The two of them went to a nearby restaurant for a meal.
Song Yunfei felt that her appetite had improved—she hadn’t felt this hungry in a long time.
After discussing it, they decided to return the day after tomorrow and spend these two days wandering around.
That evening, Chu Jinhan—the cunning and scheming man—deliberately had her send him to the hotel.
After she escorted him to the hotel entrance, Song Yunfei only belatedly realized something was off.
“Shouldn’t you have been the one to send me back? How did it end up being me sending you?”
Chu Jinhan didn’t say anything. He silently took out his key card to open the door, then pulled her inside with a swift motion.
As soon as the door closed, he wrapped her tightly in his arms.
He looked especially impatient. Without saying a word, he lowered his head and kissed her right at the doorway.
Song Yunfei immediately sensed something was wrong, but by then it was too late to run.
After he kissed her until she was dizzy, he finally spoke in a hoarse voice, “Because I want to be alone with you.”
Before Song Yunfei could respond, he leaned down and kissed her again.
As expected, once they entered the room, he completely dropped his composure—there was none of the restraint he showed outside.
As they continued kissing, his coat fell to the ground, and he carried her over to the bed.
Kiss after kiss, the clothes on her body were gradually removed piece by piece.
The overhead light made Song Yunfei squint; she couldn’t keep her eyes open. She gently pushed the man above her. “Turn off the lights.”
Chu Jinhan lowered his head and kissed her lips, his voice hoarse yet sincere. “Can we leave it on? When I look at you, I feel like you truly belong to me—that’s when I feel secure.”
…
He felt secure—but she didn’t!
Song Yunfei realized that Chu Jinhan’s emotional intelligence seemed to have leveled up.
When he spoke sweet words, he had a whole set of lines ready, and on top of that, he wore that pitiful expression—who could resist that?
What else could she say?
“Did you bring protection?”
Chu Jinhan looked at her intently and asked in return, “Didn’t you say you wanted to have children with me? Were you lying to me?”
“… ”
“You still don’t plan to marry me?”
Song Yunfei instantly surrendered. “…I was just asking casually. If you didn’t bring any, then forget it.”
…
“Then are you willing to marry me?”
Song Yunfei twitched the corner of her mouth, both exasperated and amused. “Are you proposing in bed?”
Chu Jinhan looked at her seriously. “I’m just asking you.”
Looking into his deep, dark eyes, Song Yunfei’s heart stirred. She softly replied, “I’m willing.”
“Then call me ‘husband’ first.”
Song Yunfei’s face flushed red, a little flustered. “Do you have to rush it like this?”
“If you don’t call me that, how do I know you’re not lying to me?”
…
In the end, she did call him—how she was persuaded to do so is another matter.
It only made Chu Jinhan more excited. Later, when he went into the bathroom to shower, he kept calling her for another half hour.
Dinner was basically wasted.
Song Yunfei lay limply in his arms, too exhausted to even lift her eyelids.
Not long after, her phone rang.
It was in her clothes pocket, but her clothes had fallen to the floor, and she didn’t have the strength to get up.
She nudged the man beside her. “Go get my phone for me.”
Chu Jinhan got up, put on a robe, walked to the door, picked up her outerwear, and tidied up all the clothes scattered on the floor.
He took her phone from the pocket. The caller ID clearly showed Bai Yu.
He glanced at Song Yunfei on the bed, then pressed the answer button and turned on speaker.
“Hey, you little Yang Cuihua, you’ve learned to stay out all night now, huh?! What time is it and you still aren’t back? Where have you been fooling around?!”
Song Yunfei suddenly opened her eyes.
At the same time, the man standing by the bed had a dark expression, staring at the phone screen. His demeanor made it seem like he was about to drag the person on the other end out and give them a beating.
She scrambled to sit up and quickly snatched the phone from Chu Jinhan’s hand. Speaking urgently into the receiver, she said, “Why are you sticking your nose into everything?! Don’t bother me.”
“Hey, you—”
Before Bai Yu could finish, Song Yunfei decisively hung up and nervously glanced at Chu Jinhan.
