Before things had even settled down, now another person had fainted!

Yan Ling shook Leng Feng’s body anxiously. “Leng Feng, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me!”

But Leng Feng had already passed out. No matter how she shook him, he couldn’t wake.

“Doctor, please come quickly!” Yan Ling called out, then turned to Cui’er. “Go get the doctor right now!”

“But… but that girl…” Cui’er hesitated, knowing that Doctor Liang was already treating Ding Ying.

“Why are you hesitating? Go now!” Yan Ling shouted.

Cui’er hurried to Doctor Liang. “Doctor Liang, please come check on my master! He’s fainted!”

“But this young lady’s condition is serious…”

“My master cannot be harmed. Go immediately!” Cui’er even tried to pull Doctor Liang along.

Doctor Liang had no choice but to let his assistants tend to Ding Ying, carrying her inside while he examined Leng Feng.

At that moment, Chu Jingcheng and Yin Qingyue returned from the Red Maple Forest and happened to pass the pharmacy, noticing the commotion.

Yin Qingyue felt something was wrong and had the carriage stop. She intended to get out and investigate.

Chu Jingcheng pulled her back. “What? Are you trying to meddle again?”

“This pharmacy… I’ve been here before. With all this commotion, something must have happened,” she said, sensing it might involve someone she knew.

But it was only her intuition.

“I really can’t refuse you… Fine, I’ll go with you,” he said.

Yin Qingyue nodded, and they both got out of the carriage and walked toward the pharmacy.

Inside, they saw Leng Feng, Ding Ying, and Yan Ling causing all the trouble.

However, Chu Jingcheng and Yin Qingyue didn’t have time to deal with Yan Ling. Seeing Leng Feng and Ding Ying’s conditions, they immediately approached.

Yin Qingyue quickly checked Ding Ying. Knowing she had asthma, she asked Doctor Liang to bring some sandalwood incense. “Doctor Liang, please hurry. Hold the incense near her nose, then grind some Gui herbs into powder, mix with dew, and have her drink it.”

“What?” Doctor Liang was surprised. Treating asthma this way was new, but hearing Yin Qingyue’s instructions, he realized it truly was a miraculous remedy.

“Thank you, Doctor Liang,” Yin Qingyue said, then hurried to check on Leng Feng.

She lifted his eyelids to examine him. Without even checking his pulse, she said, “He has such severe internal injuries. We must take him back immediately.”

Yan Ling, though stubborn, knew Yin Qingyue could treat him, so she didn’t interfere. Instead, she asked, “Is he alright?”

Yin Qingyue glanced at her without answering, then instructed the pharmacy assistants, “Help carry him to the carriage outside.”

The assistants were about to lift him, but Yan Ling protested. “No one touches him! I’m taking him back to the Yan residence.”

“Miss Yan, I must tell you, Leng Feng isn’t your household’s person. You cannot take him there.”

“He’s my responsibility since I saved him. I know you’re skilled, but the rescue must be mine to do,” Yan Ling insisted.

“If you were truly capable, he wouldn’t have remained injured for so long. The doctors you hired were only endangering him, not helping him,” Yin Qingyue said sharply.

Hearing this, Yan Ling hesitated—but she still wanted Leng Feng.

Chu Jingcheng, who had been silent, suddenly stepped forward. His cold gaze swept across the pharmacy assistants. “This is a matter of life and death. If anything happens to him, it’ll be on you all. Hurry and carry him to the carriage!”

“Yes… yes…” The assistants quickly lifted Leng Feng and carried him outside.

Yan Ling had intended to stop them, but seeing his condition and remembering Yin Qingyue’s words, she let them take him. She quietly watched him, tears welling in her eyes.

Yin Qingyue noticed Yan Ling’s feelings. She realized Yan Ling hadn’t let go of her attachment to Leng Feng and even felt that if he truly loved Ding Ying, she might accept being a concubine.

Doctor Liang returned with the medicine for Ding Ying. The sandalwood incense near her nose helped her condition improve, though she hadn’t yet awakened.

Chu Jingcheng told the assistants, “Carry this young lady onto the carriage as well.”

The assistants hurriedly placed both Leng Feng and Ding Ying onto the carriage.

