“When did I ever say I knew how to barbecue? Whenever I have a barbecue, I’m always waited on by world-class chefs. All I have to do is open my mouth and eat. How was I supposed to know grilling it myself would be this troublesome? Don’t all of you attend barbecue banquets all the time? Haven’t you picked up even the basics? I was counting on you.”
“Luoluo, we have attendants serving us too. Even the meat is sliced and brought to us on plates. Who actually does the grilling themselves?”
Xiao Yu tossed his charred meat skewer aside and rubbed his growling stomach.
“I’m so hungry~~”
The entire group sighed in unison, finally realizing the sad reality of being pampered people who had never had to do anything for themselves.
Bulaya looked thoroughly pleased with herself.
“You Central Plains nobles are really helpless. You can’t even barbecue. We people of the grasslands, no matter how powerful or high our status, all know how to do these things. But even if none of you can, isn’t there still Brother Luo? Brother Luo is excellent at grilling meat. You should ask him.”
The moment Bulaya finished speaking, every pair of eyes turned toward Xiao Luo like a pack of hungry wolves.
The stares made Xiao Luo’s scalp tingle.
Jin Luoluo immediately scurried over to him with a flattering smile.
“So our great prince actually knows how to barbecue! You’re practically our savior~~ The hopes of all of us are resting on you now. Whether we starve or feast depends entirely on you~~ Hehe, I’m signing up first—I get first priority for your barbecue!”
Xiao Luo, however, wasn’t about to be that self-sacrificing.
“How could I possibly grill enough food for everyone by myself? I’d collapse from exhaustion before I managed to fill all your stomachs. You were right earlier—if you want to eat, you should grill it yourselves. I can teach you.”
Jin Luoluo knew perfectly well that she simply didn’t have the talent for it. No matter how much she learned, the results probably wouldn’t improve much. If she was going to eat, she wanted the most delicious barbecue available.
She immediately sidled up to him with an innocent, pitiful expression.
“Then I’ll help you with the odd jobs while you cook for me. Grilling one extra portion won’t be too much trouble, will it?”
How could Xiao Luo not see through her little scheme?
Still, she naturally deserved special treatment.
It would be good to let her taste his cooking. After all, he’d heard that her ideal husband had to be someone who could excel in the study, carry himself well in public, cook in the kitchen, and… perform well in the bedroom.
By his own reckoning, he already met three of those requirements. As for being able to cook—that was something most aristocratic young masters couldn’t do, but he happened to be the exception.
Not only could he cook, he was exceptionally good at it.
“Very well. You can help me by seasoning the meat and threading it onto the skewers. It isn’t convenient for me to keep moving around anyway.”
