“But if I don’t go out now, our losses will be quite significant!” Wei Chenguang said worriedly.

Zhang Jiaohua replied, “Don’t worry. Just watch!”

Suddenly, a squad of cultivators appeared, each holding strange-looking weapons. Some resembled modern firearms, but they looked even more powerful and menacing.

Kong Fangzhou also pulled out a weapon from who-knows-where. It looked like an anti-tank sniper rifle, only with a thicker barrel and larger caliber, though the barrel was slightly shorter for easier maneuverability. The weight of this weapon would likely be too much for an ordinary person, but for a cultivator, it was nothing.

Kong Fangzhou led six people, each armed with one of these massive weapons.

Despite their strange appearance, these weapons were incredibly powerful. When a super soldier lunged at Kong Fangzhou, he merely lifted the barrel slightly—no need to aim at such close range.

“Boom!” A fierce blast of fire erupted from the barrel. But what shot out wasn’t a regular bullet—it was a refined iron projectile, crafted using artifact-refining techniques. The projectile had an engraved spirit array that activated upon impact, transforming the bullet into an explosive that tore the enemy to shreds.

These super soldiers had been genetically enhanced—bones and muscles like wild beasts, if not more powerful. Their armor was a high-tech product with extreme defensive capabilities, which had caught Wei Chenguang off guard and led to heavy losses among lower-level Meishan Sect disciples.

But against this weapon—an integration of modern technology and cultivation techniques—the armor might as well have been paper. The projectile tore through it, drilled into the body, and detonated with a loud explosion. The super soldier, once fearsome, was reduced to pieces in an instant.

“It’s our turn now. We’ve located the man behind all this. Let’s move quickly—if they play their final card, things could get ugly,” Zhang Jiaohua suddenly said.

He hadn’t been idle during the battle. Earlier, he had already released several hundred trained spirit beasts—mountain dogs, black cats, and rhesus monkeys—to cover a ten-kilometer radius. These creatures, raised in the cultivation realm, had intelligence comparable to humans and could communicate with Zhang Jiaohua telepathically.

From the time he left Qing University, he had these spirit beasts scouting the route to the hotel. Finally, they uncovered the commander lurking in the shadows.

This commander was completely separate from the super soldiers and communicated with them via wireless equipment. This had made it hard for the spirit beasts to locate him at first. However, once their aerial surveillance was wiped out, he had to resort to more overt command methods, which gave the beasts their opening.

His command center was located in an inconspicuous courtyard along the road—so unremarkable that the spirit beasts nearly missed it during their search.

Wei Chenguang looked at Zhang Jiaohua in shock. He hadn’t seen Zhang Jiaohua make a single call or contact anyone, yet he’d somehow found the enemy commander. But he didn’t ask further—after all, it was only natural for the sect master to have some hidden aces up his sleeve.

“Shall we have Kong Fangzhou bring some men along?” Wei Chenguang asked as he got out of the car with Zhang Jiaohua.

Zhang Jiaohua shook his head. “That commander is actually easier to deal with.”

Wei Chenguang understood. The commander was probably just a civilian officer, likely weaker than the soldiers under his command.

Zhang Jiaohua moved quickly, and though a cultivator, Wei Chenguang could only barely keep pace.

“They still have one last card to play. We need to move fast, or it could get troublesome,” Zhang Jiaohua warned.

The commander was none other than Azir. He had no personal guards, and Baron was his only link to the super soldiers. But today’s operation had gone off track—first, their aerial team was wiped out, and then the super soldiers began to fall rapidly.

Azir’s entire plan was falling apart, but he still refused to admit defeat. He intended to go all in with one last gamble.

“Azir, must we really go this far?” Baron, clearly not eager to die, asked nervously.

“Yes. Zhang Jiaohua is far too dangerous. If we can’t bring him Baron, we must destroy him,” Azir replied with a cold smile, pulling out a phone.

Just as he was about to make a call, a shadow leapt at him from behind—a black cat.

Azir reacted swiftly, dodging the attack and moving aside. For a moment, he even felt pleased with himself for his quick reflexes.

“Ahhh!” Azir suddenly screamed in agony. His phone dropped to the ground with a smack.

A mountain dog had clamped down on his hand, its sharp fangs piercing into his wrist and cracking through the bones.

Crunch! Azir’s wrist was completely shattered by the bite.

Baron tried to draw his gun to retaliate against the sudden wave of beasts, still not understanding what was happening. But before he could act, he met the same fate as Azir.

The courtyard gates suddenly burst open and crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Zhang Jiaohua and Wei Chenguang stepped inside.

“I suggest you tell me everything—including your last trump card,” Zhang Jiaohua said as he slapped Azir awake.

Azir managed a ferocious smile. “Come on! Give me a quick death. With so many going down with me, I’d say I died a glorious death.”

Zhang Jiaohua smiled. “If I found you, why wouldn’t I find your trump card? And no, I won’t let you die so easily. You and I—we’re like hunter and prey. And the hunter always enjoys the feast after the kill.”

“You’ll never find them! If they can’t reach me within 30 minutes, they’ll level this place to the ground,” Azir warned.

“Don’t worry—you’ll hear from them soon. I’ll let you live until then,” Zhang Jiaohua said calmly, knocking Azir unconscious.

He turned to Baron. “And what about you? Are you planning to follow the same path?”

Baron was clearly terrified and babbled, “I’m your prisoner now. You should treat me according to international convention!”

“You still don’t get it, do you? I’m not a government agent. I represent only myself. And since you tried to take my life—you’ll suffer the consequences,” Zhang Jiaohua replied with a chilling smile.

He gave a glance to the mountain dog beside him, and the beast instantly leapt forward and bit off one of Baron’s feet. Baron howled in agony.
