Buzz! A golden light suddenly appeared in the sky, flashing like lightning before everyone’s eyes. After the streak of light, several large characters appeared in the air:

“If you want to save someone, meet at the Peak of Luofeng at noon tomorrow.”

“The Peak of Luofeng? Where is that?” Ling Ruoxi frowned. Silver Wolf should be with Yuwen Zhiyuan. What are those two up to? No matter how weak their strength might be, self-preservation shouldn’t be an issue. Besides, Dou Qi masters are rare in these small countries—they couldn’t possibly be captured.

Zhao Xin shivered violently, staring at the characters in the sky in horror. He swallowed hard and said shakily, “The Peak of Luofeng… that’s where the Dou Qi masters gather! Has a friend of yours been taken there?”

“Dou Qi masters? Since when did they become bandit leaders occupying mountains?” the man in green asked in confusion. Still, anyone who could capture Silver Wolf must not be ordinary.

Zhao Xin shook his head quickly. “No, that’s not it. It’s a place where Dou Qi masters gather once a year. But… why would they capture your friend? Did your friend provoke those Dou Qi masters?”

“The Peak of Luofeng? Where is it exactly?” Ling Ruoxi frowned. Her connection with Silver Wolf had been completely severed. She couldn’t sense him at all. Damn it—Silver Wolf, I hope you’re alright!

“Well… the Peak of Luofeng is outside the Sword Pavilion, heading north along the mountains. It’s usually where the Dou Qi masters gather. As for your friend… uh, sir…” Zhao Xin began, stepping forward. His chubby belly shook as he moved, but when he turned around, the three people behind him had vanished—as if they had never existed.

He panicked—did he encounter something he shouldn’t have?

Meanwhile, three figures leapt from the eaves like lightning. Within a single incense stick’s time, they all moved toward the man. It was as if a blade had split the mountain in two, forming a deep ravine. The mountaintop, shrouded in clouds, lacked the evening sun, replaced by the chill of winter that made the body shiver.

The cold was biting, contrasting sharply with the outside temperature.

Buzz! A faint sound echoed. Ling Ruoxi’s expression darkened. She raised her right hand, and a compass appeared. The needle swayed erratically, pointing toward the mountains ahead.

“Be careful. There’s a formation ahead.” The compass was a reliable tool; any magnetic influence would make its needle swing, creating a false field. But even with the formation, they had to pass through!

She inhaled sharply. The man in green quickly blocked her from behind, eyes scanning the surroundings. His pupils contracted. “No… this is like the formation at the foot of the Sword Pavilion—naturally formed. If anyone tampers with it, we could be trapped here!”

“No, we’ve already entered the formation,” Luo Mingyu’s cold eyes glinted. “It moves.”

Moves?

Ling Ruoxi frowned, looking at the compass in her hand. Its needle spun in every direction. The surrounding aura suddenly turned cold, as if they had entered a frozen wasteland. The chilling wind whistled, and icy currents spiraled outward.

“This is strange… a moving formation. I’ve never seen this before. Be careful.” Cold light flashed in her eyes. The black pupils constricted. Suddenly, murderous intent came from all directions, flying forward like lightning.

The three inside the formation leapt simultaneously. The flying swords streaked like thunder, arriving in an instant.

Their bizarre footwork resumed. Ling Ruoxi darted through the swords like lightning. The flying swords faltered, as if they had eyes, splitting to either side at even greater speed than before.

“Damn, it has a tracking system!” Ling Ruoxi’s eyes nearly popped. She quickly dodged, raising her right hand. The Thunder Spear appeared, and she swung it backward at the incoming swords.

Clang! The swords collided with the spear, deafeningly. The mountain trembled, and nearby trees snapped in half.

Purple Dou Qi flared. A black scythe tore through the formation. The tall figure stood in a cloud of black mist, enveloped in a mysterious aura. Chains coiled around his arm like a crab’s claw, biting into flesh.

