“Save the thanks for after this pig-slaughtering noise is over. I really can’t hold on much longer. Other people play the zither for money—she plays it for lives! Even after months of training, I’m still getting crushed by her music…”
Silver Wolf already looked like he was at his limit. His eyes were about to pop out as he stared ahead, Dou Qi in his hands surging rapidly toward the opposite side.
“Buzz—!”
The piercing zither sound gradually weakened, and a cold killing aura spread out.
Cold light flashed in Ling Ruoxi’s eyes as she said in a deep voice, “From now on, no one is allowed to withdraw. I’m using his spiritual energy to treat Ming Lang. If anything goes wrong midway, not only Ming Lang, but all of us will lose our lives!”
“You’re still going at it? Then hurry up—one note takes a life!” Qingyi coughed heavily, his right hand braced against the Dou Qi barrier as he quickly diverted the spiritual energy into Jiang Yu’s body.
Both hands pressed against the Demon-Slaying Qin, Ling Ruoxi closed her eyes. Her intent burst forth as purple Dou Qi wrapped around the pale violet spiritual energy and flowed toward Ming Lang’s body.
To save him, she had to enter his body—observe his condition while guiding the Dou Qi to smooth out his meridians. There could be no mistakes. Not even the slightest error was allowed.
A light breeze rose.
A green figure flashed forward. Killing intent surged in his black eyes as he kicked open the door with a loud bang, glaring angrily at the two figures rolling about on the bed.
“Ah—!”
“You old bastard, what are you? Get out!”
The interrupted couple grabbed pillows and hurled them toward the door.
The intruder flushed red, quickly shut the door, and ran off, stroking his beard angrily. “Hmph! I don’t believe you brats won’t come out. Huh?”
A wave of purple Dou Qi spread outward.
Tang Ming’s eyes lit up as he turned and rushed toward the room.
Luo Mingyu’s eyes narrowed sharply. He turned his head toward the outside and said coldly, “Someone’s coming.”
“No way—why now? Could it be the shop attendant or something? We didn’t even set up a barrier!” Silver Wolf wailed. They had come in a hurry, completely focused on Ming Lang, with no time to prepare anything.
Yuwen Zhiyuan frowned slightly, listening to the sounds outside, then shook his head. “Doesn’t seem like it. This person is about to step into Purple Venerable realm. His strength is average, but none of us can disengage right now…”
“Who says we can’t? Ruoxi, Ruoxi…” Silver Wolf called softly, looking at Ling Ruoxi, who was already sitting cross-legged in deep meditation. He called for a long while, but there was no response.
Qingyi rolled his eyes and said coldly, “She’s sealed her six senses to inspect Ming Lang’s body. Even if you shout yourself hoarse, she won’t hear you.”
“Can you not phrase it like that? It sounds like we’re doing something weird! Hurry and think of a solution!” Silver Wolf snapped, his face twisted like a bitter melon as he tilted his head toward the door.
The tall figure appeared at the doorway—but instead of pushing it open, he flashed to the window, as if summoning courage, pressed a hand against it, and vaulted inside.
So sneaky…
Even Jiang Yu’s mouth twitched. Was this old man really a near–Purple Venerable expert? Sneaking into someone else’s room like that?
“Uh…” Tang Ming froze as well. He’d chosen the window to avoid another awkward scene, expecting laughter and noise inside—but instead, several rays of light shot toward him.
He coughed lightly to steady himself and said coldly, “You little brats, you’re actually—Zizhu!”
His eyes widened as they landed on the Zizhu. Tang Ming’s gaze blazed with excitement. He’d originally come to negotiate over the Tang family’s trading grounds—but now…
Zizhu! The spiritual energy contained within it far surpassed ordinary Zizhu on the market. And what shocked him even more—there were four of them!
Greed surged instantly. Even Sacred-Domain pills couldn’t compare. If he devoured just one Zizhu, he could directly break through to Purple Venerable—why bother with pills?
“Hehe, judging by your state, you can’t move, can you?” Tang Ming probed coldly, eyes gleaming.
Qingyi smiled faintly. “Do you think we can’t? Old man, we’re just absorbing Zizhu energy. If you come closer, you’ll be bounced back instantly.”
