“Go to sleep.” Chu Jinhan turned off the light beside him and naturally got into bed.

Song Yunfei lay back down absentmindedly.

However, not long after, Quanquan ran under the bed and began whimpering. Gradually, it started barking.

“What is it barking for?” Song Yunfei quickly nudged the man beside her. If it kept barking, it would disturb the neighbors.

Chu Jinhan got up and turned on the bedside lamp.

Song Yunfei also poked her head out to look, and only then did she see the little one pawing at the bed, trying to jump up.

Unfortunately, it was too small to climb up, and it was circling anxiously.

Once the light came on, it stopped barking and wagged its tail, looking at the two of them pitifully.

Song Yunfei couldn’t resist its pitiful gaze, so she picked it up and looked at Chu Jinhan. “It’s already had a bath, let it sleep on the bed.”

Chu Jinhan glanced at the little yellow dog, then at Song Yunfei’s expectant expression.

He didn’t say anything—just turned off the light, which was taken as silent approval.

Song Yunfei smiled, patted Quanquan’s head, and casually placed it between them before lying down to sleep.

The little one was too small and felt afraid being alone in the dark, which was why it wanted to get onto the bed.

Once on the bed, it no longer barked, obediently curling up beside Song Yunfei.

Song Yunfei was also afraid of accidentally squashing it, so she moved all the way to the innermost side, leaving a large empty space in the middle.

With the little one in between them, there was no need to worry about the two of them accidentally hugging each other again in their sleep. It killed two birds with one stone.

Perhaps she was simply too tired—after closing her eyes, Song Yunfei quickly drifted into sleep.

Not long after, Chu Jinhan reached out, picked up the sleeping puppy, and placed it on the floor.

To prevent it from barking again, he also tossed a piece of clothing onto the ground.

Sensing the familiar scent on the clothes, Quanquan opened its eyes in confusion for a moment, then curled up on the clothing and went back to sleep.

The next morning, when Song Yunfei woke up in someone’s arms, she suddenly widened her eyes.

She immediately sat up and looked around the bed. “Where’s the dog?!”

Chu Jinhan opened his eyes, sat up unhurriedly, and tilted his head toward the edge of the bed. “Isn’t that it?”

Song Yunfei looked over and indeed saw Quanquan gripping the edge of the bed, wagging its tail at her.

She let out a long sigh of relief, almost thinking she had crushed the dog in her sleep.

“How did it get down there?”

Chu Jinhan replied calmly and without changing his expression, “Maybe it was hungry and jumped down on its own.”

“Oh.” Song Yunfei didn’t think much of it and turned her head to glance at the man beside her… at his abs.

They were clearer in the daytime.

But after just a couple of looks, he stopped her from looking further—he got up and left the bed, leaving her with only his broad back.

Chu Jinhan went to prepare breakfast, while Song Yunfei took Quanquan outside to relieve itself.

It was important to develop the habit of going outside to the bathroom; otherwise, if it stayed home all day and couldn’t hold it, it would definitely relieve itself indoors.

After a simple breakfast, as usual, Chu Jinhan gave her a ride to work.

Although the morning traffic was heavy, electric scooters didn’t get stuck in traffic, and they arrived near her workplace quickly.

Song Yunfei was chatting casually with Chu Jinhan when suddenly, a deafening horn blared from behind.

It sounded almost right against her back, startling her so much that she immediately grabbed onto Chu Jinhan.

Chu Jinhan nearly lost control of the throttle as well—the electric scooter almost crashed into the guardrail, but fortunately, he reacted quickly and steadied it.

The scooter slowly pulled over to the side, and both of them turned back to look.

Song Yunfei’s heart was still pounding hard. She had truly been scared out of her wits just now.

Looking over, she realized it was a familiar Bentley.

The Bentley also came to a stop. The window slowly rolled down, and Li Shan poked her head out from inside, smiling in a sarcastic, mocking tone. “Sales star Song, good morning. Riding an electric scooter to work? Sorry about just now—I didn’t see you. Didn’t scare you, did I?”

Still shaken, Song Yunfei’s anger flared instantly upon seeing Li Shan’s provocative face. She immediately got off the electric scooter.

Chu Jinhan frowned and also got off.

If they had lost control just now and crashed into the guardrail or another vehicle, both of them could have been seriously injured—even if they survived.

These people were practically trying to commit murder!

She walked up to the car window and glared at Li Shan angrily. “Are you insane? Cutting people off on purpose—trying to kill someone on the road?”

Hearing her words, Li Shan dropped the act as well. Her face darkened as she snorted coldly. “Call the police then. We were driving normally. Who knows if you’re the ones trying to stage an accident for compensation riding that junk scooter?”

As she said this, Chu Jinhan had already taken out his phone and started taking photos of the vehicle.

Seeing this, Li Shan quickly got out of the car and tried to grab Chu Jinhan’s phone. “What are you taking pictures for! Do you know you’re violating portrait rights? Delete it!”

Song Yunfei stepped in to block Li Shan, glaring at her fiercely. “Didn’t you just tell us to call the police? Why are you scared now?”

“What do I have to be afraid of! I think you two are the ones trying to stage a scam—get out of my way!”

Li Shan pushed at her anxiously. What had just happened was indeed intentional on their part. If the police got involved, it could very well be classified as dangerous driving.

Although her boyfriend might be fine, she was afraid of causing him trouble—and of being dumped because of it.

The two women pushed and shoved each other, almost coming to blows.

Their actions caused passing vehicles to slow down, swerve aside, and honk their horns. Some even stopped on purpose to watch the drama unfold.

At this moment, Li Shan’s “catfish-looking” boyfriend also got out of the car and approached Chu Jinhan.

With an air of superiority, he patted Chu Jinhan on the shoulder. His tone and expression were filled with contempt.

“Hey, young man, let’s not escalate this. Xiao Shan and your girlfriend are colleagues—they’ll be seeing each other often. Don’t make things unpleasant. It won’t be easy to get along in the future.”

Although his tone sounded calm, there was a clear undertone of threat in his words.

He even pulled out a business card from his pocket and handed it to Chu Jinhan as if doing him a favor. “We really didn’t notice just now—our apologies. Here’s my card. Let’s just be friends.”

Handing over the card wasn’t truly about making friends—it was meant to let the young man in front of him understand his identity and back off.

In a small place like Qingcheng, this man was considered somewhat influential—a local power figure, so to speak.

Someone like Chu Jinhan, riding a cheap electric scooter, was completely beneath his notice.

He simply didn’t want to escalate things on the main road.

Under normal circumstances, once people learned his identity, they would usually swallow their anger and let it go.

However, Chu Jinhan merely glanced at the business card and didn’t take it. He said coldly, “Take your hand away.”

The man froze for a moment, not expecting him to be so direct. Instantly, a trace of anger rose in his eyes. Not only did he not withdraw his hand, he patted Chu Jinhan’s shoulder twice more, his tone turning unfriendly.

“Young man, don’t be so aggressive. I’m giving you a way out out of goodwill. Having a temper is fine—but you also need to see whether you actually have the capital to throw it around, don’t you?”
