Not only was Jin Luoluo stunned, but even Xiao Yu, Xiao Luo, and the others were secretly surprised. It was a rare sight to see Xiao Che speaking to Jin Luoluo in such a humble, conciliatory manner.
Leaning close to Jin Luoluo’s ear, Mu Yun whispered excitedly, “Jin Luoluo, you’re amazing! Not only do you dare provoke your brother-in-law, but you can even make him lower himself like this. You have no idea—he’s unbelievably domineering. He always has to make all the decisions and never cares about how other people feel. No one in the prince’s residence dares go against him, yet he hasn’t exploded at you in anger. It’s a miracle, a miracle! I don’t think he’d even compromise this much for that vixen. You’re incredible.”
To be honest, Jin Luoluo had always looked down on Xiao Che. The more he disliked something she did, the more deliberately she would do the opposite.
Nothing pleased her more than seeing him furious enough to stomp his feet.
Now, however, his obviously softened attitude made her feel very uncomfortable.
When someone you deeply dislike suddenly changes the way they treat you, it usually means something is wrong. Frankly, she had no desire to change how she felt about Xiao Che.
So she heartlessly replied, “Fine, I appreciate your concern. But I’ll still do what I intend to do.”
In other words: Sorry, but your opinion won’t change my mind.
“Jin Luoluo, you really are an ungrateful woman.”
Xiao Che was nearly driven mad by her.
Still, he hadn’t really expected her to listen.
As far as she was concerned, no matter whether his opinions were right or wrong, she rejected them unconditionally. Even if what he said was correct, she would never listen.
She was even more stubborn and domineering than most men. Once she had made up her mind, no amount of persuasion would change it. She had absolute confidence in her own abilities and always believed there was nothing she couldn’t accomplish.
“Brother, sit down,” Xiao Yu urged. “There’s no point arguing about who’s right or wrong now. We’re away from home, so let’s not attract any more attention. A lot of the guests are already watching us. Please, sit.”
After Xiao Yu’s persuasion, Xiao Che sat down, and the four of them took seats beside Jin Luoluo.
Before long, the madam of the Hall of Ecstasy came out, exchanged a few polite remarks with the audience, and officially announced the start of the evening.
Then the courtesans, one after another, took the stage to perform. They displayed all kinds of talents, each performance more dazzling than the last.
It was obvious these famed beauties had put tremendous effort into preparing for tonight, hoping to find a wealthy patron who would redeem them so they would no longer have to remain in such a pleasure house.
Before long, Jin Luoluo’s attention settled on a young woman playing the guqin.
Among all the beauties, she wasn’t the most striking at first glance, but the longer one looked at her, the more beautiful she seemed. In short, she was the kind of woman whose elegance and temperament won people over rather than dazzling looks.
