The car was parked right in front of the company entrance. When Tang Chaoyun saw Si Qiu walk out from the lobby, the headlights flashed twice. He got out and quickly walked to the passenger side to open the door for her.
Si Qiu got into the front seat. Tang Chaoyun returned to the driver’s seat and started the car. He was deliberately trying to liven up the mood, talking far more than the original host’s memory of him suggested.
Since Si Qiu had left work early today and wasn’t too tired, she was in the mood to chat. This man had grown up with elite education—high emotional intelligence, high IQ, and extensive experience after taking over the family business.
As long as he wanted to engage in conversation, it was actually quite pleasant.
After arriving at the club, he deliberately bent his arm slightly, signaling for Si Qiu to hold onto him.
She didn’t insist otherwise. Her hand lightly rested on his arm, and the two of them stood very close. The faint scent that lingered in the car became even stronger now.
Tang Chaoyun couldn’t help but look down at her. She had completely shed the gentleness and fragility from before. Now she looked like a fully bloomed camellia—so striking that people couldn’t help but linger on her, unwilling to miss even a moment of that beauty.
The private room door looked wide and heavy. The waiter standing at the entrance pushed it open casually when he saw them.
The noise inside spilled out through the doorway.
“Why isn’t Brother Tang here yet?” a lazy male voice sounded.
“He said he went to pick up his wife,” another voice replied, equally relaxed.
Both voices were familiar to the original host—so familiar that hearing them triggered an instinctive tension.
Because of that conditioned reaction, Si Qiu’s brows slightly furrowed.
Tang Chaoyun noticed immediately and gently patted the hand that was holding his arm.
Then he pushed the door open wider and led her in.
“What’s this? I go pick up my wife and you’ve got a problem with that?”
Inside were already four or five people. When they saw the two of them enter, they all stood up.
“How could we dare, Brother Tang? We just haven’t seen Sister-in-law in a long time, so we were curious and said a couple of things.”
Tang Chaoyun arranged for Si Qiu to sit beside him, then casually warmed a cup and filled it with tea for her. While doing all this, he didn’t even look up as he replied.
“Your sister-in-law is not someone you can just say you want to see.”
These people were close friends, so they knew about his previous marriage situation. But his current attitude clearly showed he was standing up for his wife.
They immediately changed their tone.
“Look at us, look at us—we really lacked sense just now.”
“Sister-in-law, hello. I don’t know if you remember me. I’m Tao Yi.”
“Sister-in-law, and me, I’m Qian Ruifeng.”
The other three also introduced themselves. Except for Gu Qu, the rest were familiar faces from the same circle, though they hadn’t interacted much before.
Si Qiu, however, felt a bit confused about his purpose in bringing her here.
Tang Chaoyun leaned back in his chair and took Si Qiu’s hand.
With a smile, he looked at everyone.
“Today I brought her here to formally reintroduce your sister-in-law—Si Qiu.”
He didn’t wait for their response and continued.
“As you probably know, your sister-in-law runs an entertainment company, and it doesn’t overlap with Tang Corporation’s business. I can’t really help her much.”
“So I thought, since you all have either resources or connections in this field, I’d set up this gathering so that if she runs into anything in the future, you might be able to lend a hand.”
He picked up the red wine glass on the table.
“Thanks in advance, brothers.”
With that, he downed the glass in one go.
Only then did Si Qiu understand—he had brought her here to introduce her to his network.
Naturally, she couldn’t refuse such a good opportunity. She also picked up the red wine glass beside her and raised it in thanks to everyone present.
It was just that before the red wine reached her lips, it was intercepted. Tang Chaoyun’s voice was gentle, carrying a hint of indulgence.
“Aren’t you the one who dislikes the taste of alcohol? There are no outsiders here. If you don’t like it, don’t drink.”
Naturally, Si Qiu wouldn’t embarrass him at a moment like this. She gave a shy smile. “That would be too embarrassing. I’ll still need everyone’s support and help in the future!”
“Ah, sis-in-law, what are you saying? Taking care of you is only right. After all, Cousin has helped us a lot too.”
Tang Chaoyun took the glass from her hand. “In that case, I’ll drink it for you.”
He raised the glass in a toast toward the others, then drank it in one go.
The group immediately applauded. “Brother Tang is generous!”
“Oh wow, Brother Tang really dotes on his wife. Are you putting on a show for us?”
The meal continued lively and cheerful, not a single word was mentioned about the past. In fact, several cooperation proposals were brought up on the spot.
Si Qiu glanced sideways at the man sitting there, casually playing with a lighter in his hand. Everyone was clearly flattering her because of him.
Was he showing off his ability to her?
If so, what was the purpose of doing this?
Whether it was Si Qiu or the original host, neither had ever denied his capability or the wealth and power of the Tang Group. But when there was meat on the table, one should still take a bite—otherwise, how could anything grow or expand?
Seeing that the time was about right, Tang Chaoyun prepared to leave with Si Qiu. Naturally, the others tried to keep them.
“Brother Tang, why are you in such a hurry? The night has only just begun.”
“Exactly! Sis-in-law probably hasn’t been here much. Brother Tang should take her around and have some fun. There are quite a few activities here.”
Tang Chaoyun stood up and waved his hand. He was tall and upright, his features calm and steady, his aura restrained yet commanding. His tone was gentle but left no room for argument.
“You all know my wife is very busy lately. There’s still a child waiting at home—we should head back early.”
Zheng Ruifeng quickly smiled and said, “That’s right. Brother Tang is all about wife-and-kid life now. Don’t you people delay Brother Tang’s happiness.”
Hearing this, Tang Chaoyun’s expression softened instantly. He took Si Qiu’s hand, waved to the group, and left.
Zheng Ruifeng quickly followed behind them, saying he would see them off.
Tao Yi reached out as if to stop him but didn’t manage to, so he gave up and instead turned back to continue chatting after the door closed.
“What do you think—has Brother Tang settled down, or has he been completely tied down by Si Qiu?”
A young man with a baby face took a sip of wine and said, “Maybe! I didn’t know her before, but after tonight’s dinner, I have to say I’ve been impressed by Mrs. Tang.”
Another nodded. “She’s someone with vision and talent. Working with her isn’t just ‘taking care of her’—it’s a win-win.”
Gu Qu lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, then exhaled slowly. “Aren’t you all overestimating her too much?”
“Our great CEO Tang is probably just tired of a life of luxury and wants to experience some family warmth.”
“As for settling down—don’t even joke. I’ve seen dogs eat shit again, cats go back to fish, but I’ve never seen a man truly settle down.”
The others also felt what he said made sense.
Meanwhile, outside, Zheng Ruifeng jogged a couple of steps to catch up with the couple. Tang Chaoyun looked at him in surprise. The young man scratched his head, then slipped past him and leaned toward Si Qiu.
