Damn it!
Who could tolerate this?!
Ling Yue looked at the two people fighting over there, then at Madam Jiang and little Ling Chen lying unconscious not far away.
If she rushed out now and tried to carry them both away, she’d probably die even faster, right?
What should she do? What should she do?!
Just as Ling Yue was panicking, a voice suddenly came:
“Psst, psst…”
Ling Yue: ??
“Psst, psst… over here, you dumb second sister!”
Following the sound, Ling Yue looked over—and her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Lying on the ground, Ling Chen—who was supposed to be knocked out—had his eyes half-open and was baring his teeth at her.
At that moment, Ling Yue almost wanted to curse out loud.
You’re not unconscious?!
Ling Chen rolled his eyes.
Of course he wasn’t unconscious!
Their sister-in-law had taught him that the back of the neck has many blood vessels and nerves. A strike there can damage them and temporarily cut off blood supply to the brain, causing fainting.
So the moment he sensed someone behind him, he instinctively shifted half an inch, avoiding a vital hit—and naturally didn’t pass out.
He only pretended to faint because the enemy was far stronger than them, hoping to buy time.
But unexpectedly, he didn’t even need to stall—Su Xi had already returned.
Now the biggest problem was that Su Xi was no match for that man!
In extraordinary times, extraordinary measures were needed!
Ling Chen silently mouthed to Ling Yue: Calming incense!
Ling Yue: ?
“I’m your mom?”
What nonsense is that?
Ling Chen was about to be speechless from frustration and continued mouthing the words.
Thankfully, Ling Yue finally understood.
Calming incense!
Their sister-in-law’s calming incense!
Ling Yue nodded, then quietly slipped back into the room. She rummaged through their belongings, quickly took out the calming incense, stuffed two cloth strips into her nostrils, and hurriedly lit it.
Outside, Su Xi had already taken several blows from the Shadow Master and coughed up blood.
Yet she was still desperately blocking him!
She should be grateful the Shadow Master had no intent to kill—
otherwise, she’d already be dead!
Ling Yue lit the incense and came out.
The moment Ling Chen saw her, he didn’t say a word—he hoisted Madam Jiang onto his back and ran into the room!
The Shadow Master noticed the movement and no longer had the patience to deal with Su Xi. He struck her away with a palm and chased after them.
Things had escalated to this point—no matter what, he had to achieve his goal.
But the moment he stepped into the room, he caught a scent in the air.
The Shadow Master didn’t think much of it at first and quickly scanned the room.
It wasn’t large—there weren’t many places to hide. Aside from the wardrobe, there was only the inner chamber.
He first opened the wardrobe—no one inside—then walked into the inner chamber.
Passing the screen, the scent in the air grew even stronger.
And finally, he saw them in the corner—
Madam Jiang was unconscious, supported by Ling Yue, who had cloth stuffed in her nostrils.
Ling Chen stood in front of them, glaring at him fiercely like a little wolf cub, his own nose also stuffed with cloth—making him look a bit ridiculous.
Stuffed noses?
Wait… something’s wrong!
He suddenly felt a little dizzy!
The Shadow Master’s expression changed.
It’s a knockout incense!
Someone explain to him—why does this family have such powerful incense?!
It’s almost as potent as those strong sedative drugs!
Not daring to delay any longer, the Shadow Master rushed at Ling Chen. In just two moves, he knocked him down, then went to grab Madam Jiang.
Ling Yue screamed, “I’ll fight you to the death!”
As she spoke, she jumped onto the Shadow Master’s back and tried to bite his ear.
The Shadow Master was utterly speechless. With one hand protecting his ear, he grabbed Madam Jiang with the other, hoisted her onto his shoulder, turned, and ran.
The incense was too strong—his head was already growing heavy. He had to leave immediately!
With a troublesome little girl clinging to his back and a woman slung over his shoulder, the Shadow Master dashed out of the room and disappeared in a few swift movements.
