Don’t believe her? Yeah, right!
Xichun rolled her eyes at Nianxia. She knew Nianxia didn’t want to tell the truth, so she didn’t force her. Instead, she told her not to overthink things and to talk to her if anything was bothering her—sharing would make her feel much better.
Nianxia hummed in response, then asked if Xichun really planned to get married after Miss’s first birthday.
Xichun’s face flushed slightly, and she nodded.
She had already decided to marry that man, so she wouldn’t delay any longer.
Seeing Xichun’s shy expression, Nianxia felt a faint bitterness in her heart. She pulled Xichun aside and whispered, asking if she was really sure—if she had truly chosen him.
“I’m sure. Very sure,” Xichun nodded firmly. “From the moment I realized my feelings, I chose him.”
She had hesitated and worried before, but in the end, none of that could outweigh her desire to marry him and spend her life with him.
She didn’t know whether they could walk together to the end. She didn’t know if he would ever change or if another woman might appear.
But before he changed, she would cherish him well.
If his heart never changed for a lifetime, then she would have won her bet.
Madam once said that marriage was a gamble—it all depended on whether you dared to take it.
If you were afraid of losing, then don’t gamble.
She wasn’t afraid of losing. She wanted to try.
Nianxia looked at Xichun quietly for a while, then smiled and wished her happiness.
Should she also learn from Xichun and bravely move forward?
Xichun frowned slightly, reached out, and pinched Nianxia’s cheek.
“What’s wrong? Did you quarrel with Ling Yi?” she asked. “Why do you feel so strange?”
Nianxia hesitated for a long time before stammering out her troubles.
After hearing her, Xichun tapped her forehead unhappily.
“If Madam hadn’t asked you, were you planning to keep this bottled up forever and not tell us?”
She sighed.
“This is also my fault. I didn’t notice you were so unhappy for so long. I’m sorry.”
Nianxia shook her head and gently pushed her.
“What are you talking about? How is this your fault? It’s my own problem.”
If she hadn’t been so awkward and had told Madam or Xichun earlier, things wouldn’t have become like this…
Thinking about the suffering she’d endured recently, she didn’t even know what to say about herself.
Xichun hugged her gently.
“Don’t be sad. Think it through carefully. Decide what you want to do.”
Whether to continue or separate depended on Nianxia’s choice.
If she couldn’t untie this knot in her heart, she wouldn’t be happy even if she married Ling Yi.
One day, the conflict would surely erupt.
So she had to think it over properly.
Nianxia pressed her lips together and hugged Xichun back.
“I will.”
After Madam’s guidance, she would think it through carefully.
“Silly girl,” Xichun said softly. “Go back and rest well. I’m here with Madam, so don’t worry.”
Nianxia replied with a “mm,” thanked her for her hard work, and then left.
Not long after Nianxia left, Li Qingling told Xichun to find Ling Yi and ask him to come see her after he finished his work.
She wanted to hear his thoughts.
An hour later, Ling Yi hurried over and respectfully asked Li Qingling what she needed.
Li Qingling told him to sit down, then asked how he viewed his relationship with Nianxia.
His heart tightened. Ling Yi straightened his expression.
“I want to marry Nianxia.”
Thinking of her avoidance, his eyes darkened slightly.
“Madam, did Nianxia say something to you?” Could it be that she didn’t want to marry him?
Li Qingling didn’t answer directly.
“What if Nianxia doesn’t want to marry you? What would you do?”
Ling Yi frowned.
“Did she tell you that, Madam?”
That girl really deserved a scolding.
He’d definitely find her later and talk it through.
“Answer me first,” Li Qingling said.
“I won’t give up. I will definitely marry her,” Ling Yi sighed.
“Is it because I’m not good enough? Not good enough to her? That’s why she has these worries?”
Had he proposed too often and scared her?
He just really wanted to marry her, so he wanted to settle things early.
Li Qingling looked at him helplessly.
Was Nianxia hiding her feelings too deeply, so no one had noticed?
“Do you know why Nianxia keeps refusing your proposals?” she asked.
Ling Yi shook his head honestly.
If he knew, he wouldn’t have failed so many times.
Thinking about it made him feel miserable—especially when he saw Liu Shi showing off his affection every day.
He was so jealous.
He wanted to bring his beloved home early too!
Li Qingling said sympathetically, “It’s because you’re too outstanding. Nianxia feels she isn’t good enough for you. She thinks you deserve a better girl.”
Ling Yi felt powerless.
Again with this issue?