Chu Jingcheng whispered to Yin Qingyue, “I’ll wait on the carriage. Handle the Yan family matter as you see fit.”

His words implied that women should handle matters of women. At present, the only rational woman present was Yin Qingyue.

After Chu Jingcheng left, Yin Qingyue looked at Yan Ling, who kept her gaze on Leng Feng until he was carried onto the carriage.

She approached Yan Ling. “Miss Yan, forcing things won’t bring happiness. Think carefully. Your destined one hasn’t arrived yet.”

Yan Ling was stunned, unable to respond.

Yin Qingyue, having delivered her advice, prepared to leave. Yan Ling called after her, “Wait! You must make sure he’s alright!”

“Don’t worry. Since you saved him, it’s his fate. I won’t let anything happen to him,” Yin Qingyue said, and left.

Yan Ling remained in the pharmacy, mentally shaken and deeply affected by the earlier events.

Cui’er stepped forward. “Miss, are you alright?”

Yan Ling didn’t respond, her legs shaky. Eventually, Cui’er helped her leave the pharmacy and return home.

The biggest victim of this chaos was probably the pharmacy owner, whose shop was left in total disarray.

But Doctor Liang remained in shock. When an assistant asked, “Sir, are you alright?”

“Amazing… This young lady’s medical skills are truly once in a millennium. I’m in awe,” he said, shaking his head, completely ignoring the mess in the shop.

Soon, Leng Feng and Ding Ying were taken back to the County Magistrate’s residence.

Ding Ying’s old condition had improved significantly, though her injuries would take time to fully heal. More urgent was Leng Feng’s condition.

Once Leng Feng was placed on the bed, Yin Qingyue examined him and prepared her own medicine.

Now, with his pale face and severe internal injuries, the previous doctors’ external remedies had done nothing.

She told Chu Jingcheng, “He must rest. Internal injuries require time to heal slowly.”

She also mentioned Ding Ying: “Once her condition stabilizes, she must return to her home immediately. Any emotional agitation outside is dangerous.”

Chu Jingcheng, though concerned, maintained his stern demeanor. “As long as they recover, that’s enough.”

“Actually, you care about Leng Feng,” Yin Qingyue said.

“They are brothers who have served me for years. Of course, I worry,” Chu Jingcheng replied.

Yin Qingyue smiled. “He’ll be fine. Otherwise, the reputation of my divine medical skills would be for nothing.”

She instructed someone to take care of Leng Feng, finally feeling at ease.

Chu Jingcheng looked up at the solitary moon in the night sky, and Yin Qingyue’s gaze lingered on his imposing figure.

He was a complex man; every action represented the Northern Hao. Though often carefree before her, she knew he carried his own burdens.

She stepped closer and softly asked, “What are you thinking?”

He glanced sideways and forced a smile. “Nothing.”

“Really?” Yin Qingyue didn’t believe him. She stepped closer. “Are you thinking about the capital?”

Surprised, he looked at her. “Yin Qingyue… are you a mind reader? How could you guess what I’m thinking?”

“You said it’s a guess, so naturally I’m guessing,” she replied.

“Smooth-talker,” he laughed.

Yin Qingyue raised an eyebrow; she hadn’t called him that yet, but he used it on himself.

Then he grew serious. “The assassination attempt must have reached my father. He’s investigating. But I can’t fathom who’s behind it.”

Seeing his concern, Yin Qingyue asked, “So you haven’t guessed who it might be?”

Chu Jingcheng’s heart tightened. “I wouldn’t dare. Royal schemes are intricate, with endless repercussions.”

“So you think the assassin isn’t ordinary?” she asked.

He remained silent, unable to draw conclusions.

Yin Qingyue didn’t press further. They stood together, looking at the lone moon. Words couldn’t capture the feeling.

From Xize to Northern Hao, from the capital to Tuoshui County, they had endured much, unexpected events included.

The long night would eventually pass.

The cold wind howled, and the entire County Magistrate’s residence seemed to be immersed in the chill of Leng Feng’s presence.

Life in the palace is long, and it seems the same outside.

Now with Ding Ying and Leng Feng in trouble again, misfortune had truly compounded.
