When Su Ruo entered the classroom with Su Heng and Yu Lianyun, it was still early, and only a few students were around. She picked a seat near the front and sat down.
Following her lead, Su Heng and Yu Lianyun also sat down—and both realized at the same time that they had never sat this close to the front before in their lives…
The students who trickled in afterward were clearly fascinated by Su Ruo. When did the school get such a gorgeous girl?
Since most people recognized Su Heng and Yu Lianyun—both well-known figures on campus—they naturally assumed she must be one of their girlfriends. You couldn’t blame them; Su Ruo looked so young, especially dressed up with energy and style. She could easily pass for a college student herself.
After pestering Su Heng to borrow a textbook, Su Ruo buried herself in it, completely ignoring the stir she had caused.
Su Heng could only sigh helplessly. Is she possessed or something? From the moment the professor walked in, she was laser-focused on the lecture, scribbling notes at lightning speed, and—worse—kept bombarding the professor with endless questions the moment she found a topic that intrigued her.
The professor, trying his best to stay patient, ended up spending nearly half the class answering her questions. Sure, enthusiasm is great, he thought, but there are limits, you know? You’re distracting the rest of the class here…
“Su Heng, is this young lady your friend? Such diligence! Everyone should learn from her. Ahem, she’s your girlfriend, right? I can tell—you two look like a perfect couple!” the professor teased with a chuckle.
“Pfft—hahaha!” Yu Lianyun couldn’t hold back his laughter.
Su Heng shot him a glare, then looked at Su Ruo, who just smiled without the slightest intention of correcting the professor. He huffed in frustration.
“She’s my sister!” Su Heng declared loudly enough for the entire classroom to hear.
Well, that did it. What had been one person laughing turned into the whole class bursting into laughter. Laugh, laugh, laugh—what’s so funny?! Su Heng fumed silently.
“Oh, is that so? I thought there was a resemblance, hehe. Alright then, that’s it for today. Class dismissed!” the professor said smoothly, adjusting his glasses as if nothing had happened and walking off, leaving a classroom full of laughter behind.
“Well, guess that means I still look pretty young. I mean, people are calling us a ‘golden couple’!” Su Ruo joked playfully.
Su Heng turned away with a scowl. “You can look young all you want, but you’re still an older woman. What’s there to gloat about?”
Ignoring him, Su Ruo started tidying up her slightly messy notes. “By the way, Su Heng, do you need this book back?”
Seeing her obvious unwillingness to return it, he scoffed, “Nah, who reads elective course textbooks anyway? Keep it. Wasn’t mine to begin with.”
Even more reason you should return it, Su Ruo thought with a roll of her eyes, glancing at him fiddling with his phone.
“Alright then, I won’t feel guilty. So, you guys don’t have class now? What are you up to?”
Just as Su Heng was about to say he’d walk around with her, Yu Lianyun leaned in, “Hey, Heng, the student council’s meeting this afternoon. Mandatory attendance. President’s orders.”
Su Heng frowned, ready to refuse, but Su Ruo cut in, “If you’ve got stuff to do, go. Don’t waste time. I’ll just wander a bit and head back.”
Wasting time, huh… So much for good intentions, Su Heng sighed internally, Guess it’s true what they say—no good deed goes unpunished.
“Fine then. I’m off to do important things. Do whatever you want, but don’t run off too far or come home too late. Your husband will worry.”
“Get lost and go to your meeting,” Su Ruo snapped.
But she couldn’t help grumbling inwardly—Worry about me? Yeah right. I haven’t seen even a shadow of him. Probably doesn’t even know where I am, hidden away in some remote mountain or forest.
Lost in thought, Su Ruo didn’t notice someone walking toward her and accidentally bumped right into them. Her books and notes scattered all over the ground.
“I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” she quickly apologized to the person she had bumped into.
The one she collided with was a notorious playboy from A University, known for his arrogance and connections (his family owned a small business). He often threw his weight around, though he had the sense to avoid messing with kids from powerful families.
Irritated, he was just about to curse when he heard Su Ruo’s sweet, clear voice—and was instantly intrigued. Whoa. When did our school get someone this hot? I’ve never seen her before.
Su Ruo noticed the guy staring and frowned. She bent down to pick up her books, choosing to ignore him.
“Hey, let me help you,” he offered, beating her to the books. “You’re new here, right? Must be a freshman. So pretty!”
He looked over to his two sidekicks nearby. “Am I right?”
“Totally!” one of them chimed in. “She’s gotta be the school beauty. Perfect match for you, Rong-ge!”
Su Ruo’s frown deepened. “Give me my books back,” she said coldly.
Instead of listening, the guy smirked and said, “What’s your name, little cutie? Give me your number. I’ll look out for you—no one’ll dare mess with you while I’m around.”
“Yeah, totally!” his lackeys echoed. “You’ll be living the good life. Do whatever you want!”
This was Su Ruo’s first encounter with such blatant harassment, and she was livid. She snatched her books and notebook back from him and stormed off without a word.
“Hey! Why you in such a rush? We’re not done talking—hey!” he called after her. “Fiery, huh? I like that. Got some spice to her.”
“Yeah, Rong-ge, the spicier they are, the more fun to chase! You’ll get her for sure!” his cronies cheered him on.
Su Ruo almost twisted her ankle from how hard she rolled her eyes.
Later, sitting in her car, she thought back on what had just happened. She was so mad she laughed out loud. Seriously? They tried to hit on me? How does A University even allow people like that in?
She glanced at the book in her hands and sighed. Well, despite the annoying end, I did get something out of it. Some of the things she hadn’t understood before made sense after asking the professor.
Looks like I should audit more classes in the future, she thought. I’ve got the time, after all.
With that, she decided to head over to the military compound to visit her family. Eating alone didn’t sound appealing, and there was no point sitting around doing nothing.
