Xie Han pressed her delicate fingers against the desk, shaking her head. “I don’t know how to thank him. If I ever get the chance to leave here, I hope I can see him again. He truly is a good man. Back then, my father thought his family was wealthy and would never lack money, so he let me marry him. But I was weak; on the night of our wedding, I fainted. He took such good care of me and told me that this year, a great benefactor would appear to help me recover. I was so moved. He is, after all, a diviner, not a physician. My body grew weaker by the day, and his duties grew heavier—he often left early and returned late. I knew he went to the pleasure house, but I trusted him completely. He would never touch other women. Within a year, my father, using various excuses, took all his money and finally forced me to leave him. I nearly died of grief. For my sake, he even stole pills and almost had his leg broken. In the end, we divorced. On the day I left, he told me he had never loved me and urged me to marry well and live a good life.”

“Indeed, three days after our divorce, my father married me off to my current husband, who is very wealthy. He never cared for my health, forcibly took me, and boasted about it everywhere. How I hate it! How I regret not giving myself to Zhiyuan back then and being taken by such a scoundrel instead. He despised my weakness, abandoned me at my parents’ house, and spent every day chasing pleasure. My father only cared about the wealth. Sometimes I wished I could just smash my head here, but he told me to live well. I want to see him again in my lifetime, to see how he is now, whether he is well.”

Tears slowly fell from her eyes. The woman in the hall had already become a bundle of tears, choking and pale.

Ling Ruoxi patted her shoulder gently with one hand, shaking her head. “Don’t be sad. What has happened has happened—let it continue. You don’t like that Wang son. Stay here and live well. As for Yuwen Zhiyuan, we will bring him to see you.”

“Really? But… I might look ugly now… will he recognize me after all these years?” Xie Han fumbled with her clothes, her face alternating between tears and smiles, fixing her hair anxiously.

The man in green nodded and smiled. “Of course. You’re beautiful—truly beautiful. But I’m curious—why is he helping people now and making mistakes?”

“That… I don’t know. When I married him, he couldn’t read divinations correctly anymore. But he still took care of me and warned me many times, saving me from danger. I feel he didn’t make mistakes by accident—he did it intentionally. He simply didn’t want to reveal what he saw,” Xie Han said, clasping her hands. Otherwise, why would his warnings repeatedly save her from calamity when she married him? Yet why he did this… even she didn’t know.

“In that case, thank you. The pill you just took calms your body. As a reward, take this bottle of pills. A few days’ use will help your condition improve,” Ling Ruoxi said with a faint smile, placing a white jade bottle in front of her.

Xie Han stared at Ling Ruoxi as if remembering something and suddenly stood. “I remember! Many physicians and practitioners who could use Dou Qi came to Zhiyuan’s residence. I don’t know why, but every time they came, his expression would turn dark. Maybe it’s because of those Dou Qi masters that he became like he is now.”

“Dou Qi masters?” That’s strange. Why would Dou Qi masters seek out Yuwen Zhiyuan? Did he need divination to supplement his cultivation?

The three then bid farewell and left the mansion. They couldn’t understand it yet—perhaps they would hear Zhiyuan’s explanation later.

The starry sky stretched out like ink, and the exquisite moonlight was intoxicating. A bright moon hung in the night sky.

A black figure stood on the eaves, quietly enjoying the moonlight, a faint smile on his lips. One hand supported his chin, the breeze lightly lifting his clothes. His eyes, like stars, watched ahead with an ambiguous expression.

Boom! A commotion erupted below. The black figure shot through the air like lightning, swinging a fist at the person opposite.

“Oh dear, I came to see you, and this is how you greet me? So disappointing,” the figure said with a slight smirk, stepping back. The shadowy figure moved with ghost-like speed to the other side of the eaves.

The face was identical to Yuwen Zhiyuan’s, with a mischievous smile that made hearts skip a beat. Yet his aura was different—less solemn, more relaxed and natural.