“Absorbing Zizhu energy?” Tang Ming stared in shock. Sure enough, the spiritual energy of the four Zizhu was decreasing. These brats were secretly consuming Zizhu!
Killing intent surged in his dark eyes. “Stop immediately, or I’ll kill all of you!”
“Kill us?” Yuwen Zhiyuan laughed lightly. “Old man, life is precious—don’t commit slaughter because of greed. You’re just a Blue Venerable, barely pushing through with flawed Sacred-Domain pills. Do you really think a few Purple Venerables like us can’t deal with you?”
The word Blue Venerable stabbed straight into Tang Ming’s heart.
After all these years of cultivation, he was still stuck at Blue Venerable. At the final step, no matter what he tried, he couldn’t break through—yet these youngsters, barely grown, were all Purple Venerables!
Blood flashed in his eyes. Tang Ming clenched his fists and roared, “I may not be able to deal with you—but what about that woman and the kid lying there? While you’re absorbing Zizhu energy, can you stop me?!”
As soon as his words fell, his green robe flashed beside Ling Ruoxi. His fingers clamped tightly around her throat, ruthless light bursting from his eyes.
“Stop everything! Or I’ll snap her neck! Hand over the Zizhu!”
“So after all that, you’re here for the Zizhu.” Silver Wolf frowned—it must have been the earlier energy fluctuation that attracted him.
“Zizhu?” Tang Ming sneered. “You guessed wrong. I’m from the Tang family. You dared sell Sacred-Domain pills for nine hundred billion? Do you think you’re robbing people? I planned to teach you a lesson—but now it’s simple. Hand over the Zizhu!”
His grip tightened.
Ling Ruoxi’s face turned deathly pale. Cold sweat streamed down her forehead, blood slowly seeping from the corner of her mouth. At such a critical moment, even the slightest delay could mean death for all of them.
“Stop! Don’t hurt her!” Silver Wolf panicked, nearly withdrawing his hand. The Dou Qi trembled, weakening the connection with Ming Lang, whose face instantly worsened.
Tang Ming glanced at the bed and sneered. “So you’re using Zizhu energy to save this kid. No wonder you can’t move—you’re just stalling for time.”
“You—!” Qingyi’s face darkened. Their only hope now was that Ling Ruoxi could hurry—either cleanse the virus or stop what she was doing.
Jiang Yu’s expression changed drastically. Seeing Tang Ming reach toward Ming Lang, he roared, “Stop! You bastard! Touch him and I’ll kill you!”
“Oh? Seems you care about this kid.” Tang Ming sneered. “Then I’ll kill him first, then deal with you!”
His sword flashed into his hand and slashed down toward the bed—fast beyond belief.
“Boom!”
Black energy surged like lightning, blocking him instantly. No matter how he pushed, the blade couldn’t advance even an inch.
Luo Mingyu stood calmly, one hand lazily raised, a trace of disdain on his devilishly handsome face. “What—did you think our left hands were decorations?”
“You—!”
Before Tang Ming could react, the black energy rolled over him, giving him no chance. He twisted in midair, landing hard, sword slashing once more toward Ling Ruoxi’s throat.
Purple light flared—then instantly retracted. Only that monstrous man could divide his focus: breaking the barrier with one mind while suppressing the enemy with the other.
“That’s impossible! If we act, we’ll lose focus—we can’t continue!” Qingyi gritted his teeth.
Yuwen Zhiyuan watched Luo Mingyu with interest and chuckled softly. “Interesting. He can actually do that.”
“Boom!”
Tang Ming staggered back, staring in horror at Luo Mingyu. The purple-black aura made him tremble. Even with the sword at Ling Ruoxi’s neck, he couldn’t strike.
The overwhelming pressure was like a mountain on his shoulders—lifting his arm felt impossible. Sweat poured down his face as he gasped, eyes blazing.
“You… who exactly are you?!”
He was on the verge of Purple Venerable, yet before a true Purple Venerable, he couldn’t even resist. The gap was absolute.
Luo Mingyu merely raised an eyebrow, his left hand resting casually at his side, eyes calm.
“Who do you think I am?”
…
How the hell would I know?!
Tang Ming wanted to curse out loud—but the terrifying aura made him shiver.
Taking a deep breath, he sneered coldly. “I don’t care who you are. Since you’ve fallen into my hands today, I won’t hold back!”
