Inside the previously sealed cavern, pathways suddenly appeared, crisscrossing like a massive wasp nest—countless and confusing. Two figures immediately darted toward one of them; they had to escape.
Fierce footsteps echoed as a black-clad figure appeared at the edge of the icy pond, his face terrifyingly dark. His cold eyes locked onto the empty rotating platform before him. With a turn, he slammed a fist into the rock.
Bang! The hard stone cracked, forming a large crater. The man’s expression grew even colder—he hadn’t expected a human to cross the underworld water and rescue the little creature inside.
“Bring everyone! Find them at all costs! And that little thing—once located, eliminate it immediately!” The man in black barked sharply. Sniffing the air, his eyes hardened, and he bolted toward the nearest passage.
Those following him scattered, rushing down different paths. Among them were magical beasts not fully transformed into humanoid forms—some still had pig-like hooves, others wings, some with furry ears sticking out, others with tails exposed.
Yet all shared a fierce, relentless glare. Even the rats on the ground joined the hunt, scurrying into the maze of tunnels.
“Faster! He’s coming! He’s so fast!” Xiao Wu, still in Ling Ruoxi’s hands, squawked. Her chubby body twisted, pecking at Ling Ruoxi’s arm, trying to urge her along.
Holding the mischievous little thing, Ling Ruoxi’s expression darkened. She could sense just how terrifying the presence behind them was—even from a distance, that immense aura was palpable. Unlike ordinary beasts—or even Silver Wolf—this one radiated overwhelming power.
“A very formidable magical beast. I don’t even know its species. In short, it’s extremely dangerous,” Silver Wolf muttered. Here, they could only follow Xiao Wu’s guidance to know which way to flee.
But no matter which path they took, that gaze seemed to be fixed on them—and its aura was growing ever closer, almost upon them!
Bang! Just as they were about to turn a corner, the running figures froze in shock. Ahead, the corner revealed a black figure about to enter their passage. If they met, they’d see each other immediately.
“Damn…” Ling Ruoxi’s face went pale. Her heart stopped for a moment.
Xiao Wu shivered—could it really be that they wouldn’t escape this?
“This way!” A low voice sounded in her ear. Ling Ruoxi felt a familiar warmth as a hand grabbed her wrist, gently pulling her aside.
The black figure, facing the empty tunnel, scowled and continued running forward.
Phew! Ling Ruoxi’s nerves tensed as she wiped cold sweat from her brow. She looked up and froze.
“Luo Mingyu, what are you doing here?”
“Who told you to run into a magical beast cavern? Get out!” Luo Mingyu’s face was grim. One hand pulled Ling Ruoxi, the other grabbed Silver Wolf’s collar, and he surged forward.
He didn’t follow the tunnel paths but instead took a piercing route, passing through walls to another direction.
The tunnels were convenient, but too limited. They couldn’t cover distances as efficiently as a straight path—explaining how Luo Mingyu could get the two of them out of the man’s sight so quickly.
“Beast cavern… is this their territory? Who was that man? And what exactly is this thing?” Xiao Wu appeared, still hairless, flapping in Ling Ruoxi’s hands.
Luo Mingyu’s lips twitched sharply as he stopped in his tracks, his expression twisted with alarm.
“You… you brought it out!”
“W-What’s wrong?” Ling Ruoxi hadn’t seen Luo Mingyu this tense before. She swallowed nervously. Did she do something wrong? Was this beast not supposed to be taken out?
Luo Mingyu didn’t have time to explain. He tugged Ling Ruoxi forward. “Idiot, it’s fine. Bringing it out means they won’t escape easily. Even if we ran to the farthest corner of the continent, they could still track us!”
“Hmph. If you know you can be tracked, why run? Foolish human!” A cold voice, like a thousand-year-old icy pond, could melt anything in its path.
An invisible murderous aura spread. The three previously trapped figures froze. The rock walls shifted aside, and the black figure emerged from the darkness like the Grim Reaper.
