Before long, many villagers were injured.
Tang Wan couldn’t stand by any longer. Just as the tiger knocked Big Shen to the ground and Shen let out a shrill scream, Tang Wan rushed forward.
Before the tiger could react, she flipped herself onto its back.
With one hand gripping its fur and the other clenched into a fist, she hammered blows down onto its head.
The tiger roared and struggled violently, trying to throw her off.
Tang Wan stayed as steady as a mountain, striking the same spot again and again.
Gradually, blood seeped through the fur, and the tiger’s struggles grew weaker.
At last, Tang Wan gathered her strength and delivered a final, brutal punch.
Crack!
The villagers clearly heard the sound of bone breaking.
With a heavy thud, the tiger’s foreleg bones fractured, its head slammed into the ground and sank into the dirt — and it finally stopped moving.
Pain shot through Tang Wan’s arm. Unable to steady herself, she pitched forward with the momentum, rolled over the tiger’s head, and fell flat on her face in the dirt.
Tang Wan: !!
Ow, ow, ow…
That last strike had been too forceful — she’d likely strained a muscle.
She could unleash strength and speed ten times greater than an ordinary person, but she’d forgotten that this body was still only human.
Even with the mustard-seed space nourishing her, it couldn’t withstand that level of force.
Tang Wan stayed silent for a few seconds, then slowly lifted her head — her expressionless little face covered in mud.
The villagers all stepped back in unison, looking at her as if they’d seen a ghost, not daring to breathe loudly.
Tang Wan struggled and reached out a hand.
To the villagers, it looked like the Black and White Underworld Wardens coming to claim souls — they all retreated another synchronized step.
Ling Sheng included.
Tang Wan: “…Ling Sheng, why are you hiding? Help me up — I’m hurt.”
“Huh? Oh!” Ling Sheng finally snapped out of it and hurried forward, carefully helping her up.
“Where are you hurt? Is it serious?”
“Used too much force — muscle strain. Nothing major,” Tang Wan said, wiping her face with her uninjured hand.
Ling Sheng: …
Just how much force did you use exactly?
“Wan-niang, come wash your face inside. You few — hurry and fetch Doctor Zhang to check on Little Shen!” Aunt Liu finally recovered and began directing people to help.
The named villagers quickly moved.
Supported by Ling Sheng, Tang Wan went to the headman’s house to wash up.
Little Shen was already unconscious — no one could tell whether she was dead or alive.
Her mother cried uncontrollably, afraid to even touch her.
Big Shen and his son had red, tearful eyes.
Other villagers gathered around the dead tiger, marveling.
“No wonder she could fight that earth-dragon — look at this tiger, its skull is crushed. How much strength does that take?”
“Exactly — I heard that crack clearly. Good heavens, that was terrifying!”
“Hey — what are you doing?”
“Cutting some meat. We helped fight it too — everyone present gets a share.”
“Heh… don’t you feel ashamed saying that? Aren’t you afraid Wan-niang will slap you to death?”
“We’re not touching it. She killed it — if you’ve got a death wish, go ahead and try.”
…
All kinds of talk — including some trying to take advantage.
But when they thought of Tang Wan’s terrifying strength, they immediately stopped.
They weren’t tigers or earth-dragons — they couldn’t survive one of her punches.
Soon, the villagers who had gone to fetch Doctor Zhang returned with him.
Tang Wan, after washing her face, walked straight back out.
Ling Sheng frowned and followed her. “Wan-niang, aren’t you injured? Where are you going?”
“Something to take care of,” Tang Wan replied without elaborating.
When she’d been fighting the tiger just now, its roar had automatically translated in her mind into human words:
“You two-legged beasts are all helpers of the wolf-cubs — I’m going to eat you.”
