Doctor Li said, “We’re not planning any renovations—just hiring a few more people and changing the signboard will be enough.”
Ling Yu suggested, “I think it’s better to reinforce the clinic building as well.”
Doctor Li was taken aback.
Tang Wan was also surprised. “Husband, why reinforce it?”
Keeping a straight face, Ling Yu smoothly improvised, “Jimin Clinic has been open for many years. Many parts of the structure have already aged. Since we’re making changes this time, we might as well reinforce it too, so we won’t have to start construction again later.”
Tang Wan thought about it. That actually made sense.
Doctor Li nodded in agreement. “Young Master Yu is truly far-sighted. Jimin Clinic has been around since my father’s generation. Just as you said, many parts of the building are indeed worn. It’s better to reinforce it now.”
Tang Wan made the final call. “Then we’ll reinforce it. Doctor Li, I’ll trouble you with it.”
“No problem, no problem!” After all, it’s your money being spent—I have no objections at all.
And so the matter was settled.
After dinner, Doctor Li hurried off.
That night, after Tang Wan bathed and returned to her room, Ling Yu said to her as they lay down, “Seven days from now is A-Chen’s birthday. Last time you made a birthday cake for Yue’er—what are you planning to make for him this time?”
Tang Wan frowned slightly.
Ling Chen’s birthday?
But she remembered it being next month.
Thinking this, she asked directly.
Ling Yu replied calmly, “You remembered wrong.”
“…Is that so?” Tang Wan looked at him suspiciously and probed, “Then how does husband want me to celebrate for A-Chen?”
Ling Yu thought for a moment before saying, “Now that we have the estate, why not invite everyone there for a day of leisure on that date? We can celebrate A-Chen’s birthday and let friends and relatives relax as well.”
“Alright,” Tang Wan agreed.
Ling Yu nodded in satisfaction. “Then it’s settled. Tomorrow go inform your father-in-law’s side and have them keep the day free.”
“Okay.”
“It’s late. Sleep now.”
Ling Yu tucked the blanket around her and pulled her into his arms.
Tang Wan nestled obediently, but her eyes were full of suspicion.
She was sure she hadn’t remembered wrong—Ling Chen’s birthday was next month. So why would her husband say otherwise?
Still, her husband wouldn’t harm the family. If he arranged it this way, he must have his reasons.
With that thought, Tang Wan let it go.
It wasn’t that she was careless—she simply had no intention of prying into Ling Yu’s secrets.
Just like herself—she had no plans to reveal everything about herself to her handsome husband, at least not now.
As for the future… Tang Wan felt she probably wouldn’t then either.
Another day passed. Tang Wan went to find her bargain father and invited him to visit her estate seven days later for some fun.
Tang Hongba found it quite novel.
He had never visited his daughter’s estate before, so going to see it sounded good. He agreed immediately.
After leaving the docks, Tang Wan went to the estate as well and told Ling Yue that acquaintances would be invited there in seven days.
As for the reason, Tang Wan didn’t use Ling Chen’s birthday as an excuse like Ling Yu had.
Fortunately, Ling Yue didn’t ask much. She only said, “Perfect. I won’t go back these next few days. I’ll keep an eye on the bean sprouts, and when the day comes, I’ll cook and really show everyone my skills.”
“…As long as you’re happy.”
Tang Wan checked on the bean sprouts, then left the estate.
Doctor Li also moved quickly. The very next day he found attending physicians—two of his old friends about his age, one surnamed Zeng and the other surnamed Fang.
