Su Heng and the others waited for quite a while, but still there was no sign of Su Ruo.

“Why isn’t she here yet? Even if there’s traffic, it shouldn’t be this slow. A snail should’ve crawled over by now,” Su Heng frowned as he checked the time. Could something have happened?

“Call her and check,” Xi Yuehui also began to feel uneasy and suggested to Su Heng.

He Wen and Lu Yue, standing nearby, nodded in agreement.

“That’s strange. Why is her phone off?” Su Heng looked at his phone, confused. “It rang twice and then turned off. What’s going on?”

Hearing that, He Wen also pulled out his phone and tried calling Su Ruo.

“Still off,” He Wen said with a frown.

Meanwhile, Su Ruo had been forced into a car but quickly calmed herself, trying to steady her rapid breathing. She looked around the vehicle—besides the two men sitting directly across from her, there were two more in the front. All were unfamiliar faces, emotionless and silent.

Even if she were the slowest person alive, Su Ruo now understood—she had been kidnapped.

“Who are you? Where are you taking me?”

Her voice was calm and level, not betraying the slightest trace of fear, but the sweat-soaked palms she kept tightly clenched told a different story.

She’d never offended anyone in her life—so why were troublemakers coming at her one after another recently? She couldn’t help cursing internally: Damn it, what did I ever do to deserve this?!

As expected, her question was met with silence. She hadn’t expected an answer anyway; she was merely trying to speak to relieve her tension and fear.

She gritted her teeth and clenched her trembling hands even tighter. She forced herself not to dwell on who was behind the kidnapping—whoever it was would show themselves eventually.

Turning to look out the window, she tried to figure out where they were, but suddenly she caught a whiff of a strange odor. She frowned and was just about to investigate the source when a damp cloth was shoved over her nose and mouth. She instantly realized what it was.

Seriously? If you were going to knock me out, couldn’t you have done it earlier? She fumed, even as her consciousness faded. You made me sit here worrying for so long—what kind of unprofessional kidnappers are you?!

What Su Ruo didn’t know was that not long after she passed out, her phone rang—but after two rings, someone in the car turned it off.

By the time she woke up, who knew how much time had passed? She opened her eyes groggily, her head spinning. The amount of ethanol in that cloth—were they trying to kill her?

She was in a bedroom. The furnishings were rather decent, and her treatment wasn’t too bad either. She was lying on the bed—not tied up, not restrained in any way.

Do they underestimate me or just have too much confidence in themselves? Leaving me alone like this? Su Ruo wondered as she tried to adjust to her dizziness and fatigue.

Before she could even sit up, the door opened from the outside.

Hearing the sound, Su Ruo turned her head—and immediately felt her anger flare. All fear was instantly replaced by fury.

Him again?! Haven’t had enough yet? How long is he going to pester me?!

At this moment, Su Ruo truly regretted not listening to Wang Xuan—she should’ve told Su Heng and the others, or at the very least been more alert and cautious.

The person who walked in was none other than Hong Shirong.

“Well, you’re up already? You’re in good shape,” Hong Shirong said, eyeing her up and down as he walked toward the bed.

Su Ruo could sense something sinister in his smile—it sent chills down her spine. This guy is back for revenge.

Hong Shirong didn’t seem surprised by her guarded silence. He hadn’t expected her to say anything anyway. He sat down at the edge of the bed, taking his time to appraise her from head to toe.

Feeling his gaze, Su Ruo uneasily shifted her weak body slightly, trying to put some distance between them.

“Never thought this day would come, did you? I told you to behave, but you just had to get cocky with that kick,” Hong Shirong muttered like he was talking to himself.

But Su Ruo could clearly hear the gritted-teeth resentment in his tone, which only made her more nervous.

Hong Shirong hated her. After all, what man could remain calm after getting kicked like that? Luckily, he’d fully recovered after some time in the hospital, but he could never forget the excruciating pain and fear he felt that day. Ever since, Su Ruo had been stuck in his mind. He became obsessed with thoughts of revenge—how to get back at her, how to make her regret it.

At first, he’d planned to drag her off somewhere else to teach her a lesson. But when he saw her unconscious, his plans changed.

A mix of twisted pity and desire surged within him. He wanted to “have a taste” of her—then, once he got bored, he could deal with her however he liked.

Su Ruo turned her face away, refusing to even look at him. This shameless lunatic!

Seeing her avoidance, Hong Shirong’s anger flared. He grabbed a handful of her hair and yanked her head toward him. Watching the pain twist her expression gave him a sick sense of pleasure.

“Still trying to run? Where can you go now? Still dreaming about kicking me again? I’m telling you—today, you’re not escaping from me.”

Su Ruo winced from the pain. Staring at his twisted face, she fought to hold it in. She turned her eyes away, refusing to react. She knew if she said anything now, she might lose control. Who knew what a psycho like him might do if provoked?

Hong Shirong wasn’t in a rush. He let go of her hair, clapped his hands, and said slowly, “You stay here and rest. I’ve got some things to take care of. I’ll be back soon. Don’t even think about running—you won’t get far. Be good and wait here.”

He chuckled twice, clearly in high spirits. How could he not be, when the woman he’d been dreaming about was now lying in his bed?

Su Ruo watched coldly as he strolled out humming to himself. She wished she could kick him again—how she regretted not crippling him the last time.

After leaving, Hong Shirong gave instructions to the two men standing guard outside: just keep her locked in; don’t interfere otherwise.

He had just been discharged from the hospital yesterday. Only he knew what kind of hell he’d endured during those days. When he was first admitted, his family rushed over in a panic. His injuries were no joke—they could affect his future marriage and ability to have children. But once it was clear he was out of danger, his father started scolding him non-stop, interrogating him for two full days in the hospital room.

How could he tell them the truth? Tell his father he got injured because of a woman? That he was kicked there? His father, who had disapproved of him since childhood, might’ve broken his legs himself.

During his hospital stay, Hong Shirong obsessed over Su Ruo—hatred mixed with obsession. He vowed to catch her and make her regret it.

As soon as he was discharged, he had people tail her. When they saw an opportunity, they grabbed her and brought her to his private villa.

Hong Shirong, a textbook spoiled rich kid, had always kept a few cronies around him as his personal errand boys. They were capable and discreet, which made him quite pleased. This time was no different—they’d quickly and efficiently kidnapped Su Ruo.
