Si Qiu was deeply moved. She climbed up in his arms, hugged him face-to-face, and kissed him back.
“Who are you to me? You’re my beloved, my future husband, the future father of my children. Elias, you will be a part of my life.”
Originally, hearing Si Qiu’s confession made Elias very happy. Perhaps it was in the nature of Chinese people—Si Qiu had always been shy about saying intimate things.
She had never expressed her love to him so directly before.
Now that these words came from her, they felt all the more precious. His heart warmed, and he couldn’t help but imagine their future together based on what she said.
But the more he listened, the more something felt off. Yes, he was her lover, her future husband, and he would become the most important part of her life.
But the father of her children? What kind of idea was that?
Did his tainted bloodline really need to be passed on? Besides, Si Qiu’s frame was so small—having children would only make her suffer more.
And once a child was born, it would take up so much of her time and affection. Hah—he’d have to be crazy to want a child.
Still, when he lowered his head and saw the dreamy look in the girl’s eyes, he decided not to bring it up for now. In the future, he would slowly explain the pros and cons to her, and make her give up this “terrifying” idea.
But when his gaze shifted to Si Qiu’s stomach, another thought suddenly struck him. Their recent bedroom life had been quite… harmonious, and they hadn’t taken any precautions.
Then…
No, no—he had to find a way to prevent that from happening.
“Since we’re going back this time, I’ll probably be staying in the country for quite a long while. There are a lot of things I need to bring back.”
Si Qiu was a bit excited now, unable to sit still, always wanting to find something to do.
Hearing that she didn’t intend to stay in the country permanently and stop coming back, Elias felt quite relieved. His efforts over this period hadn’t been in vain.
“Take whatever you like. If it’s troublesome to bring back, we can just buy new ones after we return. With me around, you won’t be wronged.”
Si Qiu knew he was wealthy, but after thinking about it, she still decided to bring more of her personal belongings. After all, she wouldn’t just be staying for a few days.
Leaving these things here would just waste them. With Elias’s temperament, the next time she came back, everything would probably be cleared out and replaced with new ones.
Although her mother had made money later on, she had never been so wasteful. Every time Si Qiu saw it, she felt a bit heartbroken.
Watching Si Qiu move around the walk-in closet, she finally took out a box of hair accessories and set it aside. Elias picked it up and neatly tucked it into a corner of the suitcase.
He patiently helped her pack. He had never done this for anyone before—even when he traveled, everything was handled for him. But now that he was doing it himself, he found joy in it.
By the time they finished dinner, Si Qiu had thought he would coax and trick her into going back to the bedroom again. But unexpectedly, he said he had work to do. He didn’t even let her follow him to the study. Instead, he set up her laptop and tablet for her.
“Qiuqiu, play here for a while. If you get bored, have the butler find someone to play mahjong with you. I might be busy with work today. If you get sleepy, go ahead and rest.”
Si Qiu nodded lightly in agreement, but the confusion in her eyes was obvious. Elias didn’t explain, only gently ruffling her hair.
“Be good, baby. I need to finish my work before I can make time to accompany you back to the country.”
Watching him leave, she remained puzzled—why didn’t he let her follow him to work this time?
After thinking it over, Si Qiu decided to look for Freya. Having a stunning beauty to keep her company was definitely better than dealing with those housekeeper types, right?
Strangely, her message didn’t get a reply. Freya usually responded instantly every time.
At that very moment, however, Freya had her hands and feet tied, a cloth stuffed in her mouth as she was thrown onto a boat. Watching her struggle, Theodore tried to persuade her patiently.
“Better stay quiet. You’ll suffer less that way. If I don’t get you out within the allotted time, I’ll die a far worse death than you.”
After much effort, Freya finally pushed the cloth out of her mouth and unleashed a string of curses. Still, she quieted down in the end—at least until they reached the larger ship.
Once there, she got her restraints removed, climbed aboard, and raised her middle finger toward the island. Then, with a twist of her waist and a flip of her hair, she directly started commanding the ship to set off.
“Damn it, I’ve never been afraid of anything.”
Si Qiu waited for a while but still got no reply. Poking her head around, she saw Steward Zhou tidying up the mess she had made earlier.
So she picked up her phone and walked out, heading straight for the sightseeing cart parked in the open area. Lately she had been strictly supervised—unless she was with Elias, she was never allowed to touch it.
People are like that—the more something is forbidden, the more they want to try it.
She used to be interested in shooting, but after Elias took her to the armory a few times, she lost interest. The recoil was strong, the noise was loud, and the thing itself was heavy—it felt more like manual labor than fun.
Driving, on the other hand, was different. The sightseeing cart was quiet, so the steward didn’t hear anything. The others didn’t know what was going on either, so no one stopped her.
Still, after not driving for a few days, she felt rusty. The cart wobbled onto the road, the steering wheel seeming to fight her, jerking wildly out of control.
And just like that, the phone beside her was flung off and crushed.
Si Qiu stared at the broken phone in silence for a moment, then calmly picked it up and set it aside before getting back in the cart. She wasn’t short of phones anyway.
The vehicle didn’t follow any proper route. After a few random turns, it ended up outside the medical room, brightly lit, with security guards chatting at the entrance.
“I saw sir go in. Do you think Miss Si Qiu is sick?” one of them said.
Another burly Black man lowered his head to light a cigarette. “Miss Si Qiu is way too delicate. I don’t think sir can take proper care of her.”
“Hey, hey, shut it! If sir hears you, you’ll be swimming in the crocodile pit.”
Si Qiu didn’t pay attention to much else—only that Elias was here. She wanted to call and ask him, but her phone had already been crushed.
So she parked the cart and decided to go check in person.
On the island, no one would stop her no matter where she went. Besides, the medical room wasn’t exactly a restricted area.
The two men who had been chatting even greeted her and, guessing she might be looking for Elias, pointed her in the general direction.
With a simple greeting and a few foreign words—which she could now understand—plus their obvious gestures, Si Qiu followed the route they indicated.
She had been to the medical room twice before, so she was somewhat familiar with it. But the further she walked, the more something felt off.
This should be the operating room area.
Why would Elias be here? Was one of his subordinates injured?
Or was it him?
That couldn’t be right… When he left her, she hadn’t seen any injuries on him at all.
