As soon as Old Master Zeng and Old Master Fang heard that a clinic was willing to hire them, they agreed without hesitation.
After securing the staff, Doctor Li got busy with the clinic’s reinforcement work.
He hired professionals to strengthen all parts of Jishi Hall.
Since Jishi Hall’s predecessor, Jimin Clinic, already had everything in place, reinforcing the structure didn’t take long at all.
On the sixth day, Jishi Hall officially reopened.
Tang Wan arrived at the clinic early that morning, but didn’t go out front. Instead, she met the two doctors in the rear courtyard.
When Old Fang and Old Zeng saw that the owner was such a young girl, they felt like they’d seen a ghost. Their first thought was that she must be some rich young lady with too much free time, opening a clinic for fun.
But Doctor Li’s respectful attitude toward Tang Wan surprised them greatly.
Tang Wan couldn’t be bothered to prove anything to them. She only said one sentence: “Be honest and upright—that’s my only requirement of you. You can choose your own apprentices, two each. Handle it yourselves.”
Old Fang and Old Zeng: …
That’s it?
Nothing more?
“I have other matters to attend to. Doctor Li, I’ll leave things to you.” Tang Wan glanced at the sky, already planning to slip away.
Tomorrow was the estate outing. Yue’er said she was preparing a big feast—supplies should already be arriving by now, so she wanted to go check.
Doctor Li nodded. “Don’t worry, leave the rest to us. Go take care of your business. If we run into a difficult case we can’t handle, I’ll come find you!”
“Mm!” Tang Wan nodded—and slipped away.
After she left, Old Zeng shook his head speechlessly. “This is a first for me—seeing a shop open without the owner present.”
Old Fang added gloomily, “Which family’s wife is this? Running a clinic like it’s a game. Her husband’s family just lets her mess around like this?”
Doctor Li chuckled. “You two shouldn’t underestimate her. Her medical skills are even better than mine.”
Old Fang and Old Zeng rolled their eyes. Yeah, right…
Who would believe that?
She might be wearing a married woman’s hairstyle, but she was clearly very young—what kind of medical skill could she possibly have?
Doctor Li clicked his tongue. “You two are just like before—always judging by appearances. That burn patient from the Su family—you both examined her, right? She’s the one who cured her!”
“What?” Old Zeng and Old Fang were shocked.
“That was a severe burn—how could it be cured?”
“Old Li, stop fooling me. I saw that patient too—there’s no way she could’ve been saved. Who in this world can regrow flesh and skin?”
Doctor Li laughed. “If you don’t believe it, go ask around. I saw it with my own eyes. When she treated that lady, she performed what she called a… oh right, a skin graft surgery. I assisted her the whole time. Our boss is truly formidable!”
Surgery?
That young woman knows how to perform surgery?
Isn’t that something only military doctors can do?
Old Zeng and Old Fang exchanged a look, then quickly grabbed Doctor Li and insisted he explain what a skin graft surgery was.
Doctor Li was helpless under their pestering. “Alright, alright—let’s open for business first. I’ll explain it all to you after we’re done. You have no idea—it was practically miraculous.”
Tang Wan knew nothing about this. After checking on the estate, she went back home.
Madam Jiang and Ling Chen had already returned, and Madam Qian was busy in the kitchen.
Ling Sheng was helping carry water.
Before long, dinner was ready.
But Ling Yu had not returned yet.
Madam Jiang assumed he was busy with official duties at the yamen, so she told everyone to eat first and kept his meal warm for him.
