By the time Su Ruo arrived, Yang Yu and several managers had already been taken away.
He Wen and Lu Yue had also rushed over—not surprising, given how chaotic things had been just now and how many people had witnessed it.
Su Ruo frowned as she looked at the mess in the bar on the second floor and asked one of the servers who was cleaning up the aftermath, “What on earth happened here? Tell me everything, in detail.”
Mu You involved in drug trafficking? What kind of sick joke was that?
The server, still tidying up, was momentarily stunned by the presence of such a striking and assertive woman. It wasn’t unusual—how could someone like him know that Su Ruo was the big boss behind Mu You? At that moment, one of the senior executives at Mu You spotted Su Ruo and hurried over.
“Boss.” He knew who Su Ruo was.
“Alright, tell me what happened,” Su Ruo asked, forcing a smile.
“Who the hell is blind enough to pull something like this? Coming here to stir up trouble—they’d better watch out or I’ll ruin them,” Lu Yue said angrily. After all this time, this was the first incident of its kind. Setting aside Su Ruo’s relationship with the place, this bar was practically their headquarters—it was no wonder he was furious.
He Wen’s face didn’t look any better, though he kept quiet, standing silently behind Su Ruo.
“Enough. Let’s not talk here. Upstairs,” Su Ruo said, not wanting to get into details on the spot.
Only then did the server cleaning up realize what was going on. He crouched in silence, thinking to himself—So this is the mysterious, well-connected boss behind everything?
Isn’t she that rich girl who always comes here to hang out?!
After silently complaining to himself, he returned to his work without a word. Let the rich girl do whatever she wants—he was just a lowly employee. As long as he got paid, he was good…
Once Su Ruo and her group were inside a private room on the fourth floor, they finally began to talk.
Lu Yue was still furious and itching to find the mastermind behind all this so he could give them a proper lesson. Who had the guts to come here and cause trouble?
But one glance at Su Ruo’s emotionless face made him rein in his temper. He couldn’t bring himself to vent any further.
The man left behind to keep order was Zhang Ye, someone Yang Yu trusted and considered a close aide. He carefully recounted everything that had just happened. By the end, his tone turned heated—it was clearly a setup, an attempt to frame Mu You. They’d never been on the receiving end of something like this before.
After hearing it all, Su Ruo couldn’t help but let out a laugh. She hadn’t offended anyone lately, had she? Why would someone go to such lengths to take her down?
“Ruoruo, what do we do now?” He Wen asked, frowning.
“What else can we do? Of course we go to the police station. Since something like this happened at Mu You, we have to follow legal procedures. No exceptions!” She paused, then added, “Oh, and He Wen, Lu Yue—only the two of you should know about this for now. Don’t tell anyone else. No need to make them worry.”
“How can that be okay? Those bastards are clearly bullying you! We should call everyone here—I don’t believe we can’t root out the mastermind behind this!” Lu Yue said angrily, unable to swallow the injustice.
“I’ll handle it myself for now. If we show up in force, it’ll look like we’re ganging up on them,” Su Ruo replied.
After the initial anger had passed, Su Ruo had calmed down considerably. Using such a dirty trick to try and deal with her? She’d seen plenty of that in her past life. Was she supposed to be afraid of this? If someone wanted to mess with her, they’d better first consider whether they had the ability to pull it off.
Still, she was curious—who had so much free time on their hands? She barely stepped outside these days, and Mu You had always kept a low profile and never stirred up trouble. Of course, that didn’t mean they weren’t the subject of some mysterious rumors. But who would go out of their way to target Mu You? She truly couldn’t think of anyone.
“Ruoruo, even if you don’t tell them, everyone’s going to find out by tonight anyway. Our circle isn’t that big. News like this spreads in no time—what’s the point of keeping it a secret? It just makes us seem distant,” He Wen said gently as he stepped forward.
“That’s not what I meant. I just think that even though we all grew up together and are close friends who share our fortunes and misfortunes, there’s no need to mobilize everyone over something so minor. I’ll check it out myself first. If I can resolve it, great. But if I really hit a wall, do you think I’d leave you all out of it and try to shoulder it alone?” Su Ruo said with a smile.
Hearing her speak so casually, as if the whole thing was no big deal, He Wen relaxed a bit. That’s right—let Ruoruo handle it. Their current hands-off approach didn’t mean they were letting the matter go. There would be plenty of opportunities later. It was good to let Ruoruo sharpen her skills a bit. After all, as the boss of Mu You, she couldn’t be simple.
Seeing that He Wen wasn’t going to say anything more, Lu Yue thought for a moment and then fell silent too, his expression thoughtful.
They didn’t stay long at Mu You before heading out to the police station where Yang Yu and the others had been taken. It wasn’t long before they arrived.
As soon as they stepped inside, Su Ruo couldn’t help but laugh. So many people just loitering in the lobby instead of working—were they all here to watch her make a fool of herself?
“My, your station must be very peaceful if you’ve got this much free time. Truly a sign of national prosperity and social harmony! You’ve even branched out across jurisdictions—such patriotism, I’m in awe,” Su Ruo said loudly upon entering.
But there was no admiration in her tone—only blatant sarcasm. Mu You wasn’t even within their jurisdiction, and yet they’d been so eager to meddle, like dogs chasing mice.
The people inside all heard the barbs in her voice, and their expressions shifted subtly.
“Ahem, the young lady flatters us. And you are…?” one man, seemingly the leader, stepped forward and asked.
At that, Lu Yue couldn’t help but laugh dismissively. “Maybe do your homework before handling a case. Wrongful arrests aren’t usually this sloppy. You’ve already hauled our people in, and now that the boss has come to get them, you suddenly don’t recognize her?”
The officers’ expressions changed slightly as realization dawned. They quickly composed themselves and stepped forward.
“So you’re the boss of Mu You, I see. Forgive us for not receiving you properly. But we’d heard the boss of Mu You was mysterious—always in the shadows. We never expected someone so young and beautiful. Quite a surprise. The younger generation is truly impressive, haha.”
Though his words sounded complimentary, everyone could hear the condescension beneath them. It was the smug tone of someone who finally felt at ease after realizing the so-called “mysterious boss” was just a pretty girl.
It was understandable. Mu You had been operating freely in the capital, and rumors swirled about the powerful figure behind it. Many believed the business was a plaything of some high-ranking official. No one imagined the boss would be such a young, beautiful woman—anyone would be shocked.
But this so-called “leader,” now relaxed enough to make jokes, never considered that the young woman in front of him might actually be the daughter of someone truly powerful.
It seemed Su Ruo had made the right choice—though the man in question was newly influential, who could predict how far he might rise? Take this incident, for example. Could this inexperienced girl really outmatch that man’s precious son? The rumors surrounding Mu You… who knew if they weren’t started by Su Ruo herself, trying to secure a foothold in Beijing by manufacturing mystique? Maybe she was just waiting for a chance to pledge allegiance to someone and ride their coattails to success.
Talk about fate—this small-time officer clearly lacked the vision to see it. Precisely because Su Ruo was a young woman, it was all the more likely that she had serious backing. Otherwise, how could she have built Mu You into an industry giant in the capital?
In the end, this officer had seriously misjudged the situation. “Blind to the obvious” was putting it mildly.