“Move!” Luo Mingyu whispered, pulling the others to rush outside.

As they escaped, the formation shuddered violently. White light exploded, filling the mountain valley. Had they been a moment later, they would have been obliterated.

“So dangerous… is there a time limit in this formation?” Ling Ruoxi’s forehead was damp with cold sweat. She recalled the earlier scene—no matter how strong her defenses, she couldn’t withstand that danger.

Luo Mingyu nodded, whispering, “They’re testing us—speed, strength, decision-making. Everything is part of it. We must resolve it quickly. Move!”

A gentle breeze rose. On the mountaintop, a person lay in the clouds, smiling faintly. His slender fingers traced his chin. With a flick of his left hand, he chuckled softly. “As expected of the Evil King… so fast. But, speed makes it less fun. Don’t you think?”

“What are you trying to do? I can’t figure you out at all!” The bound man struggled, but the ropes had been specially treated—there was no way he could escape.

With his body restrained, all Dou Qi disappeared, even the spiritual imprint between him and Ling Ruoxi vanished completely.

Shh. His long fingers pressed to his lips. He smiled lightly. “What do I want to do? Simple—play. But in playing, I also want to see their strength.”

“Yuwen Zhiyuan! Who are you? Years ago you forced me to leave, now you play the pitiful act, and still test my friends. What are you doing? Do you even realize—” Silver Wolf roared, his silver-white eyes blazing. His long hair floated without wind. He was furious, wishing he could break free from the ropes to stop the man.

Yuwen Zhiyuan dragged his chin, nodding with a smile. “I know exactly what I’m doing. You three, go greet them. They’re about to break through the encirclement anyway.”

“Yes!” The three standing nearby responded coldly and turned to leave.

Silver Wolf clenched his fists, shouting, “Yuwen Zhiyuan, this is too much! They are my friends! How can you test them? Do you know how cruel this is? What game are you playing?!”

“This? You’ll see in time. Honestly, playing two roles is tiring… but…” Yuwen Zhiyuan’s cold light flashed in his eyes. “At least I can see if they’re worthy for my best brother to join, and if they have the strength to tame you as a beast!”

Buzz! A cold spear shot forward like lightning.

The three advanced, landing in the plaza simultaneously. Across from them stood people with identical appearances—clothing and weapons unchanged. The only difference: their expressions were completely cold.

The man in green stared in horror at his doppelgänger, rubbing his eyes. “What… what’s going on? Did my soul leave my body?”

“No, idiot, focus—these are enemies,” Ling Ruoxi sighed.

To Luo Mingyu’s surprise, the doppelgänger also wielded a black scythe, eerily similar. But a closer look revealed it was only a superficial resemblance. The real Blood Demon Scythe could not be replicated.

“Wow… their weapon looks so powerful!” the man in green swallowed hard. But the real Blood Demon Scythe exists only once—no second copy could exist.

Ling Ruoxi drew a sharp breath, staring at the doppelgänger of the man in green. She asked in puzzlement, “Even the fake version of you is so weak—no weapons?”

“For us kind-hearted medics, do we need weapons? Hands are the best weapon!” he laughed, patting his hands.

Ling Ruoxi rolled her eyes, ignoring him.

The figure across shivered as if given an order. Cold glints flashed in his blank eyes, and like lightning, he surged forward. The spear raised in his hand, attacking first.

Just one move, and Ling Ruoxi’s face changed. The move mirrored hers exactly. Frowning, she dodged to the side, but the spear followed like lightning toward her waist.

Her bizarre footwork alerted her—this opponent knew her techniques and could anticipate her next move.

Her black pupils constricted. The figure vanished from sight, leaving her shocked.

Where did he go?!

Every hair on her body stood on end. A gust of wind struck. Ling Ruoxi’s expression changed drastically. The figure leaned forward, spinning the spear backward in a counterattack aimed at her.

She was fast—but the figure behind her was faster, striking diagonally forward, spear aimed at her neck.
