“Could it be… there’s something you haven’t told me?”
“You were the one who just said it wasn’t important.”
Song Yunfei fell silent for a moment. Everything that happened last night was still vivid in her mind. The joy of losing and regaining him had temporarily overridden her curiosity.
She withdrew her gaze and rested her head back against his chest. “Of course… your safety matters most.”
Chu Jinhan did not continue the topic.
“Go take a hot shower first. Your body’s very cold—be careful not to catch a cold.”
“But I don’t want to move.”
“I’ll help you.”
“……”
Song Yunfei’s cheeks grew slightly warm. Normally, she would have refused hearing something like that.
But this time, his tone was very serious, and she truly had no strength left. For a moment, she didn’t know whether to agree.
Before she could decide, Chu Jinhan had already made the decision for her, carrying her into the bathroom.
The bathroom light was turned on, casting a warm yellow glow over them.
He set her down on the edge of the bathtub and turned to adjust the water temperature. The sound of running water filled the room. In no time, steam began to rise, blurring the mirror and their figures.
Looking at his tall silhouette through the mist, Song Yunfei still felt a bit unreal, as if she were dreaming.
However, the clothes he was wearing… she had never seen them before.
The black coat looked high quality, and the black knit vest underneath was also unfamiliar.
“Did you buy new clothes?”
Chu Jinhan paused slightly. After a moment of silence, he said, “Someone gave them to me.”
“Oh… was it a big client from your business trip?”
“Mm.”
Song Yunfei couldn’t help but reach out and touch the fabric. “It really is from a big client—the quality feels great. But why don’t I see any brand label?”
“I’ll give you a few pieces later.”
Chu Jinhan turned around, smoothly shifting the topic. “The water’s ready.”
Song Yunfei felt a bit embarrassed. “I can do it myself.”
“If that’s the case, then undress yourself.”
She really had a way of pretending not to understand him. Song Yunfei said in annoyance, “I mean I’ll wash myself!”
“Aren’t you out of strength?” he said, already reaching out to unbutton her clothes. “After you’re done, I’ll go make breakfast.”
His tone was very composed. After hesitating for a moment, Song Yunfei gave up resisting.
It’s not like he hadn’t seen her before. She was just tired, sleepy, and hungry—she truly didn’t want to move at all.
Chu Jinhan sat on the edge of the bathtub, picked up the showerhead, adjusted the temperature, and let the warm water fall over her hair.
His fingers gently ran through her slightly tangled strands, carefully massaging and washing her hair.
He didn’t do anything unnecessary—he was genuinely helping her wash her hair and body properly. Soaking in the warm water, Song Yunfei began to feel drowsy.
The sensation from his hands gave her a sense of calm, like she had survived a great ordeal and could finally relax.
By the time she finished bathing, she was almost asleep.
Chu Jinhan wrapped her in a bath towel, carried her out of the bathroom, and placed her on the sofa before drying her hair.
He looked at her peacefully sleeping face, his gaze steady, yet carrying a hint of scrutiny and self-doubt.
If there were an outsider present, they would notice that his movements and his expression didn’t quite match.
The sound of the hair dryer stopped, and the room fell quiet.
The drowsy Song Yunfei opened her eyes and looked at his complex expression.
“Finished washing?”
“It’s dry.”
She gave a soft “oh” and sat up from the sofa, her long hair cascading down, draping over her smooth shoulders.
She rubbed her stomach. “Weren’t you going to cook?”
Chu Jinhan remained silent, his expression not looking very good.
Song Yunfei felt a bit uneasy under his gaze. “Th-then… not cooking?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Chu Jinhan suddenly stood up, said nothing, and walked straight to the kitchen. He skillfully put on an apron and began preparing a meal.
Song Yunfei looked completely puzzled and scratched her head. What was wrong with him?
Ten minutes later, two bowls of noodles were served on the table.
Song Yunfei stole a glance at him. It felt like what had just happened was only an illusion—right now, his expression was normal, no different from usual.
It must be because she was too tired and had started hallucinating.
She was truly exhausted. She hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days, and now she had gone two days and one night without sleep. Her body couldn’t take it anymore.
After quickly finishing the noodles and washing up, she returned to the bedroom.
After thinking for a moment, she walked back out, took Chu Jinhan’s hand, and said, “You haven’t slept either. Come sleep with me.”
Chu Jinhan looked at her for a moment, then followed her.
By now, the sky had just begun to brighten. With the curtains drawn, the bedroom remained dim.
Song Yunfei wrapped her arms around his waist, closed her eyes, and said, “Hurry and sleep. After you wake up, I have something very important to tell you.”
Chu Jinhan didn’t lie down. Instead, he leaned against the headboard, looking down at the woman beside him.
Before long, Song Yunfei had already fallen asleep.
However, her sleep wasn’t peaceful. She kept having nightmares—various chaotic, disturbing dreams.
At one moment it was a plane crash, at another Chu Jinhan confronting her, and at yet another she was being punished in a sewing workshop.
Less than three hours later, Song Yunfei woke up from a nightmare.
She opened her eyes, looked at the ceiling above, then glanced at Chu Jinhan lying beside her, and quietly exhaled.
Chu Jinhan had his arm around her, seemingly already asleep.
Song Yunfei didn’t disturb him and gently moved closer into his embrace. Feeling his body heat and familiar scent, she finally felt at ease.
The hand resting around her waist tightened slightly, pulling her closer.
Song Yunfei subconsciously looked up at him. His eyes were still closed, with no sign of waking.
It seemed that he wasn’t sleeping very peacefully either.
In this manner—waking up intermittently, like an infant—they both lay in bed for an entire day.
It wasn’t until six in the evening that they were fully awake.
Song Yunfei opened her eyes and met his dark gaze, only then realizing that he had been awake for who knows how long, silently watching her.
She instinctively touched the corner of her mouth—fortunately, she hadn’t drooled.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Don’t know.”
“……”
After a brief silence, Song Yunfei seemed to gather her courage and said to him, “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Biting her lip, she had gone through so much mental preparation earlier, but now that she was about to confess, her heart was racing.
Several times the words reached her lips, but she still couldn’t bring herself to say them.
“If you don’t want to say it, then don’t.”
Chu Jinhan’s words instantly eased her conflicted feelings.
She looked up at him directly, steeled her resolve, and said, “Um… actually… you… you’re a CEO.”
After saying this, Song Yunfei closed her eyes, feeling as nervous as if she were awaiting judgment.
A full minute passed, yet there was no reaction at all.
She opened one eye to sneak a glance.
Chu Jinhan’s expression remained completely unchanged. He showed no reaction, still looking at her the same way as before.
Song Yunfei opened both eyes and frowned. “You don’t believe me?”
“I believe you.”
His response left Song Yunfei momentarily speechless. “Then… don’t you have anything you want to say?”
“I want to kiss you.”
“…What?”
Before she could react, he suddenly lowered his head and kissed her lips.
