Zhang Jiaohua’s sedan came to a stop. Just as he was about to get out, Wei Chenguang hurriedly stopped him.
“Master, please leave this to us. Meishan Sect is not a charity—if we enjoy the sect’s benefits, then naturally we must contribute to it. Now’s the time to act. We usually don’t get many good opportunities to train. This is just right.”
Hearing this, Zhang Jiaohua sat back down in his seat. “Then remind them to be careful. The ones coming are clearly not friendly.”
“Master, don’t worry. Right now, we don’t even know who the real hunters are.” Wei Chenguang brought his phone to his mouth and said coldly, “Stay alert—don’t let a single one escape!”
A black sedan sped toward Zhang Jiaohua’s vehicle, but suddenly a figure rushed out from a corner on either side of the road, flinging several pieces of yellow talisman paper toward the car. Several fireballs exploded around the sedan. A powerful shockwave lifted the car into the air, where it flipped several times before crashing heavily to the ground. The windows shattered, glass scattering everywhere. The intense heat instantly melted the tires, releasing an acrid stench of burnt rubber.
In the sky, several gliders buzzed overhead, broadcasting the unfolding scene in real-time. But suddenly, one of the pilots widened his eyes in horror—a massive fireball was heading straight toward him. It grew larger and clearer by the second.
Boom!
A thunderous explosion echoed through the sky as one glider was consumed in flames. The aircraft and its pilot turned to ashes instantly.
In rapid succession, more fireballs took out all the gliders, wiping them from the sky.
These gliders had acted like the enemy’s eyes—by eliminating them, their vision was effectively blinded.
“Mr. Azir, all our gliders are down. I’ve got a really bad feeling,” Baren said nervously as he found Azir.
“What kind of feeling?” Azir didn’t seem the least bit flustered.
“I think we’ve walked into someone else’s trap. First they took out our gliders, then started picking off our attackers one by one. This operation can’t possibly succeed now. Maybe we should…” Baren suggested.
“Withdraw? The order I received was: succeed or die trying.” Azir smiled coldly.
Baren’s expression changed. He understood Azir’s meaning. This time, they had come armed with extremely powerful weapons—but using them could result in mutual destruction, and they might not escape alive.
“Don’t worry. Maybe we won’t need to use our final trump card.” Azir sneered.
Baren grew even more tense.
The Meishan Sect members moved with lightning speed, swiftly destroying the enemy vehicles and gliders. The attack force seemed wiped out almost too easily.
“Master, it looks like the enemies have all been dealt with,” Wei Chenguang reported, though he sounded uncertain.
Zhang Jiaohua shook his head. “Don’t celebrate too early. If it were that simple, they wouldn’t be called super soldiers. Tell everyone to stay sharp. I still suspect there’s someone coordinating all this from behind the scenes. Until we find the commander, the danger isn’t over.”
Zhang Jiaohua suddenly sensed a strange, looming danger. Things weren’t that simple!
Boom!
Suddenly, from the wreckage of the vehicles that had nearly been blown to pieces, movement stirred. The debris shifted, and blackened humanoid monsters rose from the wreckage.
One… two…
Eventually, more than twenty of these grotesque figures emerged from different heaps of burned-out cars. Tall and burly, their bodies were blackened by smoke, making their original skin color impossible to discern. But from their shape, they seemed to match the super soldiers James and Roger had described.
“Master, I don’t know much about these so-called super soldiers, but from the looks of them, they seem like zombies—maybe about as tough as bronze corpses. We can handle zombies of that level,” Wei Chenguang said quickly.
Zhang Jiaohua nodded. “Be careful. These super soldiers seem more than meets the eye. Tell our people to stay alert. They can use weapons—try to eliminate them quickly to remove any threat.”
Although Wei Chenguang thought Zhang Jiaohua might be a bit paranoid, he still passed on the instructions as given.
Meishan Sect cultivator Sun Jinghao charged forward with a gleaming sword, aiming at a super soldier. But when he tried to stab the soldier’s heart, the sword was caught in a powerful grip.
Sun Jinghao tried to pull it back but couldn’t budge it. The super soldier’s strength was overwhelming.
With one hand gripping the sword, the other hand reached toward Sun Jinghao.
He quickly released the sword and pulled out a talisman, activating it and hurling it at the enemy.
Boom!
A sudden explosion knocked the super soldier to the ground—but Sun Jinghao himself was also jolted by the blast. What shocked him was that the super soldier had barely been injured.
Taking advantage of the moment, he snatched his sword back from the enemy’s hand.
“Be careful! They’re strong!” he shouted to the other Meishan Sect cultivators.
For cultivators like Sun Jinghao—who weren’t too advanced and had limited magical power—these super soldiers posed a real challenge. Within moments, over a dozen members were injured.
For elite cultivators like Kong Fangzhou, however, these enemies were troublesome but not undefeatable.
The super soldiers wore special armor that regular spiritual swords could barely scratch—just shallow cuts, not enough to kill or even cripple them.
But for someone like Kong Fangzhou, a single wave of sword energy could slice through their armor and leave deep, vicious wounds.
Still, these super soldiers seemed to feel no pain. Even with grievous injuries, they moved as if nothing had happened.
Kong Fangzhou had to unleash two strong sword strikes just to take down one.
Meanwhile, Sun Jinghao struggled, constantly dodging. His sword left mark after mark on the enemy’s armor, but none were fatal—and they barely slowed the super soldier down.
Watching all this from the car, Wei Chenguang furrowed his brow.
“Master, I’ll head out now,” he said.
“Wait. The mastermind still hasn’t revealed themselves. I still believe this isn’t over. If they can produce something this insane, do you really think this is all they’ve got?” Zhang Jiaohua quickly stopped him.
