In the second year after their marriage, Chu Xiuye wanted to pursue his goddess, but was pressed by Chu Jinhan to stay in the company and work.
The reason was very straightforward: if he couldn’t become the chairman, how could the girl marry him?
Chu Xiuye found it quite reasonable, so for the sake of the person he loved, he became even more diligent.
It was clear that Chu Jinhan really wanted to retire.
So over this past year and more, he had been very busy.
Song Yunfei, on the other hand, only stayed busy for half a year. In the end, she realized that lying flat was still the best option.
When she got bored, she could go to work; when work became annoying, she could go back home and lie down.
Indeed, the life of the wealthy was just this plain and unremarkable.
Since Xiao Xian’s best friend had gone abroad, she often came to spend time with Song Yunfei.
It wasn’t that she had no other friends, but she always felt she had little in common with them. With Song Yunfei, however, they got along very well.
The difference between Song Yunfei and Shen Younan was that Shen Younan would quietly listen to her chatter, tolerate her little temper, and help her come up with ideas when problems arose.
But Song Yunfei could chatter right along with her. Sometimes, if they got too excited, they might even argue or fight. When faced with problems, the two of them would ponder all day—then come up with some rather questionable ideas.
Xiao Xian gave her a massage device and told her that if she massaged herself while singing, it would sound very good. She said this was a strange “secret technique” she had seen online.
For Song Yunfei, whose singing was notoriously bad, she eagerly set it up to try.
She closed the door, lay on the massage device, and prepared to improvise a song.
After clearing her throat and singing a couple of lines, she realized the device actually did something.
Suddenly, Chu Jinhan called her.
She answered the call, but just as she opened her mouth, the massage device pressed into her trapezius muscle, causing her to let out a strange sound from the pain.
Chu Jinhan froze. “What are you doing?”
“Uh… I’m massaging… ah.”
“….”
“Where are you massaging?”
“At home.”
Chu Jinhan then hung up the phone again.
Song Yunfei looked at the disconnected call, feeling puzzled. Why did he hang up so suddenly?
Too lazy to think further, she continued singing.
She really wanted to learn how to sing well. Previously, when she went with Chu Jinhan to meet his friends, each of them sang like heavenly voices.
Chu Jinhan, pretending to be aloof, didn’t sing—because he also sang terribly.
She was the only one who completely cracked, which embarrassed her greatly.
She vowed that next time, she would absolutely amaze everyone!
Not long after, Chu Jinhan hurried back.
He asked the housekeeper, “Is Song Yunfei at home?”
The housekeeper nodded. “She’s upstairs.”
Chu Jinhan slightly nodded and quickly walked upstairs.
He pushed open the door, and a very “magical” voice drifted out.
“Lifting my gaze, I ask the celestial palace in the heavens~ I wonder in which year we will reunite, my heart flies back like an arrow—”
Out of the corner of her eye, Song Yunfei suddenly noticed a figure at the door. Her mind went blank, and she was so startled that she sprang up from the bed like a carp.
In her panic, she rolled straight off the bed onto the floor.
Chu Jinhan was startled and quickly stepped inside to help her up.
Song Yunfei pushed him away angrily, grinding her teeth. “You ambushed me again!!”
Chu Jinhan said nothing, his gaze shifting to the massage device on the bed, still buzzing.
Realizing this, Song Yunfei’s face instantly turned red, and she hurriedly turned off the device.
Chu Jinhan said, “It sounded very nice.”
Song Yunfei blinked, suddenly feeling less embarrassed. “Really?”
“Really.”
When she sang herself, it did sound pretty good to her.
So she stopped blaming Chu Jinhan for the sudden “attack.”
She had also recorded it herself. With confidence, she picked up her phone and was about to play it back, but Chu Jinhan held her hand down.
“I suggest you don’t listen to it.”
Song Yunfei glanced at him suspiciously, then decisively pressed play.
After hearing her own singing, she finally understood why she had the illusion that it sounded good.
It was like singing into a fan as a child—her brain had tricked her. In reality, it was even worse.
She almost felt like there was someone having a seizure in her phone.
Song Yunfei’s face flushed red again. “This is what you called ‘sounds good’?”
Chu Jinhan replied solemnly, “I think it sounds good.”
Song Yunfei laughed in anger.
She glared at him. “Why did you come back?”
A flicker of unnaturalness flashed across Chu Jinhan’s face, but it disappeared in an instant. He pulled her into his arms.
“I missed you.”
Song Yunfei didn’t believe a word of his nonsense and pushed him away.
