“Who is it?” Jiang-shi went to open the door.
The next moment, Madam Yang burst in.
Her face was streaked with tears, and she clutched Jiang-shi tightly. “Liniang, is Wan-niang here? I beg you, please save my husband—please!”
“Yang-mei, don’t cry first. What happened? Tell me clearly!” Jiang-shi frowned, confused.
Through sobs, Madam Yang explained—
Li Wu and his father had come back, but they were carried home.
Li Dashan had a head injury and was unconscious.
Li Wu was badly wounded—his abdomen had a huge gash, and his intestines were exposed.
Doctor Zhang couldn’t treat such injuries and advised her to hurry to town to get a doctor to see if there was still hope.
There was an ox cart in the village, but an ox cart was nowhere near as fast as a horse cart.
That was when Madam Yang thought of the horse Tang Wan had bought, so she came here.
Just as she was explaining, Tang Wan came out.
“Wan-niang, Wan-niang… I know your horse is still sick, but I really have no choice. If anything happens to my husband, how will I go on? Please, could you lend me the horse? I’ll repay you in the future, even if I have to work like an ox or a horse for you!” Madam Yang immediately rushed toward her.
Tang Wan supported her and frowned. “Going to town—it’s too late!”
Madam Yang cried even harder at that.
She thought Tang Wan was refusing.
But unexpectedly, the next moment Tang Wan said, “Take me there!”
“Huh?” Madam Yang froze, not understanding at first.
“Go!” Tang Wan didn’t have time to explain. She grabbed Madam Yang and hurried out so fast that even Jiang-shi didn’t react in time.
Jiang-shi quickly told Lingyue to follow them, in case anything happened.
Madam Yang’s house was bustling.
More than a dozen villagers crowded inside, all staring anxiously at the unconscious Li Wu lying on the bed.
Some kept urging Doctor Zhang to think of a way.
Doctor Zhang was already extremely annoyed. He didn’t want to stay—he wanted to go home—but the villagers wouldn’t let him leave.
Li Wu’s belly was torn open. How could that be cured? If he died, it would only bring trouble to himself!
He refused to treat him.
At that moment, Madam Yang arrived with Tang Wan.
Tang Wan stepped inside, saw the packed room, and immediately frowned.
“Aunt Yang, boil water!”
She said this as she hurried forward to examine Li Wu’s injuries.
The villagers looked at each other, not reacting for a moment.
Doctor Zhang gave Tang Wan a strange look and said to Madam Yang, “Didn’t I tell you to fetch someone from town? Why did you bring her here to make trouble?”
“I… I…” Madam Yang was puzzled too.
On the way here, Tang Wan hadn’t explained a thing—she had just followed her straight over!
Tang Wan ignored him. Li Wu’s whole body was covered in wounds, like a man drenched in blood. The worst was the deep slash from his left chest to his lower abdomen, still oozing blood, with part of his intestine exposed.
It had to be stitched up immediately!
Doctor Zhang still wouldn’t let up, glaring at Tang Wan sternly. “You still want to treat him? Ridiculous! If he dies, whose responsibility will it be? Let me tell you, Young Master Yu’s wife, this is not something women should—hey… what are you doing? Ow—!”
Before he could finish, Tang Wan grabbed him and tossed him outside—the medicine chest still inside.
That single move silenced everyone in the room, even Doctor Zhang, who no longer dared to protest.
They suddenly remembered—this was Tang Wan, the fierce woman who had killed an earth dragon.
Talking back to her was practically asking for death!
“Aunt Yang, boil hot water!” Tang Wan ordered again.
This time, Aunt Yang didn’t dare disobey.
“I’ve already got hot water boiling, I’ll bring it!”
“Don’t go—I’ll get it!”
