Xiao Yu was the type who would support anything that made Jin Luoluo happy.

“A barbecue? Sounds good. Aside from the barbecue feasts we have after going on royal hunts with Father Emperor, I don’t think we’ve ever had such a simple little barbecue. It should be fun to give it a try.”

“As long as I don’t have to do the work, I have no objections.”

Xiao Luo spread his hands with a sly grin.

Jin Luoluo immediately teased him.

“Oh, go away~~ You lazy bum! The most burnt food will be yours. Anyone who doesn’t help doesn’t get to eat.”

“I don’t know how to barbecue!”

Xiao Che looked utterly depressed. She was obviously making things difficult for him on purpose.

“You can at least do the odd jobs, can’t you? You’re in charge of starting the fire, adding charcoal, and preparing the dipping sauces.”

As for Yang Ruoyao and Zhao Lin, Jin Luoluo simply ignored the two of them completely.

After everything needed for the barbecue had been prepared, Jin Luoluo found a grassy spot by the lake and had the servants set up the grills. Various kinds of meat and vegetables were marinated and laid out.

With swift, practiced movements, Bulaya slaughtered and skewered a whole fat lamb, mounting it on a pair of wooden racks. She expertly rotated the lamb over the fire as the fat sizzled noisily, filling the air with an irresistible aroma.

Jin Luoluo and the others watched with goosebumps.

The people of the grasslands really were wild at heart. Even such a delicate-looking young woman grilled an entire lamb with an intimidating, battle-hardened air.

Meanwhile, at the smaller grills, the princes and young ladies were delicately roasting chicken legs, wings, and beef skewers that weren’t even one percent the size of Bulaya’s whole lamb.

They were all pampered young masters and ladies who had always been served hand and foot.

Each of them enthusiastically picked up a chicken wing to roast. Yet after quite some time, every face wore the same look of disappointment.

“Jin Luoluo! Why has my chicken wing turned completely black? How am I supposed to eat this?”

Mu Yun was the first to cry out. Staring at the chicken wing in her hand, which had been roasted into something resembling a lump of charcoal, she nearly fainted.

“How should I know?”

Jin Luoluo held up her own chicken leg. It was no better than Mu Yun’s—its original shape was almost unrecognizable, having likewise turned into a black lump of charcoal.

Having been ordered around to do the menial work, Xiao Che finally found a chance to vent his frustration. He sneered,

“Jin Luoluo, weren’t you acting so impressive? And yet you can’t even barbecue. Why don’t you do the odd jobs instead?”

“When did I ever say I knew how to barbecue?” Jin Luoluo replied matter-of-factly. “Whenever I have barbecues, I’m usually surrounded by world-class chefs who serve me from beginning to end. All I have to do is open my mouth and eat. How was I supposed to know grilling it myself would be this troublesome? Don’t all of you attend barbecue banquets all the time? I thought you’d at least have picked up a few basic skills. I was counting on you!”
