SAG -Chapter 186 He Yong’s Killing Intent

Zhang Ran could only sigh inwardly.

Even now, he still hadn’t managed to sort out all the relationships within China’s internet industry.

Over the years, no sector had changed more dramatically than this one.

Just as he was thinking about these matters, Zhang Sicheng finished explaining everything he knew about Weiteng Group and looked at his father expectantly.

What else could Zhang Ran do?

He could only offer praise.

“Very good. It proves that you’ve truly been doing well during this period.”

Then he asked seriously, “What are your own thoughts? Sell or not sell?”

The answer to that question would determine whether Zhang Sicheng would eventually take the path of a business leader or become a leisurely wealthy man.

Naturally, Zhang Sicheng knew nothing about such deeper implications.

Scratching his head, he laughed.

“I’m not stupid. We’re only getting started—there’s no way I’m selling now.”

“And I genuinely love the gaming industry, so I have no plans to sell for the time being.”

“I only talked with Weiteng to understand our current valuation and to give our employees more confidence.”

Zhang Ran nodded.

“Since you’ve already made your decision, then follow your own ideas.”

“Actually, the reason I brought it up is that I wanted you to ask Mingxuan for his opinion. After all, he also owns shares in the company,” Zhang Sicheng said.

“You can ask him yourself. If he wants to sell, then buy out his shares with your own money. If you don’t have enough cash, I’ve got plenty,” Zhang Ran replied casually.

In truth, he knew Meng Mingxuan would never sell.

He simply wanted the two young men to communicate more frequently.

“Oh, right. How has He Qing been doing at your company?” Zhang Ran suddenly asked.

“Very well,” Zhang Sicheng answered.

“She works incredibly hard. She should already have a solid grasp of the company’s financial situation.”

“Good. In a while, evaluate her and see how capable she really is,” Zhang Ran said.

Although Zhang Sicheng had no idea what his father intended, he agreed without hesitation.

He knew that He Qing was He Yong’s daughter, so he had always taken particularly good care of her.

After dinner and the family discussions ended, Zhang Ran was immediately dragged away by the two little ones.

The children genuinely missed him.

At this point, they didn’t want to leave his side even for a moment.

“Grandpa, look! What do you think of my Drunken Fist? Is it cool?”

Zhang Xiaotao asked excitedly, panting.

A moment earlier, the boy had proudly demonstrated a self-created martial art routine he called Drunken Fist, making Zhang Ran laugh nonstop.

“Excellent! Taotao is amazing!” Zhang Ran praised him enthusiastically.

“Hahaha! I knew it! I’m the strongest!”

The little fellow immediately placed his hands on his hips and burst into triumphant laughter.

Susu was equally supportive.

“Big Brother Taotao is the best!”

Pretending to be unhappy, Zhang Ran looked at her.

“What about Grandpa, then?”

The little girl instantly switched sides.

“Grandpa is even stronger than Big Brother Taotao!”

Watching Zhang Ran play with the children, Liu Lu—who happened to have the day off—smiled warmly nearby.

“Xiaolu, do you have any thoughts about your current job? I don’t mean anything by it; I’m just asking,” Zhang Ran said.

Now that both Zhang Sicheng and Zhang Siyan had their own careers, if Liu Lu wanted to become a successful businesswoman as well, Zhang Ran was fully prepared to support her.

After all, it was a promise he had made.

The Zhang family would never wrong Liu Lu.

However, Liu Lu hadn’t considered such things at all.

After thinking briefly, she replied, “I think working at the hospital is pretty good. I’m not even very busy these days.”

“If I stopped working, I honestly wouldn’t know what to do with myself.”

“What I mean is, would you like to change careers? Something like what Sicheng and Siyan are doing,” Zhang Ran clarified.

Only then did he realize that Liu Lu hadn’t even thought along those lines.

She looked puzzled.

“You mean…?”

“If you’re willing, I can help you start a company too. You could build your own business and do something you truly enjoy,” Zhang Ran explained openly.

The moment she understood, Liu Lu waved her hands frantically.

“No, no, absolutely not!”

“I don’t know how to run a business. I can’t even claim to excel at my current work—how could I possibly start a company?”

“Thank you, Dad, but I really like my job right now.”

“And I have no management skills. If I tried to start a business, the only result would be wasting money.”

Zhang Ran smiled.

“Management can be learned. That’s not a problem. Didn’t Sicheng start out knowing nothing? Now he’s managing a company quite well.”

Still, Liu Lu firmly shook her head.

“Dad, it’s different.”

“I know you’re thinking of me and treating me kindly, but I’m comfortable with my current life and work.”

Seeing her reject the idea repeatedly, Zhang Ran didn’t press the matter further.

He simply added,

“If you ever change your mind in the future, tell me directly.”

“Thank you, Dad.”

A while later, after things quieted down, He Yong approached Zhang Ran.

“Brother Zhang, Huzi said he no longer has any contact with those people from back then. Do you want me to track them down?” he asked hesitantly.

Taking a small sip of tea, Zhang Ran replied, “What would we find them for?”

“Yes, what they did back then wasn’t particularly honorable. But, in a sense, they were protecting themselves.”

“There’s no need to pursue the matter after all these years.”

“Let it count as preserving the bond we once shared.”

“But they betrayed you in the end,” He Yong said.

“If we don’t deal with it, I’m afraid others may develop the same ideas in the future.”

As he spoke, a flash of murderous intent appeared in his eyes.

In reality, the person who cared most about this wasn’t Zhang Ran.

It was He Yong.

Those men had all once been his subordinates.

Their betrayal had always filled him with guilt.

It remained a thorn buried deep in his heart.

During this period, he had stayed by Zhang Ran’s side.

Since Zhang Ran never mentioned it, he had suppressed his feelings.

But after encountering Zhao Hu again, all those memories resurfaced.

Fortunately, Zhao Hu and the others had disappeared quickly after those events.

Otherwise, He Yong would likely have hunted them down one by one.

Given his state of mind back then…

The outcome would have been difficult to imagine.

Looking at He Yong, Zhang Ran felt deeply moved.

Many people believed that He Yong had struck the jackpot by meeting Zhang Ran.

Even He Yong himself thought so.

But for Zhang Ran, meeting someone like He Yong was equally a blessing.

“Dayong, times have changed,” Zhang Ran said softly.

“Violence and bloodshed no longer solve problems.”

“And now, you’re a father too.”

“You need to think more about He Qing.”

“But…” He Yong remained unwilling.

In his heart, anyone who betrayed Zhang Ran deserved death.

Zhang Ran waved his hand with a smile.

“I understand your concerns.”

“But aren’t you still here?”

“With you by my side keeping watch, what do I have to fear?”

Lowering his voice, He Yong said, “But Brother Zhang, I’m getting old.”

“Someday, younger people will have to take over certain responsibilities.”

That was his true worry.

He was aging.

Zhang Ran, however, seemed untouched by time.

He feared that after he was gone, similar betrayals might happen again.

Zhang Ran laughed.

“Who says you’re old?”

“Trust me—you aren’t old.”

“As long as you’re here watching over things, I have nothing to worry about.”

Then, after a pause, he added, “That said, if we’re talking about finding people, there is someone I’d like to locate.”

“The person who secretly warned you back then.”

“We should find out who that was and see if there’s an opportunity to repay the favor.”

“But there’s no need to force it.”

“Once the current matters settle down, we’ll look into it slowly and naturally.”
