RMM – Chapter 9 Boss of Mu You

Rebirth: A Military Marriage 12 min read 9 of 365 66

Su Ruo stood frozen in front of Mu You, feeling like she had turned to stone. It was as if she could only inhale, too shocked to exhale.

It was Mu You! Mu You was actually… hers?!

Who in City B didn’t know about Mu You Entertainment Club? It was a high-end establishment known for luxury and top-tier service, far surpassing its competitors. It wasn’t just the rich who flocked to it—even her past self, who had lived in poverty, had secretly dreamed of experiencing it just once.

And now, this grand, opulent place belonged to her?

It felt like a dream…

“Come on, what are you spacing out for?”

He Wen turned back and saw Su Ruo staring blankly at the entrance of Mu You, looking as if she had just witnessed something earth-shattering. It was utterly embarrassing—who would believe that the boss of Mu You would look like this?

As soon as He Wen dragged Su Ruo inside, someone immediately came to greet them.

“Miss He, Miss Su.”

The speaker was a young man in formal business attire, with delicate features and a respectful but confident demeanor, making people feel at ease.

Su Ruo secretly marveled—no wonder Mu You had such a prestigious reputation. Everything about it was extraordinary. But wait… wasn’t she the boss? Why was he calling her “Miss Su” instead of “Boss”?

She quietly voiced her doubts to He Wen, who turned and chuckled before whispering, “Think about your status. You’re the daughter of a general, the daughter-in-law of a minister—tsk tsk, just these two titles alone are enough to make you a big deal. And we’re not even mentioning your husband. If you’re not careful, do you know how many people could get dragged into trouble?”

After He Wen’s explanation, Su Ruo finally understood. Right—her background was indeed impressive, but it also came with a lot of restrictions. She had to be careful with everything she did. Any misstep could have serious consequences.

Seeing Su Ruo deep in thought, He Wen burst into laughter, drawing the attention of passersby.

“You actually took that seriously? Did you hit your head too hard? Do you really think your little club is important enough to bring people down? Even if your father and father-in-law lost all their influence, they wouldn’t be that useless. And even if something really happened, Jiang Sheng’an or Lu Yue could handle it in minutes. You’re so naive.”

He Wen’s blunt mockery bruised Su Ruo’s pride. So what if she was ignorant? In her past life, she had no way of knowing any of this!

But… “This place must have cost a fortune to open. Where did I get the money?” That was something she was genuinely curious about. Everything from the location to the equipment and management of Mu You was top-notch. How much must the initial investment have been?

“You sure care a lot, huh? What if I told you it was all from loans? Not just your own—you even got us to take out loans to lend you money. Tsk tsk, you refused to ask your family for a single cent, didn’t even tell them about it. But you pulled it off—your business boomed the moment it opened, and within a year, you paid off all the debts. It kept growing, and yet, you insist on staying behind the scenes. What’s going on in that head of yours?”

What was she thinking? Only the real Su Ruo, who had mysteriously disappeared, would know that. As an imposter, how could she? But Su Ruo had to admit, the original owner of this body was incredible. Now that Mu You was in her hands, could she really manage it?

And the name “Mu You” was pretty interesting—it was just the characters from “Su Ruo” split apart.

While Su Ruo was lost in thought, a middle-aged man approached them with a friendly smile and quickened his pace. “Oh my, Boss, what brings you here today? You should’ve told me in advance!”

The sudden greeting startled Su Ruo. She looked up to see a beaming man—whom, unsurprisingly, she didn’t recognize.

Just as she hesitated over how to respond, He Wen spoke up.

“Oh? Been a few days, and Manager Yang has grown quite selective. You only have eyes for the boss now? Have us ‘small characters’ become an eyesore?”

Hearing the teasing tone, Yang Yu hurriedly responded with a flattering smile. “Miss He, you’re joking! If you’re a small character, then I must be a frog in a well! I’ve had an eye twitch all afternoon, and now I see it was because you were coming. If I had known, I would’ve been downstairs waiting for you! I should be punished for my negligence.”

As Mu You’s manager, Yang Yu naturally knew the status of these “ancestors”—even if he had ten lives, he wouldn’t dare offend them. He had to be cautious and respectful at all times.

“Hmph, still as slick-tongued as ever. Fine, I’ll let you off this time. Now get out of the way.”

“Would you like me to lead the way? Consider it my way of making up for it.” Yang Yu was a skilled manager—reading the room was part of his job.

“The best way to make up for it is to disappear immediately. I’ll remember that favor. Now scram.”