“Liar.”
“Wife, I’m not lying to you.” He stepped forward, cupped her face, and leaned in to kiss her.
Song Yunfei raised her hand to hold his chin. “Wait, I have something good for you.”
“What is it?”
She pushed him onto the sofa and told him to wait, then ran out.
Not long after, she ran back in with two pieces of cake in her hands.
She handed them to Chu Jinhan. “These are especially delicious. Try them.”
Chu Jinhan noticed the mischief in her eyes and glanced at the white cake in her hand, becoming slightly wary. “You’re not trying to silence me, are you?”
Song Yunfei shot him an exasperated glare. “I saved this just for you to eat, and you still suspect me!”
As she spoke, she unwrapped it and took a bite herself.
“See? I’m perfectly fine. Hurry up and take a bite.” She held the white cake up to his mouth.
Chu Jinhan leaned back slightly, but under her enthusiastic insistence, he reluctantly took a bite.
“Bite bigger. You have to eat it in big bites!”
Chu Jinhan paused, then took another large bite.
Song Yunfei tried hard to suppress her laughter and nodded in satisfaction. “Yes, yes, just like that. Go on, chew.”
Chu Jinhan looked at her with suspicion, chewed twice, and then froze.
His chewing stopped, and his handsome face showed a hint of blankness.
“HAHAHAHA!” Song Yunfei couldn’t hold it in any longer. She burst into triumphant laughter, even crouching down from laughing so hard.
“Is it good? Hahaha…”
Chu Jinhan moved his lips, making another strange sound in his mouth, and once again showed a shocked expression.
“What is this?”
Still laughing, Song Yunfei explained, “This is called ‘dual-flash cake.’ When you eat it, your mouth will go ‘da-da-da’ like flashing. Fun, right?”
She had been tricked by Xiao Xian before, and now that Chu Jinhan had fallen for it too, she finally felt balanced again.
Chu Jinhan made a motion as if to spit it into the trash.
Song Yunfei jumped up from the floor and threatened him, “Don’t spit it out. If you do, you won’t be allowed into the house tonight.”
“…”
Chu Jinhan paused, looked up at her, seemingly weighing: the “da-da-da” sensation or sleeping in the guest room tonight.
After a brief silence, he picked up a glass of water from the table and swallowed it down with water.
Seeing his move, the smile on Song Yunfei’s face gradually disappeared.
She had miscalculated again!
Chu Jinhan put down the glass, calmly wiped the corner of his mouth, then stood up from the sofa.
Seeing the situation turn bad, Song Yunfei turned to run—but the next second, she was grabbed from behind around the waist and lifted off the ground.
Her world spun, and in the next moment, she fell onto the bed together with him.
“What… what are you doing in broad daylight?”
The man pinned her beneath him. After a brief pause, he nodded slightly. “Doing it.”
Song Yunfei froze for several seconds before reacting—her face instantly flushed red.
“You—”
Before she could get angry, he had already kissed her.
Teasing him really came with a price.
He pried open her lips and went in deeply, the lingering sweetness of the cake still between their mouths.
He took off his suit jacket and casually threw it onto the floor.
Then he reached under the pillow to feel for something. Song Yunfei noticed and suddenly asked, “Mom keeps urging us to have a child. Don’t you want to think about it?”
Chu Jinhan pulled out a pink package and placed it in her hand.
“We’re still young, no rush. Help me open it.”
Song Yunfei twitched her lips, then turned slightly to tear open the packaging in her hand.
Meanwhile, Chu Jinhan was busy with his own “task,” leaving her to struggle for quite a while without managing to open it.
——
No one knew how much time had passed before Song Yunfei lay exhausted in his arms.
Chu Jinhan brushed the hair near her ear and asked softly, “I haven’t had much time to keep you company. Are you bored?”
Song Yunfei chuckled. “Not really, I’m still—”
Halfway through, she noticed his dissatisfied expression and quickly changed her tone. “Well… a little bored. You should spend more time with me when you can.”
Only then did Chu Jinhan’s expression return to normal. “Then after I finish being busy this month, shall we go on a trip?”
Song Yunfei perked up. “Where to?”
“Anywhere you want to go—we’ll visit them all.”
Song Yunfei was surprised. “That’s quite a lot. Won’t you need to handle the company?”
“Chu Xiuye can handle most of it now. It won’t be a problem to leave it to him. Besides, there are other people in the company.”
Song Yunfei thought for a moment, then smiled at him. “Alright, then I’ll make a list later.”
“Mm.”
