the gambling-stone workshop.
The moment he saw her coming down, he glared at her unhappily.
“This shop isn’t even as nice as mine!”
The tables and chairs all looked somewhat old.
Unlike his cosmetics shop, where everything was brand new.
If Ling Yue had chosen his shop instead, there wouldn’t have been any need for renovations at all.
Ling Yue smiled.
“They’re about the same. Since it’s going to be a gambling-stone workshop anyway, it’s better for it to be larger.”
As for the fact that the Second Prince’s Princess Consort had been replaced by someone else…
Aside from the Emperor, only the Second Branch of the Ling family knew about it.
