“Pay first.” Zhang Jiaohua said coldly.

“What? Didn’t you say it was free earlier?” Zeng Lei was stunned. This guy had started off acting like a master, but now he suddenly turned into a money-grabber.

Wu Yuan also wasn’t having it. “Jiaohua, didn’t you say the first three treatments were free?”

“Sorry, what I said was that there are only three free treatments, and each person only gets one chance. I gave you a chance earlier, but you refused. Now, of course, it’s no longer free,” Zhang Jiaohua explained.

“How much do you want?” Zeng Lei asked.

“That depends on what kind of result you want. If you want to get better immediately, it’ll be more expensive. If you’re willing to wait three to five days, it will be cheaper.” Zhang Jiaohua was intentionally making things difficult for Zeng Lei. After all, Zeng Lei had doubted his Meishan water technique earlier.

“Tell me the prices. How much is the more expensive one, and how much is the cheaper one?” Zeng Lei said, growing a little angry, his face darkening.

Zhang Jiaohua didn’t even acknowledge Zeng Lei’s frustration. Why would he offer his skills so easily?

“The expensive one is 300. The cheapest is 100,” Zhang Jiaohua said with an attitude of, “Take it or leave it. I won’t force you.”

Zeng Lei was angry too. “300 is fine, but you need to guarantee when I will get better after paying you.”

“The quickest? Of course, that would be immediately,” Zhang Jiaohua smiled coldly.

“Jiaohua, don’t make promises lightly. Zeng Lei is a police officer,” Wu Yuan quickly reminded Zhang Jiaohua, feeling caught between the two men.

“I know,” Zhang Jiaohua nodded.

Zeng Lei pulled out three 100 yuan bills from his pocket, showing them to Zhang Jiaohua but not handing them over. “I won’t shortchange you, but you have to prove your skills first.”

“If I start, no one dares owe me medical fees,” Zhang Jiaohua wasn’t afraid of Zeng Lei backing out.

Zeng Lei scoffed. “Let’s begin.”

“This place won’t work. We’ll go inside. I’m not a street doctor. Healing requires some decorum,” Zhang Jiaohua said.

At Wu Yuan’s house, Zhang Jiaohua went to prepare a bowl of water and made some bone-setting liquid before coming back out.

“Hey, I’ll make this clear. If you can’t cure me, just stop now. I’ll pretend this never happened. But if you don’t stop and still can’t heal my arm, you’ll bear all the consequences,” Zeng Lei said.

“If you keep talking, I might charge more than 300. If it weren’t for Wu Yuan, do you think I’d bother treating you?” Zhang Jiaohua coldly replied.

“Fine! Let’s start!” Zeng Lei was getting angrier but then let out a sudden cry of pain, “Ah!”

Zhang Jiaohua roughly removed the bandage from Zeng Lei’s arm without any regard for his discomfort. Zeng Lei screamed, but while he was screaming, Zhang Jiaohua had already sprayed the bone-setting liquid on his arm. He held Zeng Lei’s arm with his left hand, pulled it with his right hand, and used his spiritual power to repair Zeng Lei’s muscle and bone damage.

When Zhang Jiaohua let go, Zeng Lei stopped crying out in pain. Instead, he stared at his arm in shock. He moved it several times and found there was no pain at all. It was as if he had never been injured.

“Is it really healed?” Zeng Lei asked in surprise.

“Check for yourself and see if I’ve completely healed your dislocated joint. Don’t blame me if you get hurt again after you leave here,” Zhang Jiaohua said with a hint of annoyance.

Wu Yuan had been worried that Zhang Jiaohua wouldn’t be able to heal Zeng Lei’s dislocation, and that they might end up arguing. However, seeing Zeng Lei’s arm fully healed, Wu Yuan thought to himself that if he didn’t know these two people well, he would have thought that Zeng Lei was in on a scheme.

Zeng Lei saw a stone table and stone bench in the yard. He walked over and picked up a large stone bench, which weighed around 60 or 70 kilograms. Normally, Zeng Lei could easily lift it, but since he had just dislocated his arm, he was being extra cautious, even though he no longer felt pain in his arm.

“Zeng Lei, don’t! What if it dislocates again? It could become a habit,” Wu Yuan said worriedly.

“Didn’t he say it’s fully healed?” Zeng Lei was still amazed by Zhang Jiaohua’s skills, but he was still skeptical.

Zhang Jiaohua acted as though he didn’t see Zeng Lei’s doubts. He had not only made the water but also used spiritual power—if Zeng Lei’s dislocation wasn’t healed by now, it would be hard to explain.

Sure enough, Zeng Lei easily lifted the stone bench and even performed a risky move, tossing the bench up with both hands before catching it securely.

“Zeng Lei, does your arm feel uncomfortable?” Wu Yuan asked.

Zeng Lei shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’m all better.”

At this point, Zhang Jiaohua spoke up. “Pay the medical fee and you can leave.”

Zeng Lei smiled and handed Zhang Jiaohua the three 100 yuan bills. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have doubted you earlier. Your medical skills really are extraordinary.”

Zhang Jiaohua ignored Zeng Lei and turned to walk back into the room.

“Hey, Doctor Zhang,” Zeng Lei suddenly remembered something.

“Stop with the nonsense,” Zhang Jiaohua’s cold voice came from inside the room.

“I have an elder with severe rheumatism in both legs. He can barely walk. Can you treat him?” Zeng Lei asked.

“I don’t know. I’ll have to see if I can treat him,” Zhang Jiaohua replied.

“Can you come by? My elder has difficulty walking,” Zeng Lei asked with a frown.

“If you want treatment, come here. I’m new in the capital and don’t know the area well,” Zhang Jiaohua naturally refused. If Zeng Lei had been more polite earlier, maybe he would have considered it. If it weren’t for needing to make a name for himself, Zhang Jiaohua might not have treated Zeng Lei at all.

Zeng Lei scratched his head, knowing Zhang Jiaohua was upset with him.

“Zeng Lei, don’t worry. I’ll talk to him properly later,” Wu Yuan quickly said.

“Forget it, I’ll figure out a way to bring the old man over,” Zeng Lei shook his head. He knew Wu Yuan wouldn’t be able to persuade Zhang Jiaohua, and it might even make things worse.

“Okay,” Wu Yuan nodded.

“Fatty, you should follow this Doctor Zhang. If you can learn some skills from him, you won’t have to mix with those useless guys anymore,” Zeng Lei patted Wu Yuan’s shoulder.
