Just as Uncle Ge was truly lowering his head, preparing to suck out the poison with his mouth, Zhu Jie suddenly stopped him. No—just now, she could already feel his steady breath brushing against her skin, cool and carrying a faint chill.
“Wait!” Zhu Jie suddenly cried out. “Well… actually, it’s not necessary to use your mouth! Go find a knife, cut out the arrowhead lodged in my butt, and while you’re at it, slice the wound open a bit so the black blood can drain out!”
Ji Yi immediately jumped up in agitation. “If you have a bloodletting method, why were you insisting we use our mouths to suck it out?!” Was he embarrassed and angry?
A soft sob followed. Zhu Jie lifted her tear-filled eyes, putting on a delicate, pitiful expression. “It’ll hurt…”
Seeing her looking like a pear blossom bathed in rain, Ji Yi’s heart softened again. But the moment he glanced at that darkened backside, he shook his head helplessly. This was really difficult. He couldn’t help but sigh, “Can’t we just go for proper medical treatment?”
“No, this is the fastest way!” Zhu Jie gritted her teeth. Pointing at her rear, she said to Uncle Ge, “Do it! Give me a cut! Otherwise I won’t make it!”
Out here in the wilderness, finding herbs to detoxify her would be nearly impossible. Uncle Ge hesitated, glancing at Ji Yi—what should they do?
At that moment, Zhu Jie suddenly grabbed Uncle Ge’s hand. A scream rang out—swift, precise, and ruthless. She didn’t hesitate even when it came to hurting herself.
“Aaah!” Zhu Jie cried out in agony, her whole body breaking into sweat. At last, she collapsed weakly onto the pillow, biting her teeth shut, unable to say a word.
Uncle Ge wasted no more time and yanked the arrowhead out in one motion. Another wave of piercing pain followed.
But just then, Ji Yi let out a sharp scream, “Oh my god! Why is it split into two?!”
Zhu Jie was stunned. What? Was the cut too deep? Did her butt split open? She immediately reached back to check, but the moment she touched it, a searing pain shot through her, making her grimace.
Then Ji Yi irresponsibly added, “Oh… so it’s supposed to be two parts!”
Zhu Jie slapped him without hesitation. “Are you messing with me?! You’re just realizing today that a butt has two halves?!”
“No—I just realized today that you also have two halves. I thought someone as tough as you would be… different from others,” Ji Yi teased deliberately.
Zhu Jie smacked him again. “Cut the nonsense, I’m in pain!”
By now, black blood was already seeping out. Zhu Jie felt a chill spread through her body, shivering uncontrollably. A sense of weakness washed over her, and her consciousness began to blur.
She could hear Ji Yi chattering endlessly by her ear. Since when did he talk so much? In her hazy state, she faintly heard him exclaim anxiously, “Hey, look—there’s another hole!”
As he spoke, Ji Yi leaned down to inspect her condition. Seeing no reaction from her, he quickly took her hand and guided it back. “Try it—see if there’s an extra hole?”
But Zhu Jie weakly pulled her hand back, her voice barely a whisper. “Stop messing around… let me sleep…”
Her eyelids felt unbearably heavy, and as she spoke, they closed involuntarily. The moment Ji Yi saw this, panic set in. “Don’t sleep! Otherwise if another hole appears, no one’s going to deal with it!”
But no matter what he said, Zhu Jie gave no response. Ji Yi’s heart clenched, his voice turning frantic and anxious. “Don’t sleep! Wake up—wake up!”
As he spoke, he pulled her into his arms.
Yes—his earlier teasing had all been to keep her from falling asleep. But seeing that she still slipped into unconsciousness, panic surged within him. An empty dread filled his heart, and he even had the terrifying feeling that if she continued like this… she might never wake up again.
No—he couldn’t let her sleep. Ji Yi kept talking desperately.
“Hey, wake up! Aren’t you supposed to be strong? You can’t even endure this much?”
“Hey, if you keep sleeping like this, I won’t marry you! I won’t marry a lazy pig!”
He even resorted to threats.
But Zhu Jie still didn’t wake. Her sleep was eerily quiet, only her brows tightly furrowed in pain.
