“Shh… shh…” In the darkness, an unusual sound came from outside. The guard at the door frowned and quickly stood up.

His right hand already gripped the hilt of his sword. Ting Hai listened carefully, scanning all around. With the Young Master injured, he alone was responsible for protecting him. No matter what, he could not let the forces of Tian Waitian succeed. He had to protect the Young Master at all costs!

“Hm?” The person who had been asleep suddenly opened his eyes. The softness in his hands made it hard to let go. Seeing who was in front of him, his expression darkened.

When had he fallen asleep next to Ling Ruoxi? His hands were wrapped around the small woman in his arms!

Damn it. How could he fall asleep in such a situation? Hearing the commotion outside, Luo Mingyu withdrew carefully and slowly stood.

“Go to the little river to the right if you need to relieve yourself. Don’t pee here, hm…” The sleepwalking person muttered, still touching his own cheek.

“Idiot.” Luo Mingyu smiled faintly and quickly stepped outside the room. “What’s happening?”

“Young Master, we’re surrounded—at least ten Dou Qi practitioners. They’re from Tian Waitian!” Ting Hai’s expression grew even graver. Normally, even thirty Dou Qi practitioners would not have been a match for them, but now, with the Young Master injured, he could not attack fully and had to focus entirely on protecting Luo Mingyu.

“Tian Waitian really doesn’t give up. They actually followed us here,” Luo Mingyu sneered, gripping his left shoulder. Instinctively, he reached for his waist—but his familiar sword, Silver Moon, was gone. Without it, how could he confront these trash?

Ting Hai frowned. “Young Master, your injuries are unstable. You should stay inside and rest. Leave this to me!”

“How could you possibly handle them alone? I’ll go,” Luo Mingyu said softly. His right hand stretched out, purple sword energy forming in his palm. But without Silver Moon, his Dou Qi felt weak and unsteady.

Under the purple glow, his face looked even paler and more fragile.

Ting Hai’s face changed drastically. He quickly held Luo Mingyu’s wrist. “No, Young Master! Your body can’t endure Dou Qi—you’re already severely injured. You cannot force it! Leave now. Even if I die, you must get out of here!”

“Ting Hai!” Luo Mingyu’s face darkened further. The Dou Qi in his hands vanished. As Ting Hai said, his body was too weak to use Dou Qi.

Even normally, he relied on Dou Qi to sustain himself. Today, his back wound had been treated by Ling Ruoxi; under ordinary circumstances, he would have used Dou Qi to heal it himself.

“Young Master, go now!” Ting Hai gritted his teeth, frowning deeply.

From the darkness came a heavier, whistling sound. On a tree trunk above, a black figure stood calmly. Bells on their waist jingled, as if warning everyone below.

“Qiongyu Island Marquis Young Master, Ting Hai Protector, leave your lives behind!” A cold voice echoed. The standing figure sneered.

Around them, a dozen or so figures quickly approached, surrounding the small house, giving them no chance to react.

This time, escape was impossible.

Ting Hai took a sharp breath. “What do you want? The Young Master came to Tian Waitian at your King’s invitation, yet you plot to ambush him halfway. Is this Tian Waitian’s sincerity? If anything happens to the Young Master, none of you will survive!”

“Hahaha!” The arrogant voice echoed. The figure standing coldly sneered. “Ting Hai, you’re far too naive. The Qiongyu Island Marquis Young Master? We don’t even call him the Young Master! Qiongyu Island has 108 candidate Young Masters. He’s merely the one who rose to prominence in the position. Killing him will not anger Qiongyu Island—he is not the true Young Master!”

“You…” Ting Hai’s face darkened. As the assassin said, Luo Mingyu was merely a candidate. If the position of Young Master were taken by someone else, his fate would be sealed.

On Qiongyu Island, losing status or power meant immediate execution. This was why the Island Lord had sent Luo Mingyu to Tian Waitian. But now… Tian Waitian clearly had other intentions.

“Heh, you’re right. Qiongyu Island doesn’t care if I live or die. You can kill me anytime… but don’t forget who I am!” The man’s tone turned cold, threatening.

