Everyone who rushed over was completely dumbfounded by the scene in front of them. Adding to that, there seemed to be an invisible aura of murderous intent around Tang Wan, and for a moment, no one dared to rush forward to save Old Madam Liu.
As they watched Old Madam Liu’s struggles grow weaker and weaker, a chill crept into everyone’s hearts.
Just as they thought Tang Wan was really going to kill her, Tang Wan yanked her head up by the hair, pulling it out of the water.
Old Madam Liu immediately gasped for air in huge gulps, but before she could take more than two breaths, her head was shoved back under the water by Tang Wan.
The air was instantly cut off, and Old Madam Liu began to thrash again.
Countless streams of water rushed into her mouth, her nose, her ears, replacing the air.
Her consciousness began to drift away.
She was going to die. She really was going to die!
At that moment, Old Madam Liu was terrified—truly terrified.
If she could, she would have begged for mercy.
But Tang Wan wasn’t giving her the chance!
Just when Old Madam Liu thought she was going to die, a sharp pain shot across her scalp as Tang Wan yanked her head up again.
Old Madam Liu sucked in a huge breath of fresh air, barely managing to see Tang Wan’s icy, emotionless eyes. Before she could say a word, she was shoved back into the water.
She started thrashing again, until she felt she was on the brink of death, and Tang Wan yanked her up once more—only to push her back down before she could finish one breath.
Old Madam Liu cried. She really cried.
She regretted everything. She shouldn’t have come to cause trouble!
Tang Wan didn’t care whether she was an elder or not—she wanted to kill her!
This time, Tang Wan didn’t pull her up again. She was going to die.
Just when Old Madam Liu was drowning in despair, the village head arrived in a rush, followed closely by the entire Old Ling family. Even the reclusive Old Man Ling had come, along with Madam Qian and Ling Sheng.
When they saw Old Madam Liu limp and motionless under Tang Wan’s hand like a dead pig being held underwater, they all shivered in unison, momentarily forgetting to react.
The village head was the first to snap back to his senses. “Yu Langjun’s wife, stop at once!”
Tang Wan glanced at him coldly. That one look sent an inexplicable chill down the village head’s spine.
But he was the village head. If someone died in the village, he would be held responsible too.
Bracing himself, he continued, “Are you trying to kill her?”
Tang Wan gave a light snort and yanked Old Madam Liu out of the water by her hair.
By now, Old Madam Liu had already fainted.
But to the onlookers, it looked like she was dead.
The villagers collectively gasped in horror.
Old Man Ling finally came to his senses, his face burning with rage. Trembling, he pointed at Tang Wan, both terrified and furious. “You… you actually killed her? And it’s your own grandmother!”
Tang Wan gave him a cold sideways glance, then raised her chubby little hand and slapped Old Madam Liu hard, knocking her onto the ground.
The pain jolted Old Madam Liu awake, and as soon as she saw Tang Wan standing in front of her, she let out a shrill scream and scrambled on all fours to hide behind Old Man Ling, her eyes filled with terror.
Old Man Ling was about to explode with anger. “You dare hit her again?”
“Didn’t you say she was dead? I was helping you save her,” Tang Wan shamelessly twisted the facts.
Old Man Ling nearly coughed up blood. To keep himself from dying of rage, he turned to the village head. “Old Zhao, I can’t handle this unfilial thing who tried to kill her own grandmother. You’re the village head, you decide what to do!”
The village head felt his head pounding. It wasn’t like he hadn’t heard how fierce Tang Wan was.
This was the woman who had killed an earth dragon! How could his scrawny frame compare to that?
And besides, her victim was her elder, and she didn’t even care. Would she care about giving face to him, the village head?