Impatient, He Wen waved him away, grabbed Su Ruo, and walked off without even listening to his response.

Su Ruo hadn’t spoken a single word throughout the exchange, but Yang Yu didn’t seem surprised. After all, unless it was with close family or friends, Su Ruo was never particularly warm toward others. Sometimes, she didn’t even acknowledge people.

“That man was Yang Yu, your manager,” He Wen whispered as they walked away. “Don’t be fooled by his smooth talking—he’s actually quite capable. He’s helped you a lot.”

They reached the fourth floor. Aside from an open space near the stairwell with sofas, drinks, and a bar for guests, the entire floor was filled with private rooms. The hallway was silent, with only staff quietly moving about—no outsiders in sight. Everyone must have been inside the rooms.

Su Ruo raised an eyebrow. Mu You wasn’t just high-end; it had different levels of exclusivity. The stark contrast in decor, the presence of top-tier facilities, and even the outstanding looks and demeanor of the staff all made it clear—this floor was off-limits to ordinary people.

As they walked deeper, responding to the soft greetings of the staff, He Wen finally stopped at the last door.

Nervously, Su Ruo followed He Wen inside.

The people in the room turned at the sound of the door opening. Upon seeing them, they immediately greeted her enthusiastically.

“Well, well, look who finally decided to show up! Our dear Miss Su, we’ve been waiting for you forever!”

Su Ruo vaguely remembered the speaker’s name—Lu Yue, was it? She could only respond to the teasing with an awkward smile.

By now, she was surrounded by a group of people. As they greeted her with warm familiarity, Su Ruo returned their smiles but quickly cast a helpless look at He Wen, silently pleading for help. It wasn’t that she was being distant—she just didn’t know any of these people!

“Alright, alright, you all know she lost her memory. Are you trying to scare her on purpose?”

Finally noticing Su Ruo’s distress, He Wen stepped in and pulled her away, leading her to the couch by the wall.

Just as she sat down, someone immediately sat beside her—this time, a familiar face: Duan Wei.

“Ruo Ruo, you got discharged and didn’t even tell us? It’s been days! If it weren’t for He Wen, who knows when we’d see you again?”

Hearing the complaint, Su Ruo thought to herself, I don’t even know you people, why would I contact you?

But outwardly, she smiled and replied, “I just got out of the hospital. My head still isn’t fully healed, so I’ve been extra careful. I didn’t want to spoil the mood. But as soon as I felt better, I rushed over!”

Su Ruo’s friends would remain Su Ruo’s friends. Since she had now become Su Ruo, it was only right for her to continue their friendships.

“Oh my, has losing your memory also made you lose your temper? You even know how to say things like this now.”

Jiang Sheng’an leaned in, exclaiming loudly with a face full of surprise.

It wasn’t just Jiang Sheng’an—everyone else was equally taken aback. She really had lost her entire personality. In the past, Su Ruo would never have said something like that. If she didn’t scold you, that was already being nice.

“Haha, yeah, one case of amnesia, and everything is lost…” Su Ruo laughed dryly.

“Amnesia is no big deal, as long as you’re still alive. If you forgot, just slowly relearn everything.”

The one speaking was a young man with a strikingly handsome face, his slightly upturned peach blossom eyes shimmering with light. His slender fingers tapped against the glass in his hand, exuding a lazy yet noble air. He was truly bewitching—those eyes could steal a person’s soul. Su Ruo quickly lowered her gaze, suppressing a small smile. She had never seen this man before. Although he seemed like someone who would be easy to get along with, he was, after all, a complete stranger.

When the man saw Su Ruo avoid eye contact, his peach blossom eyes dimmed slightly before quickly regaining their brilliance. He chuckled lightly and said, “That’s the problem. Even with amnesia, you still don’t like me.” His tone was somewhere between a joke and a hint of loss.

Su Ruo felt a little awkward. What was this supposed to mean? She was a married woman.

Noticing her discomfort, the man raised an eyebrow slightly. Was this still Su Ruo? She actually looked awkward—this was a complete transformation. If that was the case, could certain things take a different turn?

“Forgot to introduce myself. I’m Liang Bo’an. Really heartless of you to forget all of us.”

Seeing how casually Liang Bo’an smiled, as if nothing had happened, Su Ruo felt less awkward. If she took every joke seriously, it wouldn’t be fun. So she smiled back and replied, “Nice to meet you. This time, I won’t forget.”

