“I’m fine. Other than it being a little quiet and having a few more mosquitoes than usual, there’s really nothing to complain about. It was… an interesting experience.”
Xiao Luo spoke casually as he shifted his stiff body.
The room had been cold and lifeless, but her arrival seemed to drive away all the chill.
“Then why didn’t you leave?”
Jin Luoluo noticed that his wheelchair hadn’t moved at all—it was still exactly where she had left it.
“Don’t tell me you deliberately stayed here just to experience the joy of keeping mosquitoes company.”
“Someone as smart as you—I refuse to believe you couldn’t find a way out.”
She simply couldn’t understand why he had chosen to remain there.
If it had been her, she would have escaped by whatever means necessary without a second thought, then gone back and beaten up whoever had dared lock her inside.
Honestly…
Since when did Xiao Luo become so obedient?
“I did have a way to leave,” Xiao Luo admitted.
“But what would spending one night here matter?”
“I simply wanted to show you that I was sincerely apologizing to you—not trying to fool you with sweet words.”
“If staying here could help calm your anger, I wouldn’t mind remaining as long as necessary.”
“But I’m very happy.”
“You care about me even more than I imagined.”
“You didn’t leave me here until tomorrow morning.”
Xiao Luo lowered his head and gazed deeply into her eyes.
Even beneath the dim glow of the lantern, Jin Luoluo could clearly feel the intense affection in his eyes.
Her heart began pounding uncontrollably.
The thought that he had willingly stayed here all night, allowing himself to be eaten alive by mosquitoes just to earn her forgiveness…
It warmed her heart.
But…
He already had a fiancée.
How could he still say such tender words to her?
Turning her face away, Jin Luoluo replied stiffly,
“I just didn’t want to abuse a cripple.”
“Who says I care about you?”
“Stop flattering yourself.”
“Luoluo,” Xiao Luo said softly, “you’re lying to me.”
“You like me.”
“So what if I do?”
Jin Luoluo exploded in embarrassment and anger, springing to her feet and retreating several steps.
“Does that make you feel proud?”
“You damned cripple!”
“Let me tell you this.”
“Just because I like you doesn’t mean you get to toy with my feelings however you please.”
“When someone I dislike bullies me, I’ll strike back without mercy.”
“But if it’s someone I like who hurts me…”
“I’ll make his life an absolute living hell.”
“If you provoke me and then betray me…”
“I won’t suffer in silence.”
“I’ll chop you down first.”
Her view of love was simple.
Two people had to love each other wholeheartedly.
And neither one was ever allowed to betray the other.
Otherwise…
Even if heaven itself had to strike them down with lightning…
She would make sure the one who betrayed the other paid the price.
She would never tolerate a relationship where only one person suffered.
