“You have to take care of this matter whether you want to or not, or it will eventually come back to bite you. By then, that thing will have gained too much power, and it will be difficult to deal with.” Chen Dianzi wiped his mouth with his sleeve, grinning foolishly.

“Chen Dianzi, stop pretending to be crazy in front of me. People like you are a disgrace to the Meishan Water Daoists.” Zhang Jiaohua looked at Chen Dianzi with a disdainful expression.

“You little brat, you still don’t understand the Dao. Why be concerned with trivial matters when seeking the Great Dao? Ah, once you reach my level, you’ll naturally understand.” Chen Dianzi was completely indifferent to Zhang Jiaohua’s look.

“My old Daoist master had far greater abilities than you, yet he was much cleaner. The old master used to say that when one’s cultivation is high, they naturally remain untainted. Unlike you, who is filthy beyond belief.” Zhang Jiaohua immediately used his old master’s words to counter Chen Dianzi.

“The old Daoist master? You have a master?” Chen Dianzi was somewhat surprised.

“Without a master, do you think someone could just be born knowing the Meishan Water Techniques?” Zhang Jiaohua said irritably.

Chen Dianzi quickly shook his head, “No, no, there’s no old Daoist master around here. How could I, Chen Shunsheng, not know everyone in the Water Daoist circle?”

“My master taught me the Water Techniques in my dreams. How could you have seen him?” Zhang Jiaohua said proudly.

Chen Dianzi was taken aback. He couldn’t quite figure it out, but suddenly remembered the situation with Chen Maozhong’s wife and quickly shifted the topic back. “Let’s not talk about that. What are you going to do about Chen Maozhong’s wife?”

“What does Chen Maozhong’s wife have to do with me? I’m not the village chief. You could go find Grandpa Dewang and have him call the police to arrest them.” Zhang Jiaohua put down his bowl, ready to go about his own business.

“If the police could handle it, why would I come to you? That thing is using Chen Maozhong’s wife to absorb the incense offerings of Meizi’ao.” Chen Dianzi shouted at Zhang Jiaohua.

“Let it absorb, what does that have to do with me? You can’t eat incense. Is it that Liu Fengying becoming a spirit medium is overshadowing you, Chen Dianzi? Why are you bothering with it? You got chased out of their house with sticks, and now you come here to complain. If you could handle it, you’d deal with it yourself. Didn’t you negotiate with the alpha wolf? Why can’t you deal with this thing?” Zhang Jiaohua showed no mercy to Chen Dianzi. First, he had no liking for Chen Dianzi, who considered himself highly skilled and treated everyone in Meizi’ao with disdain, constantly pretending to be mad and above it all. Second, the Chen family didn’t appreciate help. Even if you saved them, they might not be grateful. Besides, it wouldn’t kill anyone; at most, it would drain some yang energy from those superstitious people. Chen Maozhong’s wife would suffer more, likely losing quite a bit of her lifespan. When she was at her last breath, the thing would naturally leave her body.

The old Daoist master had said that some people could be saved and some could not. You could only save those who were salvageable, or you’d bring trouble upon yourself. Chen Dianzi was now doing exactly that.

“Fine, fine, pretend I never came. You’ll regret it eventually. Liu Fengying is a vicious woman. Even though she’s possessed, that thing will try to satisfy her and will definitely cause you trouble. When it gains enough power, let’s see how you’ll deal with it then.” Chen Dianzi surprisingly knew about what had happened at the horticultural field.

“Let it come, who’s afraid of who?” Zhang Jiaohua didn’t take it to heart at all.

In the time that had passed, the dozens of hunting dog puppies brought back from Zijiang City had grown considerably. These puppies had been trained according to the methods for training mountain dogs from a very young age. Though still small, they had a ferocity that ordinary puppies lacked. In some ways, their training had been even more rigorous than that of Zhuanshan Leopard. Back when Zhuanshan Leopard was being trained, there hadn’t been as much wild animal blood available.

Zhuanshan Leopard and the fifteen hunting dogs were becoming more and more coordinated, and these fifteen dogs had become true mountain dogs. When working with Zhuanshan Leopard, they were unstoppable in Meishan, even managing to hunt down lone large gray wolves. After Zhang Jiaohua performed the canine transformation technique, a single adult mountain dog could hold its own against a strong gray wolf, not falling behind at all. But the mountain dogs were smarter than the gray wolves, and under Zhuanshan Leopard’s leadership, they would fight if they could win, and retreat if they couldn’t. With the addition of Jinhua and the others, even the alpha wolf posed no threat to Zhuanshan Leopard.

Zhuanshan Leopard led the fifteen hunting dogs in dragging a dying large gray wolf into the horticultural field, with several gray wolves trailing far behind. When they neared the field, the gray wolves reluctantly turned back. The horticultural field had seemingly become forbidden territory for the gray wolves.

Though the gray wolf was on its last breath, it still glared menacingly at the surrounding puppies. The puppies were somewhat fearful, circling the gray wolf and barking continuously.

Zhuanshan Leopard and the sixteen adult mountain dogs barked constantly, urging the puppies to attack the gray wolf. They were using this method to train the future mountain dogs in courage and ferocity.

Finally, one puppy mustered up the courage to charge forward, biting into the gray wolf, trying to tear off a piece of meat.

“Woof!” The gray wolf’s head snapped towards the puppy in a desperate attempt to fight back.

Though inexperienced, the puppy was sensitive to danger. Before the gray wolf could bite it, the puppy quickly jumped to the side. The gray wolf, severely injured, missed its attack and couldn’t continue. The gray wolf’s counterattack only fueled the puppies’ ferocity.

In an instant, several puppies attacked at once, with a few successfully tearing bloody chunks of meat from the gray wolf.

The puppies seemed frenzied in their desire to tear off pieces of the wolf to eat, but they never fought over the spoils with their companions. Once a puppy bit off a piece of meat, it would retreat to enjoy its catch without worrying about competition. This discipline was a hallmark of well-trained mountain dogs. Ordinary village dogs would have fought their companions over the prey.

The gray wolf was finally killed by this group of future mountain dogs and was devoured completely. Even the iron-hard wolf bones were left with countless bite marks. The twenty-eight mountain dogs shared about fifty to sixty pounds of gray wolf meat, with each getting more than a pound, leaving them all with bulging bellies.

Seeing Zhang Jiaohua approach, the puppies immediately ran over, wiping their bloodstained mouths on his pants before rolling around and acting playful, showing no signs of the ferocity they had just displayed.
