The next day, Song Yunfei was awakened by her alarm clock, her head aching as if it was about to split open.

She had no idea how strong the alcohol from last night was—it had such a lingering effect.

Rubbing her head, she sat up, when suddenly something slipped off her body.

Looking down, she realized it was a bath towel—and underneath it, she… wasn’t wearing anything.

“!!”

In an instant, all traces of sleep vanished.

From the kitchen came the sound of pots and dishes clattering. Song Yunfei stiffly raised her head and looked toward the kitchen door.

Fragmented memories began flooding back into her mind.

Drinking, coming home, and the bathroom…

She remembered now—she had taken a shower!

Vaguely, she recalled her foot slipping, then falling, and after that, everything went blank.

She rubbed the back of her head, and sure enough, there was a dull pain—she must have hit it when she fell.

So how did she end up on the bed?

Song Yunfei didn’t dare think further.

Imagining her own embarrassing state, and even the possibility that Chu Jihan might misunderstand her as intentionally getting drunk to seduce him…

She felt like hanging herself.

Maybe that would even send her back.

Song Yunfei glanced around the room and sighed.

Forget it. Even if she went back, she’d probably still be a mess. It’s better to just live on.

She quickly got out of bed, hurriedly found her clothes and put them on, then went to the bathroom to wash her face.

Looking up at the mirror, she saw herself.

Her hair stood up like swollen corn silk on her head, and combined with her mournful expression, she looked utterly terrible.

Just as her thoughts were in chaos, she heard faint movements outside.

After staying in the bathroom for a few more minutes, Song Yunfei took a deep breath and calmed herself.

Pretending she remembered nothing, she calmly walked out of the bathroom.

Chu Jihan was at the dining table arranging plates. He was wearing a simple white T-shirt, revealing his lean forearms, looking no different from usual.

Hearing the movement, he glanced at Song Yunfei.

With no particular expression on his face, he withdrew his gaze and said, “Since you’re up, come eat breakfast.”

After saying that, he turned and went back into the kitchen, as if nothing had happened.

Song Yunfei slowly made her way to the table and sat down. On it were fried eggs, bread, and two glasses of milk.

Her stomach growled. She didn’t have the energy to think about what happened last night and picked up her utensils to eat.

Chu Jihan came out of the kitchen and placed a cup of water beside her.

With a fried egg in her mouth, Song Yunfei looked at him in confusion. “What’s this?”

“Honey water.”

His calm demeanor almost made Song Yunfei think everything from last night had just been a dream.

She carefully picked up the cup and took a couple of sips, secretly glancing at his expression from the corner of her eye.

He was simply focused on eating his breakfast, his expression normal, as if she were just a slightly unfamiliar roommate.

Still, Song Yunfei couldn’t hold it in anymore. She set down the cup and asked softly, “Um… Chu Jihan, did I… do anything strange last night?”

Chu Jihan paused.

Then he put down his chopsticks, took a tissue from the table, and wiped his mouth.

After a two-second silence, he said, “Which one are you referring to?”

“!!?”

Song Yunfei’s eyes widened. “There was more than one?!”

Chu Jihan lifted his gaze, his eyes resting on her nervous face.

“Why are you so nervous?”

Song Yunfei froze. “What?”

Chu Jihan said, “Aren’t we a couple? What are you nervous about?”

That question left Song Yunfei speechless.

Yeah… what was she nervous about?

The original owner had always wanted to get close to Chu Jihan. Even if something had really happened last night, she should be happy instead.

But she wasn’t the original owner!

Song Yunfei’s lips twitched for quite a while before she forced out an ugly smile.

“Did we… really sleep together?”

Chu Jihan didn’t answer her question directly. Instead, he asked, “What do you think?”

Song Yunfei grumbled inwardly—if she knew, would she still be asking?

She hadn’t felt anything at all.

Judging from Chu Jihan’s attitude toward her, she leaned toward the idea that nothing had actually happened.

If Chu Jihan had been willing to touch her, then over the past six months, she would probably already be pregnant. Why would he wait until she got drunk?

As she pondered, Song Yunfei caught sight of his probing gaze, and her heart skipped a beat.

She put on a stern face, straightened her chest, and said, “Why are you looking at me like that! I didn’t feel anything at all—what’s wrong with asking?”

Chu Jihan silently observed her, his gaze lingering on her face.

Under his scrutiny, Song Yunfei’s confidence gradually weakened.

“You… you’re still looking…”

Before she could finish speaking, her body suddenly swayed.

Along with the chair, she was pulled toward him, and their distance was instantly reduced.

She could clearly see his distinct eyelashes, even the subtle lines on his lips.

Chu Jihan slightly lifted his eyes. His cold gaze passed through his lashes and landed on her lips.

Then, slowly, his eyes moved upward again to meet hers, carrying a dangerous aura.

“Then… do you want to experience it again?”

They were now extremely close. His warm breath brushed against Song Yunfei’s face, carrying a faint minty toothpaste scent.

Song Yunfei froze completely, her mind buzzing and going blank.

She suddenly couldn’t understand what this man meant.

He had always kept his distance before, yet today he was so proactive.

Her lips opened and closed, but she couldn’t manage to say a single word.

Before she could figure out how to respond, Chu Jihan suddenly straightened up, putting distance between them.

He withdrew that oppressive aura, and his expression returned to normal.

But his gaze still carried scrutiny. “You’ve been very unusual these past two days.”

Song Yunfei felt a tightening in her chest, though she maintained a calm facade. “What’s unusual about me?”

Chu Jihan stared at her for a while, then suddenly leaned toward her again, aiming straight for her lips.

Song Yunfei was shocked. Just as she thought he was about to kiss her, she quickly turned her head away to avoid it.

However, she soon realized something was off.

The man had only reached out his hand, passing over her to pick up the water cup on the table.

Out of the corner of her eye, Song Yunfei glanced at Chu Jihan—and when she looked up, their eyes met.

The atmosphere instantly turned awkward.

Chu Jihan’s gaze made her realize something.

His earlier probing had been a way of showing her exactly what was wrong.

And her evasive reaction was the best possible answer.

Chu Jihan handed her the water cup. “Not planning to explain?”

Song Yunfei felt as if she were being judged on a cross.

She awkwardly took the cup.

Testing the waters, she said, “If I said I’m not the original Song Yunfei, would you believe me?”

Chu Jihan’s expression didn’t change. “What do you think?”

“Maybe?”

“You mean you’re someone else now? Or another soul?”

Song Yunfei continued vaguely, “Maybe?”

Chu Jihan replied indifferently, “Then I should call a psychiatric hospital.”

Song Yunfei nearly rolled her eyes.

But more than that, she was confused. “Why though? You could just break up with me! Why send me to a psychiatric hospital?”

Chu Jihan withdrew his gaze and prepared to continue eating breakfast. “Didn’t you say we depend on each other? Naturally, I have to be responsible for you to the end.”

Song Yunfei let out a dry laugh. “Actually… that’s not necessary.”

Chu Jihan suddenly looked at her again.

This time, his eyes carried a hint of coldness. “Song Yunfei, did you cheat on me?”