Chu Jinhan didn’t say anything. He returned to the bed and sat down again, his calmness making her feel uneasy instead.
Song Yunfei quickly wrapped her arm around his and forced a small, awkward smile. “Actually, there’s nothing between Bai Yu and me. He’s a pretty good person—just a bit talkative.”
Chu Jinhan tilted his head to look at her and asked casually, “How good is he?”
Forcing herself to answer, Song Yunfei held her thumb and index finger a small distance apart and said softly, “…About, one-tenth as good as you.”
Chu Jinhan’s gaze fell on her moist, glistening eyes, her still-faint blush, and the marks on her collarbone and neck.
He raised his hand and gently brushed the marks on her neck with his fingertips.
“One-tenth… is it enough to reach the level of kissing?”
Song Yunfei’s mouth twitched, and she quickly denied it. “Of course not! We’re not that kind of relationship.”
The sensation of his fingertips tracing her skin made her scalp tingle, and she subconsciously tried to push him away.
But the man was faster—he caught her reaching hand.
His other hand slid slowly down along her smooth back, stopping at her slender waist, pulling her firmly into his embrace.
His lips hovered near her ear, his hot breath brushing against her earlobe. “Everything in my heart is filled with you. So, for fairness’ sake, you’re not allowed to have anyone else in yours—even one-tenth is not allowed.”
His breath felt like tiny currents of electricity coursing through her entire body, making Song Yunfei’s breathing unstable again.
“…Alright, I get it. I’ll pay attention to boundaries, okay?”
“No need to ‘pay attention’ to boundaries.” He lowered his head and lightly kissed her cheek. “Just stay away from him.”
“…Isn’t that the same thing?”
Song Yunfei felt like he was about to start again. She quickly turned her head away and placed a hand under his chin, stopping him from moving any further.
She looked at him seriously. “It’s not what you think. The reason he treats me well is because I resemble his younger sister. Did you know that?”
“I’m not interested in him.” Chu Jinhan took her hand and lowered it, then suddenly asked, “Did he tell you that?”
“Uh… someone else told me.”
Song Yunfei definitely wouldn’t admit that Bai Yu himself had told her.
After all, when such things come from the person involved, it can feel like self-narration, and people tend to doubt its credibility.
Chu Jinhan thoughtfully rubbed her fingers, as if considering something.
After a while, he slowly said, “It seems that there is such a matter.”
Song Yunfei looked at him suspiciously. “Didn’t you say you weren’t interested?”
Chu Jinhan replied calmly, “It was in his investigation file.”
“… ”
Song Yunfei quietly inhaled. She hadn’t expected him to have even gone so far as to investigate Bai Yu.
“You say that… and it actually checks out.”
“Checks out what?”
“He doesn’t love you.”
Song Yunfei was a little surprised. “How can you tell?”
“Because I love you.”
Song Yunfei was rendered speechless by that one sentence.
Where was the cold, distant man she knew? Where had his quiet, reserved self gone?
Now, he was throwing out sweet words like they cost nothing, popping one out every now and then—and she was completely unaccustomed to it.
Chu Jinhan continued, “So I know what love should look like.”
Song Yunfei’s heart stirred slightly. Her nose tingled, and she buried her face into the warm hollow of his neck, feeling his heartbeat and the rise and fall of his chest.
After a long while, she couldn’t help but speak again. “Chu Jinhan, if I tell you something else… will you believe me?”
Chu Jinhan’s breathing paused slightly.
He didn’t answer immediately. After a moment of internal struggle, he softly replied, “I believe you.”
“I haven’t even said it yet!”
“Whatever you say, I’ll believe.”
Song Yunfei almost laughed in frustration. She glared at him, a bit annoyed. “I’m being serious!”
Chu Jinhan tightened his arms, holding her even closer, and gently rubbed his nose against her cheek.
“Go ahead. I’m listening.”
Song Yunfei turned her head away from his affectionate gestures. After mentally preparing herself for a long time, she finally spoke slowly, her voice carrying a hint of nervousness:
“Actually… I really am someone who traveled through time.”