Hadn’t it already been settled before?
Why was she thinking like this again?
“Did Nianxia tell you this herself?” he asked.
“Yes,” Li Qingling nodded. “She lacks a sense of security. Or perhaps you haven’t given her enough security, so she doesn’t dare marry you.”
Ling Yi was handsome and had decent status. Many girls admired him.
It was natural for Nianxia to feel insecure.
“I know what to do now. Thank you, Madam,” Ling Yi said sincerely.
Without her reminder, he wouldn’t have understood Nianxia’s thoughts.
“Do you need anything else, Madam?” he asked eagerly.
If not, he wanted to find Nianxia right away.
He couldn’t wait to talk things out with her.
Seeing how anxious he looked, Li Qingling smiled slightly and waved her hand.
“You may go.”
Ling Yi thanked her again and strode away.
She felt that outsiders shouldn’t interfere too much in their relationship.
If Nianxia couldn’t figure it out, she would naturally come to her.
With that in mind, Li Qingling didn’t dwell on it.
Besides, with her little one around, she had no spare energy to worry about others.
In the blink of an eye, the little one was six months old.
From a baby who only ate and slept, she had grown into an adorable child who could smile and sit.
One morning, when Li Qingling opened her eyes, she met a pair of round, sparkling eyes.
She smiled.
“Good morning, Xiaoxiao.”
Hearing her name, the little one grinned, showing her pink gums, and giggled.
Seeing her angelic smile, Li Qingling’s smile deepened.
She stood up slowly and kissed her forehead.
“What are you laughing at, hm?”
Every time she saw that smile, all her worries disappeared.
Xiaoxiao babbled and reached for Li Qingling’s clothes.
“Hungry, aren’t you?”
Li Qingling tapped her little head and held her in her arms to nurse her.
The little one drank a bit, then looked up and smiled at her, playfully.
“Little rascal, stop playing and drink properly,” Li Qingling said with a laugh, gently pinching her ear.
Xiaoxiao obediently lowered her head and drank.
As soon as she finished, a familiar roar came from the door.
Li Qingling rubbed her forehead.
Diandian came on time, rain or shine.
She patted Xiaoxiao’s little bottom and told her to sit properly while she opened the door.
Xiaoxiao giggled as she watched.
When she saw Diandian running over, she laughed even louder.
Diandian braked and sat by the bed.
“Roar, roar…” Xiaoxiao, you’re up? Did you sleep well?
“Giggle…”
“Roar, roar…” Shall I carry you out to play later?
“Giggle…”
“Roar, roar…” You want to go shopping too, right?
Watching the “conversation” between one baby and one tiger, Li Qingling shook her head helplessly and went to wash up.
With Diandian around, Xiaoxiao wouldn’t fall off the bed.
Diandian was practically her nanny—protecting her in every way.
When Li Qingling came back, the two were still “chatting.”
Well, it was mostly Diandian talking to himself while Xiaoxiao giggled.
She really admired how he kept it going.
“Come, let’s change clothes,” Li Qingling said, reaching out.
She picked Xiaoxiao up.
Diandian immediately turned around, not looking.
He knew Xiaoxiao was a girl and he was male—he shouldn’t watch her change.
Every time she saw this, Li Qingling couldn’t help laughing.
He even knew “don’t look at what’s improper.”
Xiaoxiao bounced in her arms and pointed at Diandian, babbling.
“He’s shy. He’ll turn back after you’re dressed,” Li Qingling explained.
Xiaoxiao looked at Li Qingling, then at Diandian, and obediently spread her arms.
“Good girl,” Li Qingling said, kissing her forehead.
She dressed her quickly and put her in the stroller.
“Okay, Diandian.”
Diandian turned back and said he wanted to take Xiaoxiao out for a walk.
“Not to the streets, understand?” Li Qingling warned.
She was afraid he’d take her shopping.
“Roar, roar…” I’ll protect her. Nothing will happen.
He really wanted to take her to the streets—there were so many fun things.
She would love it.
Li Qingling put on a stern face.
“No.”
Even though Diandian was strong, others couldn’t understand him.
If something happened, he couldn’t ask for help.
Diandian stared at her for a long time, then reluctantly nodded.
Li Qingling rubbed his head, praised him, and promised they’d go together next time.
Hearing that, Diandian cheered up again.
He roared happily, went behind the stroller, lifted his paws, and pushed Xiaoxiao toward the door at full speed.
Xiaoxiao laughed so hard she squealed with joy.