As he appeared, the lamps around them lit up, bathing the area in a terrifying green glow. The enormous space resembled a football field, fully enclosed by jagged rocks.
Luo Mingyu stepped forward, blocking the two in front of him, and coldly said, “Oh? So this was part of your setup. What exactly do you intend?”
“Simple. Kill you!” The voice was cold, full of deadly intent.
The man ahead radiated an infinite black aura, winding around him like old bark. Stronger than three years ago, the energy fluctuations were intense. Ling Ruoxi’s pupils constricted—just his aura alone was enough to threaten her.
“Wow, Dad’s so amazing!” Xiao Wu shouted excitedly. With a father like this, what was there to fear?
Ling Ruoxi froze. How did the little creature know Luo Mingyu was its father? The voice continued, innocent and clear:
“That’s because Mom’s body has Dad’s scent, and Dad’s body has Mom’s scent. I’m royal—naturally stronger than these beasts. I can sense your aura.”
Ling Ruoxi’s lips twitched bitterly. The tiny creature could detect the aura between them.
The man coldly stared at Luo Mingyu, realizing he wasn’t easy to fight either. His eyes glinted, pointing at Ling Ruoxi. “I know you’re strong, but I won’t accept mutual destruction. I want that woman, that little creature, and that silver-furred wolf pup!”
“Hey! I’m a full-grown wolf, not a pup!” Silver Wolf growled, glaring at the man.
Clenching his fingers, the man continued: “My patience is limited. They released this little beast. Therefore, they must die!”
“And if I say no?” A shadow wrapped tighter around Luo Mingyu. A cold wind surged, and immense pressure radiated like a tidal wave.
Rainchou’s expression darkened. “So, you’re determined to oppose me!”
“She’s my woman. If it were you, would you hand her over?”
“I have no woman! Besides, just a woman—give her up, find another one.”
The temperature dropped sharply, tens of degrees. The men standing nearby looked grim as lethal auras expanded.
In an instant, the black and white figures vanished, reappearing in the center of the field. Their hands locked, neither backing down.
Ling Ruoxi gasped and handed Xiao Wu to Silver Wolf.
Flapping its wings, Xiao Wu shouted: “Mom, come back! You can’t beat him! He’s too strong!”
Not even three steps forward, Ling Ruoxi’s expression changed drastically. The field ahead seemed to multiply gravity tenfold. Her legs were planted, unable to move, forced to watch.
“You’re strong. But you should know what happens when you provoke me!” Rainchou’s voice rang coldly. His deadly aura surged. A sharp motion of his hand sent sword qi whistling forward.
Luo Mingyu stepped back lightly, using gentle force to push Ling Ruoxi out of harm’s way. “Don’t advance further. If you step closer, the killing intent here will backfire on you!”
A feather-light longsword appeared in Rainchou’s hand, his gaze icy. “So attached to this woman? Human emotions are complex—possessing them is a weakness!”
“So for all these years, you stayed here—no love, no one to protect. Even your strength has declined.” Luo Mingyu’s smile was faint, right hand flicking. A massive scythe taller than him appeared.
The Blood Demon Scythe’s presence froze the surrounding aura. The man stood coldly, the sharp blade emitting a chilling glow, radiating lethal intent.
Rainchou’s eyes widened. “Hahaha! The Blood Demon Scythe I’ve sought is in your hands! You’re evil, yet you have feelings?”
“This continent divides good and evil, but who says the evil can’t have emotions? Who says evil must live coldly like you?” Luo Mingyu’s cold smile deepened. Without Ling Ruoxi, he may have hidden himself—but now, there was no reason to hide.
Their bond was direct; no one could separate them.
Rainchou drew his sword, recalling harsh lessons: “A human once told me not to trust them—they lie to gain your trust. On this continent, you rely on yourself, not friends. Become stronger than all others, and then you’re invincible—like me now, capable of defeating you at any moment!”
He swung his hand. Black aura surged, shaking the ground and sending rocks flying forward.