“Of course we know who you are—you’re only the Qiongyu Island Marquis Young Master, Luo Mingyu. How could you compare to us?” The cold voice grew sharper. The man standing waved his hand. “Besides, we’ve informed Danyun Kingdom. They sent a secret letter to Beining Kingdom. Soon, Beining’s army will arrive. Perfect timing to let them see how this Marquis Young Master dies!”

“Arrogant! You are insolent!” Ting Hai’s anger surged, eyes glaring with murderous intent.

Before he could continue, the door “bang!” was pushed open. A white-clad woman stood there, black hair flying. Her grotesque half-face resembled an Asura, glaring fiercely at everyone.

“Damn you! Bored to death, playing murder games in the middle of the night? Do you know it’s rest time? I just dreamt my hero was hugging me—what are you idiots doing?!”

“Ghost!” Everyone who had seen Ling Ruoxi’s face paled, nearly falling from the tree trunk.

Even the assassins’ faces went white. A human-ghost hybrid shouting curses at them in the open—none had dared this before.

Ting Hai’s mouth twitched—this woman’s scolding even surpassed what trained killers could endure.

“Ghost? You’re the ghosts! Sneaking into someone’s house at midnight? Have some decency, geez. Hero… hmm? You’re out too? Let’s go, back to sleep.” Spotting Luo Mingyu, Ling Ruoxi instinctively grabbed his cold arm, pulling him toward the room.

The assassins froze. Wait—a moment ago, Luo Mingyu had come from that room. So this woman too… could it be… the Qiongyu Island Marquis Young Master?

“Hahaha, didn’t expect the Qiongyu Island Marquis Young Master to like… extreme tastes. Impressive.” A laughing assassin tried to speak, but his mouth suddenly clamped shut.

Ling Ruoxi had inserted fine silver needles into his acupoints, immobilizing him. He yelped when she pulled them out.

“Who dares strike secretly?” he shouted.

“Which eye did you see me strike secretly?” Ling Ruoxi raised an eyebrow, holding dozens of silver needles. She looked at them coldly. “You call yourselves assassins? All clumsy and flashy like Ultraman. You think you’re Superman? Diga? Spider-Man?”

“What nonsense are you talking about?!” The assassin fumed. Her disdain made it clear—they were being treated like fools.

Ling Ruoxi raised her hand, smirking. “Come on, if you dare. I want to see who’s tougher—me or you!”

“The little blonde with no filter, boss! Let’s go—if we delay, the Beining army will arrive!” Another assassin warned.

The standing assassin nodded. No time to hesitate. The thirteen of them leapt like starving tigers, rushing forward.

“Ting Hai, Dou Qi!” Luo Mingyu gestured. White powder appeared in his hand. Ling Ruoxi, without thinking, flicked it out.

Ting Hai was quick, too. Blue Dou Qi shot out like lightning, dispersing the white powder.

The thirteen rushing attackers scattered but still got hit by the powder. As they hit the ground, they writhed as if covered in countless insects.

“It itches! I’m dying!”

“Heavens, what is this?! Help!”

“Boss, leave, quickly!”

None of the thirteen escaped. They had no idea Ling Ruoxi would suddenly unleash this powder. They rolled on the ground in agony.

Sniffing the air, Luo Mingyu frowned. “What is that?”

“Pollen. I added a little something—makes them want to… to die of desire. No antidote. They’ll have to scratch for two days and nights, but by then, their bones and flesh… well, depends on luck.” Ling Ruoxi shrugged, yawning.

Ting Hai shivered, watching her cautiously. Even Dou Qi practitioners couldn’t resist it—if he angered her, he’d likely end up just like the attackers.

“Hm? The ship’s here?” Luo Mingyu saw a boat slowly entering the edge of the lake. It was no ordinary boat—a three-story yacht, lanterns hanging from every level. Its glowing lights gave Ling Ruoxi the eerie impression of a ghost ship.

Rubbing her eyes, Ling Ruoxi asked, “Where is this boat going?”

“The Open Sea. Once there, your injuries won’t matter.” Luo Mingyu’s expression was indifferent. He reached out, holding Ling Ruoxi’s wrist.

“Let’s go. Didn’t you say you wanted to go to the Open Sea?”

“Of course! I’ve never left here before. I’m ready to explore the world and chase my dreams!” She instinctively touched her stomach, a happy smile blooming on her lips.
