“How long?”

“Uh… about a day.”

“Alright, you must save one for me!”

Tang Wan gave him a few more instructions and had him move three clean chairs onto the deck.

She and her handsome husband each took one, and the third was used for their luggage—perfect.

Given the circumstances, they could only make do like this for a day.

The boatman quickly agreed and had his men bring the chairs over.

When the couple arrived on deck, they found quite a few people there.

Many of them hadn’t even managed to get a room.

They found a quiet corner, set down their luggage, and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Ancient ships weren’t as fast as modern ones. The river breeze wasn’t strong, but Tang Wan still worried her husband might catch a cold, so she took out a thin blanket for him.

Ling Yu chuckled. “I don’t need it, it’s not cold.”

“Put it over your legs, just in case,” Tang Wan insisted, stuffing the blanket into his hands.

It might not be cold during the day, but who knew about the night?

She just hoped a Class A room would free up soon.

What the two didn’t know was that at this very moment, someone on the third deck was watching them… or rather, watching Tang Wan.

Gu Chengwen fanned himself as he boldly sized her up and recited a poem:

“Lotus-leaf skirt, beneath blue waters and sky,
A face like a lotus—like a celestial maiden.”

The servant beside him rolled his eyes and said ingratiatingly, “Young Master, shall I invite that young lady up here?”

“Not appropriate,” Gu Chengwen said, though his gaze remained fixed on Tang Wan. “Judging by her hairstyle, she’s already married. The man beside her should be her husband.”

As he spoke, he cast a disdainful glance at Ling Yu.

Just a pretty boy. Women these days are so shallow.

Unlike himself—talented and of noble status!

The servant also looked at Ling Yu with contempt. “How could a man like that compare to you, Young Master? As long as you stand before that lady, I guarantee she’ll come with you!”

Gu Chengwen smiled faintly. “Is that so? Then go invite her up for a gathering.”

He had seen too many women who chased wealth and status—this one would be no different.

Though, she was quite beautiful. Worth playing with.

The servant acknowledged the order and hurried downstairs to find Tang Wan.

Tang Wan had no idea she had been targeted—until the servant stood before her, looking down at her arrogantly.

“Young lady, my master says the wind below is strong and the crowd is rough. He cannot bear to see you suffer, so he has prepared fine wine and delicacies on the third deck. He invites you to come up and share a drink—he wishes to make your acquaintance.”

As he spoke, the servant glanced up toward Gu Chengwen.

Tang Wan looked at the servant suspiciously, then followed his gaze upward.

Seeing this, Gu Chengwen revealed what he thought was a charming and elegant smile.

“…Where did this idiot come from?”

Tang Wan quickly withdrew her gaze and pointed at her handsome husband beside her. “Are you blind?”

The servant frowned. “What do you mean?”

“Can’t you see my married hairstyle? Can’t you see my husband sitting right here?” Tang Wan continued, ignoring the servant’s darkening face. “My husband is right here, and you’re asking me to go meet some random man? Can’t you act like a decent human being?”

Ling Yu smiled faintly at this moment. “If he’s not human, how can he act like one?”

“Good point.” Tang Wan nodded, then said to the servant, “Go back to wherever you came from. If your master is in heat, tell him to find a female cat—don’t come barking at a taken woman!”
