Mu Bai drove away from the car dealership without returning to accept anyone’s gratitude.
He arrived quietly and left just as discreetly.
Within a few minutes of leaving, Mu Bai and Qian Yiwen found a large supermarket nearby. He parked the car, and they went inside to buy supplies.
Since it was already completely dark, they shopped quickly without wasting time browsing.
Mu Bai bought a case of 36 bottles of Wahaha mineral water, a case of Yili breakfast milk, some bags of chocolate, and a box of long-lasting compressed biscuits.
After seeing what Qian Yiwen bought, Mu Bai couldn’t help but laugh. “Aren’t you a bit old to still be eating spicy strips?”
“Spicy strips are delicious! They’re not just for kids, you know. Haven’t you heard? There’s no problem that one pack of spicy strips can’t solve. If there is, then two packs will do!” Qian Yiwen defended herself as she loaded her snacks into the trunk.
Mu Bai didn’t argue further. He glanced at what she had bought: about 20 packs of Weilong spicy strips, several packs of Wangwang sausages, some chips, and a mix of sunflower seeds and peanuts.
In short, a bunch of snacks.
It was clear that even a girl hailed as a goddess couldn’t escape the habit of snacking.
“After we’re done here, let’s go buy some household essentials. And don’t forget your feminine products—better stock up,” Mu Bai said.
“Hmph, annoying Mu. Fine, I admit you’re more experienced than me, okay? Oh great driving master, please have mercy on this newbie,” Qian Yiwen playfully pouted, feeling a bit shy.
After sharing this playful moment, they continued shopping for necessities.
Qian Yiwen had already brought her skincare products, but as they passed by the aisle, she picked out a set of L’Oréal men’s skincare products for Mu Bai. They also bought some toilet paper, sanitary products, toothbrushes, and toothpaste—things that are easy to forget.
Meanwhile, Mu Bai bought a blanket, two 26,800 mAh fully charged power banks, and a few changes of clothes—two sets for himself and two for Qian Yiwen. He remembered her size from the last time he had bought clothes for her.
After finishing their shopping, Mu Bai returned to find Qian Yiwen arranging the items in the trunk.
“I’ll do that. I bought you two sets of clothes. Go try them in the car and see if they fit. Don’t worry, I won’t peek,” Mu Bai said, handing her the clothes.
Qian Yiwen, touched by his thoughtfulness, smiled and said, “This is the first time my cold Mu has been so sweet to me. Thank you! Even if you peek, it’s okay—after all, you’re my online boyfriend. I guess I have no choice but to spoil you. What can I do, poor me, stuck with such a cold online boyfriend?”
“Boring,” Mu Bai replied flatly to her teasing and began organizing the trunk.
He placed the food on one side, the household items on the other, and the snacks within easy reach. He also flattened the back seats of the SUV and spread the blanket out, transforming the back into a simple single bed.
Once he was done, Qian Yiwen had already tried on the clothes in the passenger seat.
“They fit perfectly. Thanks so much, cold Mu.”
“Glad they fit. We’ve got everything we need now. I’ll fill up the tank, and we can start our 5,000-kilometer road trip.”
“I’m so excited! It’s my first time going on such a long trip. Cold Mu, you better not abandon your online girlfriend on the way. I’d get totally lost and never find my way back!”
“Don’t worry, stop overthinking,” Mu Bai said, smiling affectionately as he patted her head.
Their relationship had gradually deepened over the past few days.
After setting the GPS to find the nearest gas station, they drove over. A few minutes later, they arrived, and Mu Bai asked the attendant to fill the tank.
This luxury BMW SUV had two tanks: a main tank and a secondary tank. Once both were full, with 50 liters in the main tank and 20 liters in the secondary, it should give them a range of about 600-700 kilometers, assuming an average fuel consumption of 10 liters per 100 kilometers.
With the supplies bought and the tank filled, they were ready to go.
Mu Bai checked the time on the dashboard and saw it was already past 8 p.m. The sky outside was completely dark, but the safety features of the BMW SUV gave them both a strong sense of security.
Night driving it was!
Mu Bai shifted to automatic mode, stepped on the gas, and they set off for the first stop on their journey: Xuzhou, a place that had been a military and commercial hub since ancient times!