Ling Ruoxi frowned. “Who are you?”

“So sad! We just met today, and you’ve already forgotten me? I’m the one who gave you money. But I couldn’t sleep, thinking of your candy… give me a few more to taste?” The man shrugged helplessly at Ling Ruoxi.

Ling Ruoxi’s lips twitched. “I know, but your name… tell me.”

“Already curious about my name? Sorry, I’m not interested. How about you tell me your husband’s name? I think you call him Mingyu. Hmm, good name.” He nodded, a glint flashing in his eyes.

The black figure moved instantly, narrowly missing a collision. He casually stood aside, watching Luo Mingyu, and nodded. “What a connection! I just thought of you, and here you are. Good boy, I missed you.”

“Who are you?” Luo Mingyu asked coldly, frowning. His right hand opened slightly, purple Dou Qi bursting outward toward the man.

The man sighed, touching the purple Dou Qi with a finger. It shivered and instantly turned to smoke. He raised an eyebrow and said, “You’re impatient too. But I don’t like overly impatient men. You should be gentle. You’re all rushing, making me nervous, scared, and worried.”

“Worried? Cut it out, pervert. What do you want?” The man in green nearly vomited at dinner, glaring at the mysterious person, unsure of his intentions.

“Pervert? Good! Call me that from now on. Looks like you’re busy hunting for the charlatan today—but give up. He won’t tell you anything. Ten years ago, he sealed his divinations. Unless you have something to move him… which you don’t. Good luck. Or… maybe check the Sword Pavilion Tower. With your status, it will be easy to enter.” The man smirked, then vanished like lightning into the night. Sword Pavilion Tower?

“I’m sorry. I don’t know where the Purple Bamboo is. With your compass, you should be able to locate it. Me interfering would be unnecessary,” Yuwen Zhiyuan said with a helpless smile.

The drafty house was truly uninhabitable.

The silver wolf shook his head. “It’s fine. You’re probably just tired. Rest tonight. Tomorrow, come with me. Even if you’re like a rat in the street, I’m your brother. We’ll take you away from here.”

“Thanks… but we’ll discuss that later,” Yuwen Zhiyuan smiled. He hadn’t found the exact location of the Purple Bamboo all night and stared out the door, stunned.

“You three are early. Did you come to make Silver Wolf leave?” Yuwen Zhiyuan smiled, patting Silver Wolf’s arm. They must have a purpose if they came here.

Silver Wolf got up, frowning. “What’s wrong? What happened? You…”

Boom! The thatched hut suddenly collapsed. Three figures flashed forward, dense aura filling the room. The force of their movements struck Silver Wolf before he could react, and he fell to the ground.

The Sword Pavilion Tower, famed as the strongest, housed countless rare tomes and treasured weapons, coveted by all Dou Qi masters. The higher the floor, the more important the books. Ten floors, all-encompassing, beyond the reach of ordinary people.

“Welcome, esteemed guests from Zifeng Nation to the Sword Pavilion. We are honored. May I ask which part of the Pavilion you wish to see?” the plump official said with a laugh. They were from Duanyun Nation, bearing the Emperor’s golden token, deserving utmost courtesy.

The man in green looked up at the towering Sword Pavilion and smiled. “We’ve heard it’s magnificent. We’d like to take a look. Could you assist us?”

“Uh…” Zhao Xin stiffened, caught off guard. Usually, visitors go elsewhere first, for sightseeing, food, and drink. Now…

He swallowed nervously. “I-I’m not unwilling, but there’s a formation outside the Tower. Even we cannot enter.”

“Formation? Could something powerful be sealed inside?” The man in green raised an eyebrow.

A chill ran through Ling Ruoxi. A silver light flashed across her forehead. Her heart raced. She looked to the sky, pressing her hand to her forehead. “Silver Wolf’s in trouble… where has that kid gone?!”