Su Ruo’s smile made her eyes curve beautifully, a gleam of light flickering in them, momentarily taking Liang Bo’an’s breath away. Su Ruo had never smiled like this before—so this was what she looked like when she truly smiled. It was mesmerizing.

Just then, He Wen, who had been chatting nearby, turned her head and saw the scene. Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly came over with a teasing smile. “You two seem to be having a lively conversation. Ruo Ruo, you’re adjusting pretty fast—not bad at all.”

He Wen was well aware of Liang Bo’an’s feelings for Su Ruo. It was precisely because she knew that she had to step in. She never expected that Liang Bo’an hadn’t given up yet. After all these years, even after Su Ruo had rejected him outright, now that she had amnesia, he was making a move again?

Liang Bo’an only momentarily lost himself before quickly recovering. Seeing He Wen deliberately inserting herself between him and Su Ruo, he understood what was going on. He smiled faintly and didn’t say anything further, though his gaze would still occasionally drift toward Su Ruo.

Su Ruo, noticing He Wen sitting down beside her, let out a small sigh of relief and whispered a complaint, “You really are something. You know I have amnesia, yet you leave me alone to fend for myself.”

He Wen dismissed it lightly. “They’re not strangers. What are you so nervous about? You all grew up together. The more you interact, the more familiar you’ll get. Relax.”

She didn’t mention anything about Liang Bo’an, not wanting to add unnecessary pressure.

“Easy for you to say! So what if I feel awkward? If you leave me alone again, I won’t go out with you next time!” Su Ruo emphasized. She needed time to recognize everyone first.

“Ruo Ruo, does your head still hurt? Haven’t seen you at the compound lately. Have you been staying home all the time?”

The one speaking was Wen Shaoning. He had visited her in the hospital before, so Su Ruo had some impression of him and felt he was a decent person.

“I’ve been fine for a while now. But sometimes I still feel a little unwell, so I’ve been staying home.” Su Ruo answered vaguely, avoiding the fact that she had moved out.

The atmosphere grew lively again as everyone started chatting. The group surrounded Su Ruo, bombarding her with questions. Just then, another person arrived—Xi Yuehui.

As soon as Xi Yuehui walked in, he saw Su Ruo at the center of attention, chatting and laughing without a care in the world. He raised an eyebrow slightly—his sister-in-law seemed to be in a good mood.

“Sister-in-law!” Xi Yuehui called out loudly.

Almost everyone turned at the sound of his voice to see him approaching at a leisurely pace, including Su Ruo. She felt a headache coming on—why did he have to shout so loudly? Was he afraid people wouldn’t know?

“Hehe, carry on, everyone. I just got excited seeing my dear sister-in-law,” Xi Yuehui grinned as he sat down on the couch.

Su Ruo shot him a glare, thinking, How can brothers be so different? Xi Yuehui and Xi Yuechen are worlds apart!

He Wen looked at Xi Yuehui, who had conveniently seated himself between Su Ruo and Liang Bo’an, with an amused expression. It seemed like quite a few people were aware of Liang Bo’an’s feelings.

Xi Yuehui caught He Wen’s glance and returned it with a knowing smile. Then, turning to Su Ruo, who was talking to Duan Wei, he suddenly asked, “Sister-in-law, where’s my brother? Weren’t you two together?”

The room fell silent. Oh right, they had almost forgotten—Su Ruo was married. That god of war…

He Wen’s lips curled into a smirk as she watched Su Ruo, waiting for her response. Even Liang Bo’an turned to look at her.

Su Ruo shot Xi Yuehui a why-are-you-like-this? look, quickly thinking of a way to respond. Just as she was about to speak, a phone rang, interrupting her.

Xi Yuehui glanced at his phone, then at Su Ruo before answering it.

“Hello…”

“Yeah, she’s here with me. Alright, send it over right away. Hehe.”

Xi Yuehui smiled at Su Ruo with an expression that was difficult to read. Su Ruo glared at him, then turned away, ignoring him.

At that moment, Su Ruo’s own phone rang. She took it out, saw the caller ID, and nearly dropped the phone in shock.

Xi Yuechen…

She immediately thought of the day Su Heng had played with his phone—he must have been the one who added the contact. She didn’t even have Xi Yuechen’s number! Su Ruo gritted her teeth in frustration.

Seeing her startled expression, Xi Yuehui leaned in mischievously and took a peek. He whistled. “Oh wow, my brother! Missing you already? And calling you so affectionately, too.”

Su Ruo shot him a glare, ignoring the curious looks from those around her. She quickly got up and walked into the hallway to answer the call.

“Hello…”
