She bit hard on the side of his neck. “Pervert.”
He could actually say something so shameless so matter-of-factly.
Elias let out a muffled groan, his voice turning hoarse. “Baby, a little harder.”
Su Qiu quickly loosened her bite and lay limp in his arms, pretending to be dead. This man had way too much energy—she couldn’t handle him, couldn’t handle him.
But he didn’t let her off. He leaned close to her ear and said softly, “I’ve noticed something—Baby’s recovery ability is really strong.”
“That’s obvious,” she replied. In this life she had been nourished with plenty of top-grade medicines, not to mention her previous cultivation.
If only this world had more spiritual energy, she could definitely… do it every night… Forget it, better not say that. It was easy to get censored.
“So that means, Baby, you’ll be able to handle more and more every day.”
Feeling Su Qiu’s body stiffen, Elias chuckled softly and gently patted her back with his other hand.
Elias treated her like a little accessory. When he handled work, he would place a lounge chair or recliner beside him so she could lie there playing games.
Whenever he had free time, he would take her along—teaching her horse riding, driving yachts, flying planes, shooting, and hand-to-hand combat.
They also picked out beautiful clothes and jewelry together. “You said before that wearing too many accessories is inconvenient, but I’ve noticed you always wear this bracelet.”
Su Qiu sat in his lap, completely enclosed in his arms. While speaking, he gently fiddled with the bracelet that had already lost some of its shine.
She followed his gaze downward and touched the inside of the bracelet, tracing the engraved words.
“Yes. This is the silver bracelet my mother bought me with her first earnings. It has the words ‘joy and peace’ engraved on it. She said she was willing to trade anything she had just to have these four words on me.”
Elias kissed the top of her head. “Are you thinking about your mother, my Su Qiu?”
She nodded, then turned around. Holding his face with both hands, she looked at him seriously.
“In a while it will be my mother’s seventh day memorial. I want to go see her… and see her off for the last time.”
As she said this, tears rolled down her cheeks.
Elias pulled her into his arms, and she began to sob.
Since waking up and finding herself on the ship, Su Qiu had secretly cried before. But when she saw the dead bodies in the cabin, she had forced her tears back.
She remembered her mother’s words—to be strong, to live bravely. Only by living could there be a future.
When Elias rescued her, she already knew what kind of price her appearance might demand. But still, her mother had wanted her to live.
Elias held her trembling body tightly. Listening to her sobs squeezed out from her throat, he—who had already become numb and indifferent—suddenly felt as if his internal organs were being twisted painfully.
He realized something clearly: he couldn’t stand seeing her sad.
“Don’t cry, baby. I’ll take you back. I’ve already contacted them, but they haven’t replied yet. Don’t worry, I’ll push things forward. We will definitely make it back before the seventh-day memorial.”
Si Qiu’s mood was low because of her mother’s situation, and she looked completely drained. Elias truly felt sorry for her and held her in his arms while they sat curled up on the sofa.
“I’ve already sent people over in advance, and I’ve also contacted a local official there. We’ll make sure your mother’s matters are properly handled.”
Si Qiu lifted her face, her eyes red-rimmed as she looked at him. “It doesn’t need to be too grand, but all the proper formalities must be observed.”
Elias kissed the corner of her reddened eye. “Alright, I’ll listen to you. I’ll make sure everything is handled properly.”
In fact, he could have sent Si Qiu back right away, but entering China wasn’t so simple for him. He selfishly didn’t want to let her return alone.
So he needed official approval. Fortunately, he had enough leverage to negotiate with, and he believed the response would come soon.
As expected, things went just as he predicted. Fang Yiming, after leaving the island, received detailed intelligence from Elias’s subordinates regarding the escaped telecom fraud suspects.
He quickly contacted domestic authorities, verifying Si Qiu’s mother’s situation on one hand, and organizing personnel on the other to investigate and repatriate those fugitives.
Elias’s people fully cooperated as well. After all, he had deep weapons-related collaborations with governments and mercenary groups across various countries, and his network was extensive.
Capturing these telecom fraud criminals wasn’t difficult. If normal channels didn’t work, they didn’t mind using unconventional methods. They could even deliver them directly.
With their full cooperation, the domestic side responded quickly. Elias was granted permission to enter the country, though the number of people he could bring and all weapons he carried had to be officially declared.
Additionally, during his entire stay in the country, he would need to be accompanied and protected by official personnel.
Elias quickly shared this good news with Si Qiu. It finally felt like the sun had broken through the clouds. Si Qiu’s eyes lit up the moment she heard it.
She became like a joyful little bird, running around the room. “Elias, I want to bring those two cheongsams back! I haven’t even worn them yet. I need to bring more hair ties too—my hair is getting so long!”
Elias watched her busy figure with a smile. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help her, but keeping her occupied would help shift her attention.
“What about your little socks? It’ll probably get colder once school starts there.”
His words made Si Qiu pause. She suddenly turned to look at the man leaning against the doorframe, his shirt unbuttoned, standing there casually and effortlessly handsome.
Her lips trembled slightly. After a long moment, she finally forced out a voice from her throat.
“You… you want me to go back and continue my studies?”
Si Qiu was a little clumsy, but she wasn’t stupid. She knew she was beautiful, and Elias had some affection for her—but precisely because of that, she thought he might keep her by his side.
Maybe for a few years. Maybe for her whole life. She had even thought her ending might not be a good one.
But she had never given up. Her mother had told her that as long as you’re alive, there is always hope. Just like when she left that man—after enduring those dark days, life eventually opened up again.
She had thought that if Elias eventually got tired of her, he might let her go, and then she would be free to live her own life.
But she had never dared to hope that Elias would actually respect her wishes like a normal boyfriend in a relationship.
Elias stepped forward, picked her up, and sat down with her on a dressing room stool. He idly played with her soft, boneless fingers.
“Yes. I want you to finish your studies. Didn’t you always say Miss Si wanted you to get a university diploma and live a stable life inheriting her assets?”
He couldn’t help but bring her hand to his lips and kiss it lightly.
“Who am I to you, hmm? I’m your lover. In the future, I’ll be the one spending my life with you. How could I possibly ignore your wishes and thoughts?”
